To anybody who's needed to get in contact with me, either by MSN or e-mail, my MSN account has been hacked into, and the password changed.
So until that gets fixed, send me a PM, and I'll give you my temporary address.
[/ QUOTE ]
BARSTEWARDS!
So THAT explains the rather odd conversation I thought I was having with you yesterday involving lots of leetspeak from your side, and a sudden disconnect when I asked something about Saturday...
And the rather odd name your username had been changed too...
PM away! -

Well, let's see.... Yes, the GGOOC channel IS our channel, and yes we have rules. These are designed so that people in there can actually have a nice chat,
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol!
Oh wait you're being serious..
[/ QUOTE ]
Why the shocked face? Is it really so silly to think we'd actually like a pleasant channel to chat in that doesn't disturb the flow of RP? Is it really so shocking to think we'd remove people from the channel that are arguing, and thus ruining peoples evening? We've had people turn the channel off, or even leave, because of some of the things said before. -
Never fear!!! There are ways around! Go to maps.google.co.uk and if you're at the Haymarket travel in, search on Travel Inn Haymarket, Bristol.
Turn Hydrid mode on and zoom in a bit. Looks like you can get through that industrial estate just sound of the hotel, onto the 1 way, loop around it (it's not far), and round to the hotel... (Which is a huge high-rise btw... and a worryingly small car park.. :S) -
Hey guys... Just been told by Hoplite that there are some major roadworks in the center of Bristol, so anyone coming along the M32 is boned (such as me!

Bridger? I think this thread needs to be locked :/

Actually... I think I concur at this point, so I'll report my this post (Mine, not yours Finn!), so that it comes to his attention. It's become counterproductive now.

[ QUOTE ]
As for the comment about me spamming powers... I have only EVER done that once...
[/ QUOTE ]
Ahem, you've done it every night I've seen you at GG, without exception.
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah I am a good RPer cos I can get into a role very well, I have played many different styles of RP and I know how its done and the general rules...
[/ QUOTE ]
Since when has the ability to get into a role, or even write good stories, made someone a good roleplayer? Purely in my opinion, a good roleplayer also needs to have consideration for others.
[ QUOTE ]
I also believe IMHO that yeah I am, you guys just don't like me cos a) I have an opinion, b)cos I said I don't like someone who is a friend of yours and c) I did a bad thing first time I came to GG...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm sorry you think that, but I don't think anyone at GG actually dislikes you, certainly not for the reasons above. In fact, last night, at the beach party, I distinctly remember speaking to your character quite pleasantly. No, what we didn't like was the spamming of powers and godmodding, which continued after you had been asked several times by several people, to stop.
[ QUOTE ]
Reading your posts also it seems you only picked out the negative points... are you blind to the rest of my post...
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I saw your entire post. I merely chose to reply to parts I had thoughts on. But here you go, I'm picking up every part now, just for you.
Excuse me though, for not commenting on your question to Ravenswing.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact is guys you are all giving my a bad rap cos I am actually being honest... I'm not gonna say "Oh I love someone" just cos you guys all do, nor am I going to say "Oh I will conform to your laws cos it's your channel" if your bloody minded enough to think that way FFM that's up to you, I accept you don't like change... which was what you said, no twisting of your words.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, let's see.... Yes, the GGOOC channel IS our channel, and yes we have rules. These are designed so that people in there can actually have a nice chat, without disrupting the flow of roleplay at GG. Nobody wants to watch a slanging match or any other kind of unpleasant behaviour so any of that from ANYONE, even another moderator, will result in them being removed from the channel. I think that's pretty resonable, but if you don't think so, feel free to discuss it in-game. Anyone removed though, will be told why in a /tell, and given plenty of opportunity to apologise to the channel (note I say channel here, not the mods) and return.
Oh, and if after someones removal, any of the mods get any abusive tells, or if it starts in local instead, they will be reported to the game GMs.
Oh, and I never ONCE said I don't like change. You're not twisting my words at all, you're inventing them. I happen to like that more people are coming to GG now, although it is now tending to get so busy that it makes following conversations somewhat difficult at times. No, what I DON'T like is people that are disrupting other peoples experience, including my own. It's griefing pure and simple, and if asking them nicely doesn't work, they eventually we come to the recourse of petitioning. This is NOT something we want to do.
As for your final paragraph, well... If you want constructive criticism, then the best I can do is to say this. In purely my opinion, it's good that you decided to talk about it, but I'm not sure doing it in the community forums was wholly appropriate. I'm sure Bridger would much rather it have been taken care of with PMs or game /tells. However, you did not, so it was opened to public view, and therefore public criticism. You say you've resolved your issue with Aisla in-game, and I'm glad to hear it; it is afterall, just a game, and holding animosity to someone over it is rather silly really. I just hope this serves as a learning experience for EVERYONE and we have no further repeats of it. -

