Aye, Z is right.

All submissions first posted to these boards in the appropriate month are elligible for nomination, regardless of what form they take.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, for next month, sure it's eligable. For this month, not so much. -
It was great. And I knew....just knew that Faithy was filming me when I started dancing right in front of her.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Took you all morning to think that one up, didn't it?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I was keeping hidden in the game, when I saw Max and Aardy discussing it, and I thought to myself, "Oooh." -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm still waiting on my supply of Villain infamy for MarquanDance.

We'll figure something out.
Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to address a very serious issue which arose from last night's party. I've been in the Forumites Channel for a bit today, and the channel was buzzing about the controversy surrounding it. One of the requested songs, as well as something I said, made an innocent party-goer feel very uncomfortable, especially since it came out from nowhere, and was an unexpected 'slam' against them.
Why did I do it? Well, to be honest, I thought it'd be funny. However, it was a low, stupid, and immature act by myself, and I'd like to take a moment to humbly apologise for insulting, and demeaning the individual in question.
So, I'm very sorry.
Zortel doesn't really love 99 Red Balloons. -

If Z looks like Countess Crey... and Grav looks like a green Z... would that make Grav look like a green Countess Crey?
[/ QUOTE ]
A seasick Countess Crey...albeit a blonde one.
...Is anyone else completely exhausted from last night, or is it just me? Seriously, I forgot how truly draining doing DJ work is. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh and FG? Any chance we could get that Eminem cover to download? It was brilliant.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really thought people would get sick of this by now.

The party rocked, shame I had to go before it finished. When's the next one?
[/ QUOTE ]
Whenever I recover from this one, really. Which could take a good long while. I got some great screenshots, though!
Et voila!
Again, I want to thank everyone who showed up, including (but certainly not limited to) Zortel, Max, Stasis, Weasel, Infy, FFM, Cybercel, Spawnus, Cappy, Faith, Chiefie, Catz, Dreadrock, Grav Mistress, Robbie, Jaq, and far too many people to count. I'd also like to thank all the Evo Radio DJs who helped me out during my set, and especially Spawnus and Xanthus for letting me play on such a great toy.
Everybody who sent in a request, whether it got played or not, thank you for listening. You managed to get my set up to 47 people, which is, to me, freaking awesome.
You guys made this party. -

