Well, all my stuff is on my DA page, but there was some other great stuff other folks did.
Speaking of which, great stuff, DarkEther! -
Hah! I'm glad some folks are getting a kick out of them! I was a bit worried when I saw the old thread gone!
I have a few more to do, but I don't know when/if I'll be able to do anymore after that. It all depends on whether I find any more images that just shout at me to turn them into LOLcats or not. I'll keep looking, but I'm definitely finding it harder to be interesting the more I do. :^/ -
Well, it looks like the thread I had been posting them to has died. Guess I took too long since the last batch.
Assuming people are still interested, I've done a few more:
Tesla Cage
Inventing
Generic Hero
Fire Monkeys!
Eagle's Claw
Dev Sighting
Brawl
Hope you enjoy! I have all of my CoH LOLcats and other stuff in my DA gallery here:
http://glow-plug.deviantart.com/gallery/. I also have some more coming as soon as I finish coming up with good captions and edit them. -

That is a very nice piece! Congrats Glow_Plug and WOW JTran, good stuff. Maybe one day I will finally be able to afford a piece for one of my chars. I am going to put that pictures on favorite right now. I just keep staring at it!

I've always said I'm too Scottish to pay for art, and I didn't. All I did was keep him company at his booth at Otakon. Oh, and pay for his dinner - all the sushi he wanted. But I probably woulda done that anyways!
The real truth is that I would love to shower the artists with money, but I just can't. Heck, I'll just be happy if I can keep my truck and the utilities turned on.I hate dealing with finances.

sw33t! You should have info from Moggie on the next one by now!

3) And of course the most important reason... I didn't do it!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you're welcome to take a stab at topping that!and thanks!
[ QUOTE ]
I may have to get something colored too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Moggie, but I don't think it would really do your main justice, being a grey kitty and all... heheh -
So I got my first piece of full art today, and wow! I'm just stunned! I think JTran did a fantastic job, and I wanted to share it here:
Glow Plug by JTran
Note that he's old school - he has more than 3 monkeys out!
He took some artistic license, but did a GREAT job with it! For reference, here's Glow Plug in game.
Dang it! Now I want more! It appears my path to the dark side is complete! -
I think the biggest thing I missed about being there was meeting you, Defuser! I know most of the NC Soft folks, and got to hang with a lot of the folks at lunch/dinner/drinking, but you and Ghost Widow were the big attraction items I didn't get to be there for. And since I try to be a devoted husband, I can't really claim 'wanting to see another woman' as something I really missed.
Ah well, maybe next time!Heck, since you're local, you could always come along with the Virtue lunch bunch!
-
Moggie and I had a great time and it was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones! We're bummed we couldn't make it to the event proper, but we were glad to be there for as much as possible! I'm already looking forward to the next one!
-
Dang, I never got a chance to meet you, but I wish that I had. Take care, and God bless!

--someone mentioned that no one dressed up save a few kitty ears punctuating the dark main room with their fuzzy sweetness... not so *gasp*, i was dressed in my main's 4th costume, she wears jeans! and so do i
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I was dressed up, in a way... not so much as a CoH/V char, though. You see, I've worked at Richard Garriot's birthday parties (they're rather infamous affairs) since back before he sold Origin to Electronic Arts. (Now, of course, he works at NCSoft developing Tabula Rasa.) For one of his birthday parties, there was a Superhero theme. Everyone invited came in costume as a SuperHero of some sort (I still remember the Golden Gargoyle - wow! the things you can do with body paint!). Those of us who worked the party were Richard's "faceless minions". We all wore shirts like I had on with a number on the front and Richard's villain logo on the back. It was all great fun, but now I wish I hadn't relegated that shirt to 'work shirt' status. It was starting to fall apart, and I had to repair a large hole before the meet n greet. I knew Richard wasn't going to be there, but unfortunately, nobody there got the shirt - not even Pann, who I knew from one of Richard's other parties. Heck, we were opposite each other in a play for that one...

