    Superhero quiz

21/21 but only because I read that Captain Courage is a strange one so I knew to look for an odd one going in.
  2. Darke just learned a new word that got around the swear filter.
  3. Random Jet Li ideas:

    * He's a new trainer on the isle in issue 5.
    * He's a new hero who's body was taken over by Sister Psyche in the events leading up to CoV
    * He is actually a she, that's just Mynx without the catears
  4. I thought Recluse sounded like Patrick Stewart.

Simply put: I'm more excited for CoV than I was for the last 4 and future issues combined. I can't wait to get into early beta and then pre-order. It'll be like rediscovering my love I first found for CoH when I logged in the first time all over again.

and I also saw the hero guy with the bow...yeah Apollo will live

    That's Manticore.
  6. I think we know the answer to that, Brimstone: Forced IGN-like delay page forcing people to read it and click through.

    Okay, bad idea.
  7. Let me just say it all now and never look back:

If the regen nerfs meant anything, I would be right there complaining with most of you. I'm a blaster. I team almost always with a regen scrapper. She's not a maximum build, but she can hold on to her own. She doesn't have stamina, but she makes up for that with dark consumption.

When the nerfs first hit, I was worried for her and, by extension, me. If we team in the arena, how would our team do if she kept dying. But then she tested it. First she hung around after a Hami raid on Pinnacle and fought some Lattices. She found that she couldn't beat it and they couldn't be her. Then she went over to test and found the same kind of Lattice in the same Hive there. She attacked it and found that while she took a bit more damage than before, she healed it back before it ever became a factor. Never once was she at risk nor was she even in the red. She doesn't have dull pain perma or any of that. She didn't even change her slots from live to test.

Later that week, we all decided to do my Malaise/Rikti mission for influence. We were a team of 8 50s set on invincible. Upon entering, the mentalists QUICKLY dropped the team because we weren't paying attention... except for the regen scrapper.

Last night on live, her dark melee/regen scrapper faced my dark melee/invul scrapper. As a final test on how viable regen still is and how little the nerfs hurt her, she ran a life without instant healing. Took me a minute and a half to kill her. Then she ran without integration. Took me a little over a minute. With both running at the same time, I couldn't even get her down to 90%.

So that's why I keep posting. It's just like the 30 different threads from angry SS tankers about how they couldn't keep aggro with Rage's drop. Then, after it went to live, I finally got fed up and tested it with a SS tanker and found you COULD keep aggro with it. Yet the angry attacks on the devs continued.

    You're mirroring what you're complaining about to a "T"

Could it be... someone finally caught on to what I've been doing?

Damage Control is in effect and if you do not think so ask why was the SS/SJ OFFICIAL THREAD LOCKED?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because they started another one with the new idea Statesman had for SS/SJ?

So you just rant on without every reading? Can you read? If not, we can make some pretty MS Paint pictures to describe just what you are missing while you are ranting about how the sky is falling.
  10. The only other powersets I can think of that can actually do enough damage and take enough damage to solo an AV is illusion and fire controllers.

Regardless, how was regen nerfed in issue 2 again? I really want to know.
  11. Okay, I'll bite: how did they nerf regen in issue 2.
  12. We had one post from Geko detailing the exact math of the regen nerf and giving the point break reason why regen was nerfed in the first place.

We had Statesman post a bugged test (only one of many tests done to decide if regen was overpowered) and then apologize within hours for the broken test results. He gave you respect by truly saying he was sorry for what happened and that testing would be done in a corrected environment. When the new tests came out, you simply chose not to believe them, or to pick them apart so that any little thing could mean they were broken again.

Just because the devs didn't say what you want to hear doesn't mean they didn't show you respect. And with the level of insults, conspiracy theories, and outright lies the vocal minority has provided in the last few weeks, it's you that needs to earn respect at this time.
  13. Hmmm... a post where someone tries to compare their compaign to be able to solo AVs with the great revolutionaries that fought for social change.

I can't tell if this is more or less offensive than someone comparing the regen nerf to the Holocaust.

Regardless, good post CuppaJo, even if some people don't realize the way they go about getting their voice heard just makes sure more people ignore it.

    Pinnacle Events

Oooooh, rp? Can I play a battalion commander?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If by battalion commander, you mean "cannon fodder." We'll all be cannon fodder (you'll see what I mean when the event draws near).

    Pinnacle Events

    [ QUOTE ]
So this supposed event is a Pinnacle exclusive?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes indeed it is. Sadly, the event won't feature any new villains or anything. But hopefully people who participate will enjoy it as the story builds on the forum and Carl and Sons continue it in-game during the event. With a tiny bit of roleplaying and a tiny bit of immersion into the game environment, I think it should be a blast.

