I would like to see AV's made where you any AT could solo them. No, I am not talking about making it easy by changing the AV. What I am saying is that all of the story arcs that lead to an AV fight should be made where there are enough difficult timed missions that a hero must complete in order to make the AV easier to beat solo. And if they complete the set, which you could tie badges to it if you want, then the hero could solo the AV with great difficulty.

I like all of your hopes for issue four. The one that I find that is the best is the one about stone armor. My question is would a look like an old Marvel villian (of course not a clone of him) Grey Gargoyle be okay with you and everyone else?
-
first I will say to Minchu that I would like being able to run on water with super speed.
The first point was differences in the defender and controller AT's. I am aware that there are some players (sorry I do not have any figures for the info in this post) that have said it was mistake to give both controllers and defenders the same power sets.
Controllers secondaries are the same as the primaries of the defenders. The same is true for blasters and defenders, blasters and tankers (some powers), and scrappers and tankers. Right now I cannot figure out anything to replace them with. I have a pen and paper roleplaying super hero game called Aberrant (published by White Wolf please go here to see a little more info ).
I feel that out of all of the super hero pen and paper rpg that I have tried this is the best. I have been looking for my copy for the last two days and have not found it. I know that if I had it I could sit down and come up with ideas that could make more distinction between all AT's. If you would have any ideas how you would go about this I am listening.
while I do not mind reading lists of hopes for issue four, I would like for all to put at least one to two more sentences in the list to explain their hopes. Just a short list of hopes can cause problems I far as I can see. -

Slotting meter/ instrumetntation panel
Can you give us some kind of instrumentation panel for slotting our powers, and keeping track of things, like damage resistance for tanks, scrappers, etc. Our bonuses as far to hit, damage, movement etc.
One really big weakness of the game is actually knowing what's going on, as far as how much good you are doing when you add certain enhancements and buffs. Plus I know its also possible to overslot powers that have caps.
Right now, it seems like only the experts that read all the forums and guides can keep track of all this stuff. Anyway this is a really basic intuitive feature that I actually would have expected to have from the game from the very beginning. But with some of the various nerfs and other game modications I think is especially necessary.
And as for a second request. Well another free respec I'm sure would be appreciated. Especially since I'm sure there are going to me more nerfs, and game/enemy changes in our future.

This is a first and the most interesting I have seen thus far. -
I will try to put everything said in this shorter post. You are telling me that I can only comment on things that I personally experience. Also, if everyone commenting on a certain subject are saying the same thing, based on their personal experience I cannot learn anything. Because I cannot learn anything from any player at all, whether in game or out of the game. I cannot even learn by reading the information the game provides me within the game, I must experience myself. It makes me feel that you are saying that I must read all post and say you might be right or wrong.
Look when I read a post I try to use logic and reasoning based on the knowledge that I have. Where do most players get this knowledge is from each other. Are you saying that you have not learned anything from anyone? Also when I read a post I can see the emotions and feelings of the poster.
The idea of customization is good only when used in moderation. Customization to the extreme will be impossible to balance. Tell me if I am wrong, some of the suggestions here are for weapon customization. If too much weapon customization (like costume and hero name) could cause more lawsuits than you could imagine. Customization you suggest would only be possible if there were no structure in the game. Without structure no balance. While I do not have as many comics as you do, I do realize that not everything in the comics can be put into this game and make it work. I have decided to leave this thread alone as far as posting. I will wait and see what happens in the future issues. If anything bad happens then I will say I never thought that could happen because I am to stupid to think about that and had to experience it for myself. -
I was not trying to tear him to shreds. I was simply expressing my feelings about his suggestions. Expressing your feelings about anyone's suggestions is what everyone else does. Are you saying that I cannot do that? Are you saying that everyone's ideas are golden, and I have no right to express my feelings on them. If so then you are just as guilty as you claim I am of trying to make him feel so bad that he will never post again. Are you trying to do that to me?
1.) How much of a difference between the defenders and controllers do we need and how would you do that?
2.) How would you increase world interaction?
3.) Power specialization at what expense? You said that you would be for being a specialist in one power at the expense of the other skills. Would say 50% reduction in accuracy and damage?
What about blasters that use the combo of perma hasten+stamina+stealth+alpha strike? I have read posts that have said that is the only power combo that some are using during their missions. They sneak into alpha strike range using stealth, then fire their alpha strike. They then use the perma hasten and stamina to recover quicker to be ready to do the same combo again.
I am afraid that this suggestion would cause players to specialize so heavily on one or a few skills that players would take advantage of this and only use a few powers clicking on the same buttons all of the time. Also if there are any enemies that would require a hero to change his use of powers would mean that now he has to use powers that are much weaker, powers that he himself nerfed. Good idea?
4.) New costume pieces he suggested was based on a task force mission. There are many players (myself included) that do not have the time to do a task force mission. Now I know that capes were added and you must do a mission to get them which I do not mind. If he was talking about adding new pieces that have never been there like capes then that would be okay to tie them to a mission similiar to the cape mission. Now if he was talking about new boots, gloves or anything else that is already there then no because it would be unfair.
5.) I see you think that I am talking about all levels even level fifty. Then what you are saying is that you hate the fact that this game has an end. Maybe you would be for a section of the game that would be like a Playstation game called "Jade Cocoon". In that game it had a neverending corridor. Are you saying that playing with alts is bad and you should be able to play only you main forever?
6.) How much faster do you have to be moving? Do all travel powers have to equal teleportation? You would be so fast that you could stand at the south end of Steel Canyon, blink your eyes and you are standing at the north end. Maybe you do not like to use the tram to travel.
7.) Seven I was unaware that Statesman said he promised to add space missions. I thought he said he was thinking about it. Also you yourself said that this will not be added in issue 4 or anytime soon. I thought that the title of this post was "Your Hopes for Issue 4"
8.) Are you saying that all power sets must have a toggle? Did you forget that /dev has at least two toggles, cloaking device and targeting drone? And what about /electric has a toggle Lightning Field? When I said that would make it an endurance hog, does not mean I was saying that all toggle powers and high endurance powers must be removed. There are very few blasting powers in the comics that are continuous.
Finally I guess that you like other players play games that allow you to do more than just fight the enemy. Those games allow you to destroy things as well. You feel that would be great to add in this game. Remember the reason why the heroes are not allowed to do this according to one poster. This poster had the best explaination why as far as I am concerned. He said it is because heroes have control over their powers. A suggestion like this is saying that you want heroes to appear as uncontrolled super heroes, instead of heroes with great control.
You know if what I did is wrong why make the same mistake and try to do the same thing I did. Why not instead of taking the time to rip me apart, show me why I am wrong and all of his ideas are the greatest thing that could happen to this game. -

