Well.. In case the devs are a little stuck with their SQL...
Code:That'll fix 80% of the problems off the bat!DELETE UserAccounts WHERE TrialAccount = TRUE AND AccountActive = FALSE AND ExpiredDatetime < DATEADD(d, -60, GETDATE()) UPDATE UserAccounts SET GlobalName = GlobalName + '_US' WHERE TrialAccount = TRUE AND USAccount = TRUE UPDATE UserAccounts SET GlobalName = GlobalName + '_EU' WHERE TrialAccount = TRUE AND USAccount = FALSE
-
My only questions are these.
I have 3 accounts on my NC master account. One is this one, two are trial accounts (one is a US one). The inactive US trial account I know for a FACT has the same global name as this one, though the login name is different.
I don't want that inactive US trial account taking my name.
What is going to be done about people with mutliple accounts?
What is going to be done about inactive accounts?
What is going to be done about trial accounts (inactive or active)?
As Miss Chief says, my global name is also my Internet identity. I use it everywhere. I will NOT be happy if I lose it to an inactive trial account. -

One thing about all this Praetorian stuff that absolutely irritates the hell out of me, is the lack of ANY of it in the live game zones. Kings and Steel are meant to be heavily damaged... Skyway is next... Probably IP too.. But we're seeing NOTHING of it in the main game world.
It makes NO sense whatsoever! They have Rikti invading.. Why not Praetorian raids? Update the game world to follow the new story line please! I doubt many will complain! -
Quote:Or you could come join US on the intelligent boy/girl servers instead.Okay, all you formerly-abandoned Europeans... PLEASE come play on the big boy/girl servers with us! If you come to Pinnacle and Virtue, you can bug me to take you on TF/SF/Trials, I promise!
Sorry, I know you mean well, but you across as REALLY condescending there. We might choose to join you, but not because you're the "big boy/girl servers", and not because we need taking on TF/SF/Trials. We're plenty experienced at the game ourselves, thanks. -

"Age of base RP"? Really? Not around here it ain't!
Anyway, have fun.. and you'll probably be back. -
Sounds to me more like F) Able to rip the soul from anyone who's player is willing to let that happen to their character.

Ellie has money sure, but she's worked damned hard for it and every penny has come from that hard work! She arrived in Paragon with just a hundred or so left from her £2000 savings that she left home with 18 months before, and for the first year or so, was quite dependent on the generosity of the people she met at the statue.
She's also not "mega-rich".. She's a successful business woman, but as we saw with my recent plot, when things go wrong, she can quite quickly get stuffed up!
As for power levels, that's kind of a difficult one and we've been into quite a lot over the last few years, so I'm not gonna go in to that again... -
Quote:Everyone gets a ridable flying shark combat pet, with head-mounted laser canon capable of downing a GM in a single shot.ive heard a bunch of new stuff in the last bunch of days about baf trial but the one thing i havent seen nor heard is the reward for all this
whats the reward or havent we gotten that far yet?
is it shards? merits? something new? and lets hope its alot more for having to do it with people you might not want to do it with. i can grab an awesome team of 8 no problems to wreck any tf. but when i got to start adding people or others join in thats where it gets messy . -
If in doubt, link to it as a PDF and add disclaimer warnings.
As for CB's comments. People used to once happily and freely give critique of stories posted in this and other threads; almost always unasked. Often, such critique was harsh but honest, and that's really the only way to go about it. Go all "softly softly" with terrible writing, and the writing will not improve.
No one EVER had a problem with it until that one time, and since then, there has been no critique.
That's not a good thing. -
Quote:Go for it! I'd be happy to read it.I think this is why I like Nightwalker so much as a character. In fact, I have some fiction and background I need to write up for him and post in the IC thread, see what people think.
Just remember though... If you want comments on it, you have to ask for them.. Since after certain personages had complete wobblers upon receiving honest criticism and wentcrying to the mods, people rarely offer it any more.
And if you DO ask for it, expect it to be honest. -
My main, Ellie, has killed. She's killed several times, and will do it again if she must. But in all that, she's not a killer and she's not evil.
She's killed in self-defense; she's killed to protect others when there was no other choice, and yes, she kills Nictus without mercy. There though, she has a complete canon "get out" clause as she's a Peacebringer, and as we all know, the Peacebringers are at war with the vampiric and evil Nictus.
Yes, I know I've questioned before whether vampires are actually evil, but the Nictus are an exception to that. They were once normal Kheldians who deliberately altered themselves in an attempt to extend their lives without needing a host. As a result, they chose to become energy vampires; feeding on others of their race in their selfish desire to live contrary to how their race is meant to exist. They intentionally became parasites instead of existing peacefully in cooperation with their host race.
Ellie's only real problem with regards to criminals is actually caused by her feline side. Cats like to play with their prey, we all know that. Ellie tends to do the same too; usually by stuffing them headfirst into garbage cans. She's also not aversed to dropping them from a mile up in the sky, though she DOES catch them before the splat.