(Someone tell me why I plan to start Tharcion again and get all the giref back?)
[/ QUOTE ]
A repressed self-persecution complex perhaps? Maybe some slight megalomania?
Or maybe you're just soooo fed up with not being able to do anything about annoying people, that you want that level of control back in your gaming life?
"My server, my rules, you arguing? Bye bye!" /kick+ban -
[ QUOTE ]
he was a very complex character or so I had it planned and was not intended to annoy people just because he claimed to be one of many beings who formed a dimension.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, IIRC, you claimed he had created OUR dimension. Now, when my Miss Ellie first met Luthor, he was loud, rude and obnoxious, and then started claiming to be some kind of all powerfull creator of everything. Well, at that point Ellie immediately began to take the mickey out of him, which he got infuriated over and started making all sorts of threats. Would have been interesting to see him try to carry them out and have Ellie ignore it...
Now, Ellie has seen plenty of people make similar claims, and she wasn't impressed. At this time you started sending me tells telling me he was an established character and to please stop ridiculing him. Thing is, Ellie was treating him as a nut simply because that's how he came across, a nut. So even then, you were trying to get me to go along with him, even though I'd never heard of this Luthor character before, and the Zealot character had only been around a few weeks to my knowledge; hardly well established. I did explain some of this when I invited you to team for a short while.
Besides, in trying to get me to have Ellie believe everything he said, you were trying to godmode me and my character, and Ellie IS well established; she's been at GG since June last year.
Eventually, after stomping off, he came back and apologised, and stopped being an obnoxious jerk. And what did Ellie do? She started to speak to him decently, instead of condescendingly. Amazing what not being an [censored] can do really.
Now, if you'd wanted me to act all scared of him etc, what you could have done instead is first sent me a tell explaining some of what he was, and asking me if I wouldn't mind going along with it. There's a good chance I'd have either said yes, or declined but agreed to keep out his way so as not to mess you up.
As for your problems with Aisla. She's actually a lovely person (I've met her in RL and will be meeting up again at the weekend, along with her partner and loads of others!). Now she can sometimes be a little touchy on some things, but honestly, you HAD been asked several times both IC and OOC not to continually spam powers etc. Ignoring her Saraya character when she very politely asked you to stop shouting inches from her (don't forget, cat.. sensitive hearing) was downright rude. She asked you several times IC, then asked you OOC and that's when the argument started.
I'm not going to take any sides about that arguement, but as a channel mod, it will NOT happen again. If it does, people will be removed from the channel. This means anyone, not just yourself. I'm quite frankly totally sick of some of the things that get said in that channel and from now on I'm going to bring down the hammer without mercy. -
Hmm... That looks a LOT like Inago, one of the roleplayers at GG. Inago is japanese for Grasshopper!
-
Inago is sixteen.
There's a new character around, Dowager of Sorrows, who's 17.
My Miss Ellie character is 21, so only just outside of teenage range... -
I cannot speak for others, but I certainly am. I've no wish to force the guy away from GG. I, along with the rest, would just like him to respect other players and quit with the godmodding, power spamming and general meta-gaming.
-
Oh there's nothing wrong with having fights etc at GG, as long as you're willing to accept the consequences of it, including the possible wounding or even death of your character!
-
Nah... I was referring back to what he'd said in GGOOC the other week, which Aisla kindly quoted above... Should have made that clear, sorry!
Either way, I hope this thread has served to show Zealot that so far, nobody else agree's with his position. And it's not a matter of people siding with their friends either; it's a matter of using common sense! -
[ QUOTE ]
Hey Aisla.. no worries about what anyone tries to imply about you, your friends know you better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed!