I've got enough Inf to give a million to the winners of the Dance and Costume competitions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Max is a gentleman and a lady.
At least, that's what we're telling Rot Hood. -
Another quick addendum:
Due to time constraints, I've realised that I can't, sadly, perform the dance or costume contests. If I'd have had more time (thanks Xan) I'd have spare Inf, but you guys know what it's like.
But, don't worry, I'll get my own back on Xan.
Now, I've timed my set, and I figure it to be just about two hours. Everyone coming, remember to tune into Evolution Radio for the music - todays peak listeners currently sit at 22, and I'd really like to beat that. If we can double it, I'll be happy, and if we can hit 100 people, it'll be awesome.
So, tune in, and if you see anybody with a Boombox out, slap them for me (since I'll be busy with the broadcast) and tell them to tune into Evo! -
Right, little addendum for you all:
After being absolutely pelted with requests on the Forumites channel, I'm no longer taking requests. At all. You want to blame anyone, blame them. -
Right, important news for everyone!
Because of a mis-understanding (I thought Xanthus could read a calendar) the party is now TOMORROW night - Saturday the 12th of August, starting at 8pm BST, with a two hour live set from myself, The Fire Guardian, starting at 8:30 BST, and running till 10:30. -
The Media Player option's never worked for me, and I, personally, dislike Real. Winamp seems to be a happy medium.
-
The best way to do this is to make sure you have Winamp beforehand.
Then go to Heroes Radio and then, on the right hand side, choose "Play" under Winamp. Voila! -
See? Swissy and Scarlet know where it's at!
By contrast, the "Cutting Edge" book goes into the more recent styles of comics such as those released by Image, etc - take a look at Psygon's avatar sometime...it covers drawing like that. Very Campbell Scott. I'm looking through it as I write this, as it covers close ups of hands, feet, the male face (and very helpful pages on the anatomy of the face, including a basic guide to the muscles in the face, "hidden" and layered muscles in the torso, arms, legs, etc), how to properly shade a woman's chest (??) the contour lines of a woman's upper body, male and female dynamic twisting, how to draw...
"Sexy Eyes"
"Irresistable Lips"
"Transforming A Regular Woman Into A Seductress"
...You know, I just noticed that this book may have a recurring theme.
Anyway, it also covers styles such as Manga, drawing comic cook styled characters contrasted with animated show styled characters, "Extreme" body types, including werewolves, vampires, and, for some reason, a hugely muscular female elf gets depicted (anyone who teamed with me recently during a Cabal mission will know my reaction here - "Witches! With....rock hard abs?"), multiple point perspectives, and includes interviews with Billy Tan, Brian Denham, R.V Valdez, Talent Caldwell, and Nate Van ****.
Not that it's better than the Marvel book, far from it. However, I consider the Marvel book as the book for beginners, and, once you start getting to grips with things, and it becomes easier, it might be time to look at the Cutting Edge book, saince it's set up for intermediate, as opposed to starting, artists. -
I picked up two books a few weeks ago, specifically for drawing comic book characters. They offer some great advice (as well as helpful tips from Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, etc) about the basics, perspectives, musculature...and one of the books spends a good four pages or so talking about how to draw the perfect female ***. I'd recommend both of them, even if you won't see any drawings from me on here in the near future.
As has been stated, practice is essential...but, again, as you say, you need to know what to practice. Here're the books:
How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way (old school)
Drawing Cutting Edge Comics (worth it for sheer humour value)
If you pop into your local bookstore, they should hold at least one of these - the Marvel book is a classic.
Hope this helped! -
I think for now, Hawk, I'm all set, cheers. Since Pocket D can be reached through Kings Row, it'll be easy for newer players to get there. I'm thinking about holding a contest or two, since I've heard some things about how amazing the old Dance Contests used to be. I have a few million spare inf on various characters I'll be giving away as prizes. I have sent an e-mail off to Bridger, asking if NC Soft is willing to give Forum Titles to the winners of the contests (probably dance and best costume) but since he's on holiday until later on in the week, I won't hear anything about it for a good long while, so, for the time being, the forum title thing will not be happening. I only mention it now as a possibility, not as a guarantee. Whilst I'd like to see it happen, Bridger might not get around to reading the e-mail for a while (since he's probably going to get back and see his inbox bogged down) and may not actually read it, or reply to it, until after the party - in which case, it might have to be put off until the next one (assuming there's enough interest in the first one).
One thing which you can do for me...one thing which everyone who's coming can do for me, as well as yourselves, is to tell people about it. I don't just mean leaving a PuG at 7:55 on the 19th, and saying "I'm off to a sweet party with live music and Inf to give away"...I mean real, word of mouth, "Hey, guess what's happening next Saturday?" type of stuff. Naturally, I'd hate to see people sending Broadcasts about it, but, Durin gave me the perfect example a few posts up. He asked if it was okay to bring some friends.
Bring everyone on your Friends List! Tell them to bring everyone on their Friend Lists! And tell your friends to tell them to bring everyone on their Friends List.
I'm holding this for a couple of reasons:
1) I haven't hosted a party in ages, and I love to do it. Seriously, when someone comes up to me and says "Hey, man, great party", I love that stuff. It makes it all worthwhile.
2) It's a chance for people to, as I've said, meet other people from the forums in-game.
3) This is the type of thing that Pocket D is there for. People complain that it's under-utilised...do something about it! We're a community. It's time we acted like one.
4) I've noticed a few things recently. A new Forum poster made a thread about how cool it was to see me in-game. That was really touching, and it's something I feel whenever someone comes up to me in-game and says "Hey, you're the Ask A Ben guy!" or "I loved Paragon City, it was great, it's on my MP3 player". However, and I'm sure Weasel, Stasis, Duckdee, and anyone else would agree with me on this part...we're people. We're not celebrities, we just happen to post on the forums a lot. I want to demystify the "Cult" of the Forumites. I also (and this is an important part) want more people, who don't use the forums, to turn around and say, "Wow, this was organised on the forums? Damn, I better register myself on there and read every day to see what else I'm missing out on!"
This is a party by a Forumite, for all people who use the forums, and, especially, those who don't. But the people who don't know about the forums, or don't read them, won't find out unless everyone spreads the word. Even if you only tell one person who isn't on the forums, that's one more person we can bring into the community, and that makes it all worthwhile. -
Right, after a little test performed earlier on in the day, and pending permission from certain higher-ups, I will be performing a set on Evo Radio for the duration of the party.
The general theme will be as similar parties I've hosting in the past, at University, which went by the name "The Big Cheese". So, expect some old-school classics to be played, as well as some newer hits. Whilst I -will- be taking requests throughout, I'll be saving a lot of the newer hits for the end, so if you request any thrash metal, Garage, hardcore, etc, depending on when you request it, you may be in for a long wait. -