1)Buyable temporary powers
2)More jackets
3)Long dresses
4)Logos on capes
5)Better organized contacts
6)More information in the Find/SG/Friends list (level, primary, secondary)
7)More simultaneous missions (3 is just too few)
8)A way to cancel mission (voluntary failure)
9)More branching storyarcs (a few already do this)
10)Customizible powers (at least the colors)
11)(and here's an unpopular one) more failible missions & shorter timers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the voluntary failing by canceling a mission, because there are missions that I have heard that are timed and team required and are not clearly marked. I do not know what missions they are, I have heard about them so I could be wrong. We do not need more failed missions or shorter time limits because the changes to the bosses, if issue three goes live as is will cause more failed time missions because players will have to leave missions to get more inspirations. How much of a failure rate are we talking about? I know that heroes do fail missions but it is rare they are more likely to lose a few fights, but still come back and complete their mission in the comics. -

1) More distinction between Controller and Defender shared powers. Give defenders a reason to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe there is enough distinction in their shared powers. Controllers secondary's are the same as most of the defenders primaries. We know that primaries are stronger than secondaries and that is enough distinction for me. Included would be the powers that they do not share would make enough difference.
[ QUOTE ]
3) Power specialization. Give character the ability to explore/research their powers, choose one, and develop that power and become the best at what he/she does in that aspect. I am an AR/Dev Blaster. Let me become a Sniper expert. Let me become a munitions expert with my time bomb and trip mines. Let me become a Rambo type with my Full Auto.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can be a sniper expert right now. All you have to do is to slot your six slotted powers with three range and three damage. Yes you would loss damage but would increase range and make a sniper expert.
[ QUOTE ]
4) Missions to acquire additional enhancement slots.
[/ QUOTE ]
How many total slots would you add? Right now we have a total of 94 slots (67 to spend and 27 that come with the powers).
[ QUOTE ]
5) How about missions/research to get unique costume parts, where one could quest to get an entire set.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that would be unfair to everyone. I like things as far as costumes go now that all pieces are available to all at level one.
[ QUOTE ]
9) Alternate character abilities. Something to allow anyone, no matter what their level, to continue to develop their characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
We already have that it is called getting experience and leveling your character by chosing slots or powers.
[ QUOTE ]
10) Raise the cap on travel power speed. Make a map wide teleport power as the final travel power in the teleport power set.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that the travel powers are fast enough.
[ QUOTE ]
11) Raise the roof. Let heroes adventure and fly/travel out into space. Missions to/on the moon or involving space/space ships.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bad idea to do this you would have to design space type map, as well as giving the heroes a new pool power to allow them to survive in space.
[ QUOTE ]
13) More interaction with the world. I want to interact with my world, not just have it push me around.
[/ QUOTE ]
We already are, we speak to contacts to get missions, report to them when we complete them. The people we save thank us. The villians mention us by name.
[ QUOTE ]
14) Additional AT's. I like the idea of a gunslinger scrapper and Sonic blaster. I like the idea of a weapons expert better I think. A Bullseye type character that uses multiple weapon types. How about a true magic type character. Spell casting, magic blasts, maybe power progression based on getting artifacts such as Dr. Strange uses like his amulet and cloak.
[/ QUOTE ]
The first part is not a new AT, what you are talking about is new power sets for all of the AT's. Second part, origins are just the source of their powers. The devs never intended for origins to have a great effect on the heroe's powers.
[ QUOTE ]
16) A blaster toggle attack. A continuos attack that deals damage. I.E. a continuos beam of energy/electricity/fire/ice/laser(for the AR people)
[/ QUOTE ]
Bad idea because it would become an endurance hog. Is you idea to make blasters use as much energy as defenders and controllers?
[ QUOTE ]