--moggie and mr.moggie as i will now call him are the sweetest people in the known universe... i must now add a room above my garage with a huge trap and containment field as i also play CoV and that's what bad people do to lil cutie pie's... muahaha tee hee

umm, eek? -

When I got there I saw a couple people in Red hats (turned out to be Auto Assault hats), and said Oooh I bet one of those is CuppaJo! (Turns out none of the three I saw standing outside were but that's ok) I also saw News 8 Austin there, so there was gonna be live/taped coverage somewhat. Too bad I wouldn't be at home to see the clips!
[/ QUOTE ]
I saw the News 8 coverage this morning, and you didn't miss much. Been there, done that and all... heheh. More importantly, none of the virtue folks were in it that I noticed... :^(
[ QUOTE ]
So then we finally got tired of that, and Moggie got a phone call from their babysitter so she had to leave to take their wonderful 10 yr old daughter (who drew a sketch of me outside, woo hoo! Fan art! now if I only had a scanner...), so me and Masaokun (i'm gonna butcher that I'm sorry) decided to go try to find us some seats.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, yer doin' fine. It's actually supposed to be "Masao-Kun" (which translates roughly to Mr. Correct, or even better, Mr. Right), but the handle system wouldn't take dashes. I'm considering just changing it to my eventual pirmary character, Glow Plug, and be done with it. It would make name identification much easier. But I've been using Masao-Kun on various boards and such for a while, and it's hard to let go... *sniff*

In my goodie bag I got a CoV T-shirt, a couple posters, a couple bumper stickers ("I'd rather be fighting villains!"), some stickers, a CoH "Bootleg Edition" cd, a Lineage 2 trial cd (it's a cute little mini-cd!), a couple packs of comics (a couple Blue King comics, and a couple Top Cow comics), all nicely bundled up. I will keep them in the wrapper and in 50 years when I pull them out of the attic I'm sure they'll be worth like, 2 bucks!Yay!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I was really hoping the comics would have included the original 1&2, since those are the only ones we don't have... I was also hoping the 'bootleg edition' key would have activated a power or costume option or something, but from googling it, it doesn't. I don't know who I'll actually be able to give it to, but still, it was free! Oh, and I love the bumper sticker! heheh