No one who knows you Aisla, would believe the insinuation for a second. -
Oh, something I forgot to add...
[ QUOTE ]
if you do not wish to be one of them that is your perogative, just don't act on it or talk behind my back, as I heard from Ailsa, most of you are adults, act like it and talk to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thing is, we HAVE talked to you. Several of us have tried sending you tells and we've asked you to stop in in GGOOC. We've also asked you to quit spamming your powers all over the place and yet you continue to do so.
Now, use of powers is fine every once in a while, but try to remember that you are NOT the only person there. Some people have less capable machines and can suffer severe graphics lag from such power spamming. Others find certain sound effects annoying after a time and so forth.
You could use the argument that they should turn their sound off, or move away so they're not being bothered. But why should they? One needs to be considerate of everyone at the GG meets or you can very quickly find yourself disliked and branded as one of the many 'tools' which often appear at the statue.
So, we HAVE tried to talk to you in-game, and you've replied with comments which indicate to us that you have no desire to listen. So now you choose to bring it to the community forums so I will say it again. We have fairly lax, commonsense rules at GG. These are there to make the whole experience more enjoyable for everyone and they are:
1) Do not godmod. All in character actions can and will have in character consequences. Expect unexpected people to react to your RP in ways you cannot predict. If you want to do something that involves another character, most will be happy to oblige if you ask them first in a /tell.
2) Do not spam powers. This is seen as rude and has a negative effect on others game experience
3) Do not presume to know anything about a character just because information is in their bio. Even if you're character is telepathic. You have no idea WHAT defenses a characters mind may have. If you want to exhibit knowledge of a character IC, then send a tell asking what's public, and what can be sensed.
Blackdove: I think what Z means is that's it's an established ability of her Number 9 character to be able to teleport people, and she WOULD try to arrest what appears to be a villain and teleport them to jail. However, in-game, she would only have directed her powers at the person in question. She would NOT have dictated their response as she has no way of knowing if they can jam said powers.
How do I know this? Simple, Z is one of the best RPers at the statue (IMO), and would not force responses on others. -
Also agreeing with Z, Wonka and Veskit here.
If you RP in a public place, then there is a simple rule. In Character Actions = In Character Consequences. Forcing actions on others, or ignoring their actions when they don't follow what you want, REALLY annoys them and starts arguments, flares up tempers, and generally ruins the night for everyone.
If you want to do things like that, move out of local range of other people.
I would like to say one thing about your "Luthor" character. You roleplayed him as a supreme being, even claiming he was the "architect" of our dimension. Now, most people find god type characters INCREDIBLY boring, as you cannot do anything to them. I made a mistake similar to this in my early GG days, and learned a VERY harsh lesson from it. He got chewed up and spat out publicly. Now, I didn't particularly like that, but it taught me a valuable lesson and I never took him back to the public area's again. His further appearances were away from the statue where he could only bother those involved in the plot. Although at the time I felt rather... annoyed... at what some people had said, I DID see their point. It made me a better roleplayer, and all of those people that jumped on me are now the best friends I have in the game.
As for the being silenced in the GGOOC channel, that was for a very specific reason but I will say that in future, if I see ANYONE arguing in the channel, they will be immediately silenced. Yes, even if they are a fellow moderator. I'm getting highly fed up with all of it. That channel is meant to be a place we can have pleasant OOC conversation without disrupting the flow of peoples RP, not an arena for slanging matches. -
IWe're aiming to arrive in Bristol for 12... Hopefully by then most of the footie hooli.. uh.. fans.. Will be in Cardiff by then getting tanked up...
