I'll take a crack at Dark Sparky, unless you had someone else in mind. What are his power sets?

On the contest page, John has a link to color reference for the characters. But when I click on it, it's this tiny mobile phone version that is very small and I can't seem to navigate through the images. Any other way of viewing the reference?

This is Battlewraith on a friend's account. My account has expired, so I've been using his to post on the forums (I don't think he's playing either, but his account is still active).
Too lazy to type "This is Battlewraith on a friend's account" every time, I've just been putting "/Battlewraith" in the beginning. -

Anyone know if Kodiakx is still playing? I checked his deviant page but it doesn't look like he's logged in for several weeks. -

I don't know of any sites specific to doing post on 3d. But for digital painting in general I would check out conceptart.org. There's a wealth of information there about digital rendering, anatomy, etc. -
I'm not sure exactly what I used. I have a couple dozen that I've downloaded from the web. Usually I just pic what seems appropriate at the moment. Looking at the image I think I might have used two different ones. One gives a random distribution of a blocky shape. The transparency changes based on pen pressure.
The other one was a square brush that has the orientation set to the direction of the stroke and the opacity set to pressuer. -

Lol, um ok. I drew a rough sketch in pencil and then scanned it in, then drew the rest of it in Photoshop. I painted all the dark pattern over everything with a custom brush that has some transparency to it. Then I gradually pulled the midtones and highlights out with successive layers that went on top. I used a lot of texture brushes to try to differentiate different materials like metal and skin. At the end i painted some highlights/reflections on the side of her body that were in the shadow to help the form pop more.
It's pretty much straight photoshop painting. -

Well last time I checked Gill had a contract people signed when they commissioned him that did not allow them to alter the work in any way (including coloring his linework). The only reason I mention it is that it would suck if through some weird turn of events you had another artist finish one of these pieces and then you were forced to remove it.
I will also probably be open for commissions in the near future. Here is a recent black and white piece I did:

I'm doing some new pieces based on my current approach to digital painting and then i'll be reposting a price list/queue etc.

Hey all,
This is Battlewraith posting on a friend's account. Here is my latest cox art, a digital paint of my ice/cold corruptor Purple Twilight. -
Hi Crestent,
This is BattleWraith posting on a friend's account. I think you should focus on 2 things:
1. Anatomy. This is the foundation for figurative art and something you will be learning for as long as you continue doing art. If the anatomy of your figure is incorrect, the picture will suffer no matter what else you do. I'd start with heads. Do straight on, then profile, and then 3/4 view. After you've learned those, start with more complicated angles and expressions.
2. rendering values. Rendering forms through the use of light and dark is something essential that artists need to learn. If your line drawing lacks accurate shading, the illusion of depth in the picture will fall apart. And you should really have a good grip on things like defining your lightsource, placing shadows, rendering bounced/reflected light (radiosity), etc. before you get into color, which will complicate things by adding warm/cool colors, saturated/desaturated color, etc.