Episode Two is up, and, I have to say, I had a real laugh making this. There are so many cuts in it, just because I couldn't stop laughing at myself. For some old school cheesiness..enjoy. -

Excellent. After speaking with Xan at great length, I may well be providing the music. -
Hey guys. After laughing at the Defiant party tonight, I decided to hold my own.
And, also, have a party.
So, come to Pocket D on Saturday the 19th, 8pm BST, and meet your fellow forumites. I know a lot of people in-game haven't seen the in-game creations of thier Forumite friends, so this is a chance to say hello and gab the night away! -

Something I've wondered - do the French and Germans use the "l337" way of writing when using their own languages? Or is it purely an English thing?

Well, whenever it comes to writing down one of your C's names, it's always hit or Miss.

New song for you, which I worked on whilst the forums were down. It's the first song I've done with other Forumites, too.
Presenting: Team-Mate Number Five
(Featuring Xanthus, MaX, and Infy)
CoH or CoV
Everybody on the forums come to Pocket D
We're gonna bump and grind
Party every day
And we can listen to Xanthus:
Well I, I try to find a decent team
But with these ladies here, it's like an awesome dream
I know a Controller who likes to Tank
And her outfit's so tight, I have to run and thank
Whoever designed the chest sliders
I should make a female toon, I'd be amused for hours
But I get stuck when I have to choose
From all these girls, I get the blues.
A little Sumiyaka, heal me please
A little bit of Wamdue on her knees
A little bit of Snaedis, flying high
A little Miss Paragon passing by.
A little bit of Chiefie, kissing Catz
A little bit of Lauren, doin' the splits
A little Golden Girl with her necklines
Seven girls and me, well, that's just fine.
Well don't send me a blind invite
Cuz I'm with these girls almost every night.
They're gonna buff me up, until I snap
And give me reds to the damage cap.
An' when I, shift into Full Auto
With my massive gun, they want to have a go
They send a Tell, say it looks like fun
But it's just too much for a one on one.
With a skill like that, you need a group that's large,
An' their eyes get wide, and say that I'm in charge
So I, attack to protect my team
Pull out my Fire Sword, and the ladies scream
I got so many girls on my Global friends
I wonder will it ever end.
Do the Drumdance!
Drumdance!
Jump up and down, and fly all around
Then Rez me please, so I can get off the ground
And when you, send a Tell
Saying you're good in bed
It might go to my head.
A little Sumiyaka, heal me please
A little bit of Wamdue on her knees
A little bit of Snaedis, flying high
A little Miss Paragon passing by.
A little bit of Chiefie, kissing Catz
A little bit of Lauren, doin' the splits
A little Golden Girl with her necklines
Seven girls and me, well, that's just fine.
