Quote:Seems to me all we have so far is exactly that - one storyline. Praetorians, praetorians and more praetorians.
Quote:IDGAF.
I don't play red side, but I'm totally ok with the devs making stories about the Rogue isles. -
So that's another one who can be filed under "I don't like the story, so it must be a bad story".
I don't really like Star Trek - but I don't think it's a bad story - it's just not something that really appeals to me - I don't need to try and make up reasons why it might be a bad story to try and explain why I don't really like it - I just accept that there are loads of different styles and tastes, and that not everyone will like everything.
I also don't feel the need to tell Star Trek fans why their story "sucks". -
But they're not nearly as complex or as easy to relate to as the Praetorians - the Rikti are just a faceless horde of aliens, while the Praetorians are normal humans, with all kinds of plots and subplots going on - like a couple of new ones have started in started in DA, because the Praetors and their wacky antics have so much scope for development.

Quote:They're not that different, actuallythe issue 1 praetorians are unrecognisable from what we have now).
Quote:Every single incarnate trial up to this point has been linked to the Praetorians, ignoring something like the Shadow Shard which had unlimited potential for end-game play.
Quote:There is no need for a Praetorian presence in the updated Dark Astoria, for example.
Quote:And as I mentioned, the Praetorians were retconned. I prefered them as two-dimensional 'Mirror Mirror' rip offs, to be honest. The grim and gritty sci-fi world of Praetoria is all well and good, but doesn't feel particularly like I'm playing a superhero game, to be honest.
Quote:The Coming Storm has been executed perfectly in my opinion. It hasn't dominated parts of the game it doesn't need to dominate. It hasn't been shoehorned into every update to the point of fatigue. -
Quote:What lines? The Well doesn't come anywhere near the edge of the T ratingFor others, like myself, the Well introduces one or more lines that we feel should not be ever crossed, even while "pretending," even though this is NOT real life, etc.
The Well is kinda like the Force - it has a will, but we can manipulate its power - there's really nothing unusual about a mysterious power source in a sci-fi/fantasy setting -
Quote:So a few mentions by contacts and some letters and some enemies in a low level PvP zone = from the ground up, but a new 1-20 starting experience building on lore that's been in the game since Issue 1 = out of nowhere? But the difference is that the Coming Storm doesn't feel forced. It's been introduced from the ground up. The Praetorians were a straight retcon that turned into the driving storyline of the game, and the reaction from a lot of players, from my experience, was simply 'What?'

The Praetorians are major storyline of the game, so they need to be introduced at various levels - just like the Coming Storm - not only have we had the Galaxy City attack, but we've now got a new 15-30 Trial against the Shivans in Bloody Bay, as well as more info about Ouroboros and the letter writer in the new DA content - so the Coming Storm plotline is also being spread out to various levels as it's another major storyline.

They're not really problems - they're just stories that not everyone likes - kinda like all stories

Quote:The arcs took about an hour each, but that was reading every little clue and chatting in the beta testers channel, so they could go faster5-6 missions per arc is not particularly good IMO. I'll get Betaup to check them out and give feedback, but if they're full of 'interesting' mechanics and contact conversations etc a la FW then pfff.
I take it you've already played through all the DA content then, GG? How long did it take you?
I did the whole story line in one long session, but the RNG didn't like me, so by the end I had 5 commons and 1 uncommon
But that's only for the first play through - repeating the arcs works like the SSAs - so on all the other play throughs, you only get the chance for one random component every 20 hours, even if you play all 6 arcs.
The best method for soloing seems to be to play the whole storyline through once, then start playing 3 arcs per day - 1 for the random component, 1 for the 10 Thread reward, and 1 for the random Astral or Empyrean reward - with a few of the fast repeatable contact missions to get the 2 Thread reward at the end of them.
Playing the SSAs too will also add more variety tot eh daily routine, and help boost your Incarnate rewards. -

Quote:Hrm, looking at the Olympian Guard pictured at paragonwiki, isn't that just the same old painted-on spandex with baked-on Gold Stars using one of the existing stripe patterns, as well as bracers and boots that already exist in-game? The only thing new (in that particular pic, I'm not sure how varied these Olympian Guards are) appears to be a faceplate, shoulder pads, and belt. I gotta say that I'd love to have that chain independent of the shoulder pads or as a cape brooch option, though.
Here's the picture fom the I22 overview:
There's a kind of mesh/scales texture on the basic suit. -
-
It's an Olympian Guard costume set.
-
-
Option B is quite well covered already by thing like the IDF and Olympian Guard costumes.
-
If you do make this set, please remember that spandex doesn't follow curves all the time - spandex across the chest doesn't totally follow the shape of the breasts - it sort of stretches over them at the front, so a spandex top costume part shouldn't have the huge dip between the breasts that the current ones have - either using new geometry for the costume chest, or faking the effect with shading like the witch top or Mother Mayhem's top.

Quote:Since yesterday - that's why there's all this new info6 arcs for DA could be great, or it could be rubbish. It depends how many missions are in those arcs and what sort of missions they are. Is DA up on Beta yet?
There are about 5-6 missions per arc, so the arcs will need to be repeated a few times to get all the major Incarnate stuff like level shifts. -
Quote:Option A would be the most flexible, I think - people could use them for classic hero looks, or as the base for more complex outfits. If we're talking strictly about super-hero costumes, as I see it there are 3 possible ways to expand on the category:
A) revamped old school/spandex tights similar to the ones we already have (adding a few details like seams but still mostly plain)
B) modern tights (w/ ribbing, surface texture(s), subdivided surfaces) a la Ultimates 1 or Marvel movies
C) pieces we just haven't made before (e.g. domino mask)