Quote:I'd just like to point out, no actual PLAYERS are on my ignore list due to having vampire characters. I have zero problems with the players themselves and will happily RP with anyone. It's vampire characters themselves that I ignore, not by putting them on a list, as you can't seperate characters and globals anymore, but by just skipping over their text.6 pages and I haven't responded here yet.. And that while I am playing an evil character that is also a vampire. Now for FFM that doesnt matter anyway. As a vampire I am already on his ignore list. Pretty permanent I would say. My ignore list is rather empty. A good roleplayer can find ways to accept almost everyone. Even a legion of catgirls. So many alien or other dimensional races that resemble cats in the multiverse.
It's nothing personal, I just hate the genre. I find it shallow, stupid, massively overdone, and to be quite honest, completely unoriginal. But if a vampire characters player wants to RP with me, that's totally fine. Just bring a non-vampire character.
Same thing goes for elves.
Of course, people say the same about catgirls too, and that's fine! We each have our likes and dislikes, and I see no reason why anyone should have to RP with something they don't like.
The only players actually in my ignore list are the brainless gimboids who like to grief us when we're enjoying our RP. -
Quote:Then why bother at all, if you're not going to even play them properly? Those weaknesses are part of the genre. Ignore them, and you're just making a terrible character even worse. Next thing you know, you'll be watching Twilight and liking it...Thing is, though, if you go with ALL the traditional Vampire weaknesses, you'd never actually appear except at night, have to flee during in-game daylight and, generally, not actually have much fun with them at all. And theres zero point playing a characte that isn't fun, right?

Quote:Hey, I'm a really likeable guy in the flesh! The reason we don't bother arguing with FFM is simply that he refuses to consider opinions which aren't his own. He rationalises them out of existance, ignores them, or denies them.
Some of us still like him dispite all this! Go figure.
As for opinions. It's generally a lost cause to persuade someone else that your opinion should be their opinion, so why even bother? To each his own. -
Quote:Nope. I just can't stand Vampires, even before those stupid books/movies ever turned up.Out of curiosity, what would you think of an Angel style vampire who goes out of his way to feed off animals and other nonsapient creatures? Better? Worse?
I think they're a poor villain/monster, and think people should try using their own creativity instead of trying to copy something that's, quite honestly, rubbish.
With very few exceptions, vampire characters go on my ignore list as soon as I know they're vampires. -
Quote:Y'know... Putting extra stress on those words to perpetuate some kind of silly argument isn't gonna work. No, because they are not moral agents -- they don't have the capacity for comprehending the choices involved.
If it were sentient, it would be evil for the same reasons any other sentient thing would be.
I'm 100% right in my opinion of what is or isn't evil. You are also 100% right in YOUR opinion of what is or isn't evil.
Opinions are like that. -

Quote:Is a shark evil when it attacks swimmers? Is a runaway train evil when it crashes into a busy platform? Are dingoe's evil when they take a child?I don't understand the distinction you're drawing. What does it matter whether they're your kind or some other kind? Desire to inflict suffering is generally regarded as evil, without any need for qualifiers like "but only if you're doing it to things that are like you".
Of course not. So why would a machine, even a sentient one, be evil when it destroys? It's usually down to it being made that way, or because its malfunctioning, or something else. But evil? Naah. -
And decide to eradicate mankind, or such things like that?
Not really evil, IMO. They're not exactly eradicating their own kind, after all... It's more like with vampires.
Purely IMO, of course. You guys can define evil how you like.

^ IMO, "evil" is just... Too hard to do in CoH. 99.9% of the time people either just about manage "criminal", and then slip right on in to "criminally insane".
For example, take my pet hate: Vampires (Take them, please!). Many would consider them to be evil, but really, they're not. Not even close. What they are, is nothing more than a plasmavore, or haemovore. They need blood to survive, so they kill people and drink their blood. That's not evil, that's dinner.
Proper evil, IMO, would be something like really really loving someone, but then murdering them anyway simply because they're in the way of your goals.
NOT because you "wanted to", as that's already slipped into insane. But simply just because they're in the way.