    Pinnacle Events

Hopefully this thread will be pinned down soon so we can easily keep track of upcoming events.

    Upcoming events:
    * For those with the test server running, I will continue holding Monday Night Intern Battle Royales, maybe even with special guests, every Monday night at 9 PM. Come join us and die repeatedly at level 5 to have the most fun. When issue 4 hits live, these battle royales will continue weekly at the same time on Pinnacle, with results being posted every Tuesday as well as an Intern Championship awarded to the hero with the most kills each week.

    * -Spoiler- Early foreshadowing has started for a new event being planned for the launch of issue 4 on Pinnacle only here and here. More information (and out-of-character instructions) for this event will be posted within hours of issue 4 hitting the live servers.

    Blaster role

I think the biggest thing that needs to be looked at is how every other AT can up their difficulty once they hit their mid-30s while blasters sometimes can't even complete missions on heroic without teammates.

Make it so we can at least solo effectively enough to handle anything tenacious gives us. If a defender can do invincible with his debuffs alone, I should be able to at least to +1 enemies with my "superior damage."
  18. Friggin_Taser

    Blaster role

I definitely agree that snipes should be the first thing that's looked at for blasters.

    1. Lower animation times across the board for all snipes.

    2. Make sure enemies' range attacks can't go further than blasters' snipe attacks. It makes no sense that we're locked in an animation time for 5-10 seconds to do a range attack that's countered with a rock being thrown the same 100+ feet at us.

    3. Give snipes a "bullseye" critical. Just like scrappers, some snipe shots should be able to one-shot a yellow LT, especially if you used aim and build up with it.

I played 720 hours on my blaster to get to 50. Then I spent only 250 hours to get there with my scrapper. When I had my Nemesis staff from 25-38 on my scrapper, I was a tank mage. Snipe range distance with no interupt charge, cone AoE damage on things that got too close. Add to that I had soul drain and invincibility and I was almost a walking Nova every mob. Thankfully they nerfed Nemesis staffs for heroes. Now we need them to nerf any other range attacks for enemies. Or at least give us means to mitigate damage from them even just a fraction as much as any other AT.

    Blaster role

And as for the whole scrapper/regen thing: it is disheartening to blasters to see issue 2 be so scrapper-centric (criticals introduced, new katana set, etc), issue 3 be so scrapper/tanker-centric (punch-voke, changes/nerfs for good or bad), and now issue 4 continue to revolve around regen/DA scrappers. The fact is that Statesman himself said that he feels that elec blasters needed a little help since they dealt sub-par damage back before issue 3 hit live. Since then, we haven't heard anything about blasters until he flat out told us "Scrappers do more damage than you and have defenses" in the new Ask Statesman article.

"What can blasters do that scrappers can't?" Apparently they can be ignored better than scrappers.

    Blaster role

(Just replying to the last post, this is not targetted at anyone)

Phew, I can't believe I read all 21 pages of this thread.

    Here is my opinion:

Right now I have a level 50 elec/elec blaster who thrives in PvP using mainly just his secondary melee moves. Why? Because almost every other blaster primary does more damage quicker than elec, so if I'm one on one with another blaster I have to get into melee with them. I survive in melee in PvE mainly because of tesla cage and short circuit/power sink. I don't have tough/weave or phase shift on my blaster. Just flight, hasten, stamina, and Force Mastery. I have been killed quite easily while using the Foce many times. Many many times.

One major problem I have with blasters right now is the new rule of "defenders should drain endurance better than blasters." Electricity blasters depend on one main move for endurance drain: short circuit. That power is primary power. Make it so a kinetics defender drains the same endurance as a blaster, but don't let an /elec defender drain more with their secondary powers than we can with our primary. That breaks the whole "primaries are stronger than secondaries" rule.

What blasters need is 1. some sort of "bullseye" critical on our snipe powers and 2. some ranged damage/status effect resistance. Nothing game breaking, just something that might take 2-3 more uses of a hold to chain mez us instead of just 1.

    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
And, of course, there's the complaint that some Secondaries have too many melee attacks - something that the Blaster avoids at all costs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Though a lot of us blasters have found a perfect balance between melee and range and love our melee moves. We could use a LOT of love in the post 35 game, but I don't think taking away our melee moves would be that much of an improvement unless you also added some kind of new secondaries that involved ranged damage. Though that seems like a lot of work.
