Don't fret too much. I ended up hitting a flagpole in a quarter-million dollar news van... square on the right side passenger compartment double doors. Let's just say 30 point turnarounds in a fairly confined space when you have very little visibility (Thanks to the switching bay in the back) and no one to spot for you is not fun.

I don't have a suvenier of the event though.

We want to make sure that the stuff we bring you is actually desired by the players as a whole, as opposed to a vocal minority.

This statement confuses me. If they don't want the thoughts of the vocal minority, why post on the forums? We kinda seem to be the vocal minority. For example, there are over 100,000 registered users for the forums, but typically fewer than 500 will actually be on and browsing this topic. That is less than 1%. I'd hardly consider that more than a minority, just as I am sure that all the people who play the game do not read the forums. Some are not even registered.

Well, they can only work with what they've got. They can't call up the other 95,000 players and make them vote for a power. They'll have to assume that if the power Growth, for instance, gets the most votes on the boards, then that percentage also reflects the wishes of the others. It's not like the posters on the boards are a unified group that all want the game to go in a particular direction. The mix of opinions found here aren't likely to be very much different from any random group of players surveyed.

Actually that might not be true. The people on the boards are probably more interested in the direction the game is going. That's why they're on the boards. The people who don't bother will probably be happy with whatever they're given. If they cared, they'd be here.

They can send emails out to all users with valid email addresses as they have in the past (Holiday events as well as notifications of new issues going live [allbeit that the issues were usually deplyoed a few days prior to the emails being sent out]). It would be a simple task to assign each outgoing email a unique polling ID that expires at use so that each account only gets one vote but then you can truely have the majority of the user base have a say in the direction that they would like to see the game evolve. This would allow them to set a larger open window for the poll.

    I <3 blanket assumptions.
  4. If I may pose the suggestion that the polls be done in a longer than 1 day submission window and that notification emails are sent out to the playerbase as a whole in order to get the concensous of as much of the playerbase as possible as oppesed to the minority that read the forums and also happened to notice the topic and be able to participate in the miniscule submission window.

Descriptions of the powers' effects, concept and "look & feel" would be nice as well even if it is only used as a ballpark estimation to give us an idea as to what we are actually voting on.