17) Random property damage. This a huge part of most any comic book is the random property damage that almost always occurs, possibly with an influence consequence for excessive damage to the city.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bad idea because after a period of time you would not have any buildings left to do a mission in. Yes property damage does happen in the comics, but will never happen here. Because the property damage in the comics can and usually is fixed by the next issue when the artist redraw the city. Paragon City cannot fix damage that fast.
[ QUOTE ]
19) Additional body types. I want a Blob type character.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think this is the worst idea of the bunch. The Blob type body would suggest you want to create a Blob clone. -
-A wider variety of missions then the ones that exist
-A customize mission generator and database. You could use the information terminals that already exist. Not only would they allow you to make missions but would also store those missions so others could use them as well. The only thing you would not be able to choose is the enemies you would fight. You would not be able to out level these terminals. Not being able to choose the enemies would add a little mystery to the mission. This would in time, keep you so busy with missions that you would never run out. I mean how many really use these terminals anyway, I rarely see anyone by these terminals. -
I agree with you totally. I have had a good group experience because of this, and this has caused me to make my own supergroup called Platoo Barata Nickto. I have used an altered phrase from a classic movie The Day The Earth Stood Still, because my blaster is based on the what if Klatoo the main character in the movie had super powers and came to paragon city.

[ QUOTE ]
Taking blasters as a first example being that I have a level 50 one, giving a blaster force bubbles is a rediculous imbalance of power. As it has already been stated, giving sets that offset the major weaknesses of the classes pretty much destroys the point of having archetypes at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
If what you and the op are saying are true, then the game has already destroyed the point of having archetypes. All AT's can get a boost to their defenses, get some resistances and increase their damage. According to your and the op, the only power pools should be travel and fitness and nothing else or make the other power pools were only the AT's that already have the benefits that they give to a hero.
The post that I have seen on teaming a grouping have made me feel that the only way to make people like yourself happy is to make teaming and grouping required from the first day of your career to your last. You could not even street hunt by yourself, because the streets would be too dangerous. Then they could ask a question, how many heroes does it take to beat a minion? Four, one to do the smackdown the other three to show him how it is done.
I forgot were I read it, but there was a post that I feel that is how this game should be for all. He basically said that he likes this game because it makes him feel like Captain America that is also part of the Avengers. His hero has his own adventures and his is still part of his supergroup that has it's own adventures.
If teaming and grouping is that important to you that it should be the further adventures of the team or group, why even bother about naming your hero. Just give your hero a number and make him a member of a team or group. I do agree that there are parts of this game that should require a team such as TF and trial missions, not everything. -
Since I do not know how to thank the development team for making great game. From day one I loved this game. I at first I loved soloing and thought that I would only team only once in a great while. The reason for this is because of playing pc games like Diablo. Also, with my first experimental characters I had bad team experiences. But that changed recently with a good team experience with my current blaster on Liberty. At first when this game changed in issue 2 there were parts that I did not like but now I either found a way to cope with the challenge or I love it.
I have full confidence that all of the changes that you and your team will be making in the near and far future will be good. I know that the changes will not be based on some of the silly suggestions that I have read. Instead, they will be talked about and tested before they will be made to make sure that the majority of the players will be happy.
Thank you and your team for making coh a great game, and tell them to keep up the good work.
sorry for the long post, but I did not know how to thank you and your team.
A satisfied customer.
