How many times, Moridin, did I say "Blasters need help" in THIS thread, in the last 24 hours?
Are you blind? Are you a bot?
I have demonstrated to my own satisfaction that TWICE the damage, with the same level of defenses, wouldn't bring Blasters to parity.
Do you want to have an argument with me, or do you want to go back to inventing arguments you can win? -
G_S: Where are you getting those numbers?
Whirling Sword is listed in the Brawl Index like this:
[ QUOTE ]
Whirling Sword - 2.7778 Lethal + 0.2778 Lethal * 3
[/ QUOTE ]
That is to say, 2.7778 on the first shot and three .2778's. So about 3.6 total.
This roughly matches with my experience: it's like hitting someone with Slash, plus a little bleed-over-time damage.
If your numbers for Whirling Sword were correct, I would be able to jump into a batch of yellow minions, hit Build Up/Whirling Sword, and they'd go down. I can't do that.
If your numbers for Whirling Sword were correct, it would do more damage in a larger area than Headsplitter, and I'd get it at level 18.
I already agreed with your basic point, I just don't want to come back in a week and find out that "Broadsword Scrappers outdamage the AR nuke with their level 18 power" has become a locked-in error, like "Blaster Tough is 10%" did. -
While I could say things like "Fire Breath does 4.8 Brawls Cone AoE? Yow!" and otherwise argue details, I'm going to give the short version of my speech- you've heard it before, see my sig .
Blah blah Aim AND Buildup beats Buildup. Blah blah four times the Area Effected. Blah blah regular application of nukes.
Blah blah ability to hit same guys with Cone and Sphere AoEs.
Blah blah Blasters end up doing more damage for the same Brawl Index.
Blah. -
Great_Scott: You've got a math mistake.
From the Brawl Index thread [and from my own experience] Whirling Sword is 2.777 + (3* .277) . Note the decimal points: that's 3.6 total, not 11.1 .
Whirling Sword is probably more like M30- I don't know, I never got an assault blaster past level 6 or something. It's fairly comparable to Fire Ball, except for covering about 1/4 the area.
I'm only arguing specific facts here; I agree that "Blasters need help" but I will never agree that "Scrappers outdamage Blasters" because. . . we don't. -
They get higher brawl index attacks because their brawl index is lower. . . just sayin'.
-
I don't have much to offer in this thread but I've noticed the "rule of 3"/"buddy system":
It takes about 3 shots to down the minions you'll be fighting - especially on a team. 2 shots tends to leave 'em in "sliver of health" territory.
A blaster has, generally, 1 or 2 good AoE's.
Two blasters, have, generally, 3 AoEs between them.
If you're facing a minion-heavy group, you can reduce it to a couple of crispy lieutenants and one or two lucky minions in the first. . .oh. . .3 seconds.
(Timing is important on this one. Practice with your buddy on small groups first.)
It's another tactic in the arsenal. -

The dev's were never able to back up thier exaggerated claims. They were still determined to make the changes regardless. They were unwilling to admit thier claims were wrong

So what are going to do? First, APOLOGIZE. Yeesh what a mistake. Thank you all for putting me to task. Second, I've put a hold on pushing I4 live until we retest the Scrapper defensive sets (and we'll post the results again). If the changes are too much, we'll roll them back as we've done before. But under NO circumstances will the current Regen changes go live until we own up to our mistake and retest. And I'll continue to interact with the community on the results!
[/ QUOTE ]
. . .I know who I have more respect for. -
[ QUOTE ]
No recent response to an issue -
Many times, if you do not see a response from the dev team about an issue then either investigation is ongoing and no conclusions have been made yet or the dev team is satisfied with the issue as it is. I want to stress that even though this may be the case, they are always reading your feedback and taking it into consideration.

I'd like to add something to this:
Internet time is not human time.
By the time I find out something is going on, as a player who spends too much time on the forums, there's already a 200-post thread on the topic, maybe more. If you're a developer, and you get stuck in a 2-hour meeting, you could have a THOUSAND POST THREAD by the time you get back.
So people on the forums go "What the beFriend? We have this huge thread and have gotten no responses from anyone on it!" And the thread started 36 hours ago.
Hell, it takes me a week of advance notice to get my CAR fixed.
Fixing things right takes time. -
[ QUOTE ]
what are you fighting that you can only hit once out of 5 attacks?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna guess "the forces of rhetoric and bad math" but it could be a PvP thing, I dunno. -

More buffs = MORE LEVERAGE! -
I think the hardest character to play from 1 to 30 is "your first". Period. Of course, that's also the most fun, because everything's new.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Anyway, I'm still playing him today, He has loged over 500 hours of game time. And yet, he is yet to reach level 50.
Infact, not even close. 41 after 8 months of playing. So much for that Scrapper Advantage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh. My first character, Boltcutter, is level 40. After 480 hours, more or less, and 9 months or so.

Although, against single targets, scrappers can do unholy amounts of damage if they HO themselves to +300%, use build up, and then score a crit (which bypasses the scrapper cap, btw).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm starting to get irritated when people talk about the top 5 levels like it's the entire game. I've been playing for NINE MONTHS and I don't have Hamidon enhancements. 460 hours- if I played 9 to 5 as a job that would be three months of work. On just that one character.
It's bad enough when people ignore the pre-32 game. . . -

Blasters have better final powers in each powerset (Primary and Secondary) than Scraps do. Although I guess some of those perma-MoGers and perma-Unstoppablers might argue with me. But have you guys seen Nova? Wish I could do that with my Scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish you could too so you would see the downside. You wouldn't like it much when your endurance all goes away and you defensive toggels drop. Oh wait you sill have more HP's so you'd still likely survive. . .
[/ QUOTE ]
. . .Have YOU seen the downside on Unstoppable?
I'll see your "zero endurance, toggles drop" and raise you a "hit points drop to TEN PERCENT."
And of course what I get for this is. . . in my specific build, 12% more resistance to Energy/Elements, and more Endurance, for 200 seconds.
Oh, and Unstoppable can no longer be perma'd.
Nothing out there does as much damage to me as my OWN NINTH TIER POWER. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe I make sammies faster than some, but I think I could make one before my friends old /Invuln died, as long as DP was on.
[/ QUOTE ]
And there's the key phrase: "my friends old /invuln". Because everyone- me included- remembers their OWN deaths so much more clearly.
I'm not taking any sandwich-making bets. -
Slightly modifed SFCStaley's quote:
[ QUOTE ]
The higher level villians all seem to have a great deal of smash/lethal resistance, as a Broadsword, claws, MA, or Katana scrapper, this limits my ability to be the damage king.
[/ QUOTE ]
See if you can spot the difference! -
Leadership is the @#$% heartbreak pool for me.
It would be SO good if EVERYONE took it. But nobody actually wants to take it, slot it, and run it. Everyone wants someone ELSE to do it.
I've been "the guy who took it" and I've been the only person on any team to take it.
Even if THREE people were running slotted Maneuvers, that's a "ghost defender" on the team.
Such potential, wasted because human beings do what human beings will do.
