I gotta say it: TA I love ya, but you're killing me. For 3 reasons.
1. Lead loss. When I got started doing commissions here, the general rule was that people participated in the forum and usually contributed free art to build good will. Now there's so much shilling for people on DA that this doesn't seem to matter any more. Yeah I know some of these people participated in the past, but a lot of them never even played the game. How many of them have done an art thread like Cashoo's? Does that matter? Personally I think it should count for something.
2. Getting a deal. Just because someone is having a sale doesn't necessarily mean there is increased worth. Some of these sales really aren't better than a lot of artist's standard rates.
3. Sale items. You get what you pay for, and even though there are a lot of talented artists doing pieces the result is a lot more provisional, sketchy work. It's sad that there's so much emphasis on cheap art now. -
Hi guys,
I'm going away for a long weekend. I'll have my sketchbook with me, but no computer. So there won't be any uploads until probably the middle of next week. Thanks for your patience! -
Thanks TA. Funny thing is that pic totally reminds me of someone who used to play on Protector, lol.

Quote:Yeah I get what you mean, but I think it's wrong. I don't think the people attending PVPEC events had anything to do with your coalition. It would be like me blaming Hammi raids for base raiding not being popular.
We were talking about the PVPEC, along with those others, as one of the reasons players did not flock in droves to Praesidium forums, channel, events. In other words - they had other things to do, PVP being only one of them.
You had a regular Thursday night badge thing, I have no idea whether it was related to the Praesidium. -
i read that as "illegal gathering of feces"

Quote:Wow, that's not my experience although it may depend on what you mean by "getting by." Yeah I can go into RV on an SOed buffer and do alright because I know what I'm doing and am generally teamed up with good people. Lately I pretty much run around on my rad/pain dom in Siren's and I'm either solo or teamed with strangers.
The point is that in zones, if you're a good player, you can get by even with just SO's. I do. Of course I'm also probably the most oldschool PvP'er left in the game, so I do have the experience. But that can be learned.
IOs make a huge difference on that toon. Fighting other people, I can tell right away whether they are IOed or not. Pre-IOs I was extremely squishy. With my build about halfway done, I can hang with most characters except purpled out blasters. And it's blatantly obvious when they are purpled out. IOs are still a big deal, it's a great distortion to say otherwise. -
Quote:The PVPEC had nothing to do with the success or failure of the Praesidium. I would contact people from the organization, or go on the Praesidium boards to drum up interest in an event I was hosting--and nothing ever came of it. I had friction with Stalemate over holding events on Thursday night, which is when he wanted to badgehunt. That's it.
Grey's explanation of why the coalition faltered is spot on. PvPEC, PERC, the Superolympics, Jello Shooters activity were all on the upswing at the time and the people in charge at the time did what they could, with what they have.
Btw, to whom is the new Praesidium meant to cater? What kind of player? -
I had a more elaborate idea I spent some time on, but I think it needs more time to cook.

My goal for the book is to have: 1. these preliminary sketches finished in the book version 2. additional sketches of the characters. 3. whatever personal art I make during this time and decide to include.
I'm doing these teaser sketches so that people don't have to wait a long time to see art of their characters. If I do a preliminary sketch of a character that is really naughty, then most likely in the book there will be other drawing of the character that complement that by being straight up action, or a redesign or something (unless you're suichi, which means they could all be naughty).
Some people have instructed me to do pics that are very mild pinup, and nothing further. Some characters seem inappropriate for anything really wild. So there will be a range of stuff in the final book, and there will be more variety than may be apparent looking at these initial sketches. -
Hola,
I added a sketch of one of my characters that will appear in the book. -
LOL like there's just one.
I think an epic defeat would be Thor's Assassin defeated by Carrot Top, but I don't want to go into more detail than that because it would obviously influence the remaining participants. -
Quote:Indeed, and if you pick the right characters you can kill two birds with one stone and do the "defeat" and "victory" in one picture. That's the smart way to do it people!
Hm, this is an easy theme to slip in some kind of bondage...
Another nice thing about bondage is that it signifies defeat without having somebody beat to a pulp, burned, cut, fried by laser blasts, etc. -
Hi guys,
I've uploaded a sketch of Ransim's Cherry 9 to my gallery. -
Lol how old were these dirty old men? 30?
-
Glad to see you're still drawing, it's been a while. Nice work!

I'm voting Foo this time.
Shia has immunity so it would be irrelevant to vote for him. I think Aprosaath's concept is very moving but the execution at this point doesn't really adequately support the idea. Foo's layout is good and communicates the idea very clearly. -
Hi guys,
I just added a sketch of Professor Blues' shaman character Raven Windtalker. -
Herro,
Added a new sketch. Agent Helena Collins' failure to read the manual leads to dire consequences.