I had a LOT of fun meeting and talking to people, putting names to faces, and was really sad when it was over. It was fun, after we took the big Virtue picture, we were standing around just chatting as things around us were closing down. It was like the end of a Task Force! "Noooo don't call the contact! I don't wanna break team yet!" It's so amazing that what we do in game just automatically translates to real life and we were all able to just smoothly roll into it like it was nothing.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was rough having to say goodnight to everyone. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it was a blast, and I look forward to doing this again, but even bigger! (although we need to figure out some way to match character/forum names to RL people better, though... I have a few other ideas, but I'll post them when I have more time.
[EDIT] And this is why I'm not a huge forum poster... in the time it took for me to do this little bit, a whole 3 pages of posts got on there... You folks are scary! :^) -
[ QUOTE ]
EDIT: Oh yea, and the systems I looked at at Cyberjocks were only able to push about 40 FPS in the CoH large lab door mission. They must need me to clean up their gear.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention how they update their software... I was in the so-called 'Virtue Server Room' claimed by Angry Angel and Taxibot Hollow before we found out that every single one of the computers there CRASHED when we ran CoH!!! They decided to evict us and push a corrected install of Auto Assault (which wouldn't run on any of the other computers) to the systems in that room and another room that had the same problem and just make those rooms 'Auto Assault only' rooms. Still, things worked out better than I thought they would, as they had lots of other computers, and people tended to cycle pretty well. The Virtue server 'gang' managed to eventually snag a whole row plus a few others and have fun doing pictures and showing off characters. Great fun! -
[ QUOTE ]
it was great, Hollow and I loved it.. too bad we had to leave early but we're getting too old to drive in the dark and stumble in our front door in one piece... aww, did not get to meet plasma but loved all the virtuites there .. Moggie, her cute man, Rowr, and Nine Lives were sooo nice
[/ QUOTE ]
I know I don't post much, so a lot of folks don't/didn't know me, but I'm Moggie's man. I don't know about the cute part, though... It was definately a shame you folks had to leave early. Especially because of the picture shoots we did in *and* out of game!
I look forward to seeing all you folks in game and also getting together for another meetup. Cuppa did mention that they are looking at doing this again, but bigger, better, stronger... and on a weekend! -
I don't know whether to be frustrated or grateful that this is not on a weekend... One one hand, a lot of folks that would have otherwise been able to attend won't be able to make it, so it will be smaller and I won't be able to meet as many people. On the other hand, if it were on a weekend, I may not have been able to attend, as I keep my weekends pretty well booked. Besides, it will be a little more cozy this way - phone booth stuffing cozy, but still...
I haven't chosen any appropriate attire, but if you see Moggie, I'll be the big guy standing next to her... Not that anyone knows me anyways, since I don't post much. Oh, well... -
[ QUOTE ]
As one with a 38 Controller I think you all need to CHILL and let the devs do their job...
All I hear is selfish whining. The big picture is what counts and the devs can see that much better than you or I can.
And for you pure gamers out there... remember... The GM sets the rules and runs the world as s/he thinks they should go. If you don't like it that much, you can quit. There will be more players...
Thank you devs for all your work on a fabulous game!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe I stated my concerns quite maturely and succinctly, and without whining. But they are just that: concerns. Many people have been very disappointed by previous updates, and there is no evidence that these changes will (or will not) be any different. As stating my opinions HELPS the devs understand their consumers, and therefore HELPS them get more business, I don't understand how anyone could think that doing so is a bad thing for them! I don't think it's smart to stick my head in the sand and pretend everything will be all right this time. They have done a lot right in this game, which is why it's so fun, but they have also made some mistakes. Some have been rolled back, but some haven't. I don't want to see some of the characters I have spent many hours working on become un-fun just as things are getting good!
Also, I absolutely hate the trump card that people who don't want to hear other people's opinions use: "If you don't like it, just quit." Most of all, it's obvious. I will quit if the game becomes un-fun. But doing that hurts everyone: I don't get to play a fun game anymore, the company doesn't make as much money (I'm sure I won't be the only one quitting if things get stinky enough for me to quit!), and the game becomes less populated (nobody likes playing in a MMOG ghost town). I'm not saying everyone should bow and scrape to me for me to be happy or else, nor do I think I speak for EVERYONE. I'm just voicing my opinion along with other people here so the devs can hopefully make better informed decisions. Again, I want the game to succeed so everyone can be happy!
For my last post, I was 1-starred by 1 or more people. I can't believe how far in the sand (or elsewhere) some people's heads are! *la la la la I can't hear you!* -
OK, this is concerning me greatly... I certainly don't want to be a Chicken Little, but historically, every time they have focused on AT issues in the past, it has involved lessening the abilities of the better powers (call it nerfing, bug fixing, balancing or whatever you like). Sure, they will probably beef up some powers that desperately need it, but anything FOTM will likely get hosed.
Devs, I'm sorry, but you just don't have a very good track record in my opinion for these kinds of changes. I constantly feel like I'm playing a board or card game with someone who keeps making up or changing the rules in the middle of play to cheat and make it impossible for me to do well. I know that's not the intent, but that sure is the perception sometimes.
When I create my characters, I do the research and find out what other people find effective so I don't find myself in a situation where I chose stupid powers and can't even beat up on an even con minion or two. That's just smart playing. When the powers I chose get their effectiveness reduced, I feel like I am being punished for actually thinking before acting.
Despite what some readers may think, I'm not whining or complaining about the potential changes to Controllers; I am just stating my concerns based on historical facts. Until the Devs reveal their plans, there is no way to know what they actually plan to do. Statesman and the others have encouraged us to post our opinions on the boards so they know what their customers think and can (presumably) better serve us. So here I am.
I have greatly enjoyed the game and would like to continue to do so! So far, most of the major 'nerfs' have not hit close to home, but this one threatens to, as the characters I have had the most fun with are controllers. If they become even more frustrating to play, it could easily become a deciding issue on whether or not to continue to budget for CoH for my wife and myself.
NOTE: I don't read all the forums regularly, so I missed the original call for comments, otherwise I would have posted this in that thread, and much sooner!
