Yes I understood that the devs didn't want Ice to have jewel tones. My first sentence could have been clearer but reading the whole short post should have made it clear. Sorry for the misundertanding.
This is one time where I disagree with them and I want the jewel tones.
I'll let them nerf regen and PVP again if i can shoot semi precious stones at people and encase foes in rubies and emeralds! -
During beta I vaguely recall reading something about the devs having a reason for limiting the colors available to ice powers specifically jewel tones. Am I remembering this correctly?
Some earth powers got a crystal option which has access to jewel tones and I feel something like Ice Blast would benefit from the crystal option and the added colors for thematic reasons.
So was there a big debate on Ice colors? Did other people like me want better color options for ice powers? -
Isn't the usual routine the issue goes live then about a week later the free respecs are issued? and not both at the same time?

I've had this happen of late too, at the end of a Katie and a Manticore most recently. The crash occurred when I hit exit after the TF completion. Usually it's the whole team that gets the boot. Nothing gets lost (badges, merits), it's just annoying.

I vote for that kin power that flings dumpsters at enemies, thereby altering line of sight and blocking smaller hallways occasionally.
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither of these things actually happens. Physics objects have no effect on line of sight and can't block anything.
[/ QUOTE ]
i hate to argue, but it does happen. maybe the line of site thing doesn't, but you definitely have to push those large objects, and they can and do get wedged sometimes in the hallways.
[/ QUOTE ]
They don't block movement.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah just shut off physx and you will never see them again. they aren't real. -
Are you playing on a laptop when you can't hear the sound? I saw it commented on in here that laptop speakers don't handle that particular sound very well. When I switched to a laptop, the glowie sound became very muted.

So you are saying that it is proper for the developers to pretty much punish players for wanting to play their badge characters? Because that is what it comes down to.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is such a key point. NO ONE IS BEING PUNISHED, BUT SOME PEOPLE HAVE MANUFACTURED THIS IDEA IN THEIR HEADS.
Play whatever character you want to play, you will still make progress toward the new badges. Sorry that progress will not be as fast as you want it to be. And that is the sad fact, its not as fast as you want it to be. You can still get them and get them all, just not in a couple of hours or days or weeks or even months, but many months to get them all. That is the prize of a complete collection, having the determination to do what is necessary to get the whole collection.
But then again, the devs adding new badges into the game "to pretty much punish players for wanting to play their badge characters" is so much easier to wrap ones head around. Everyone is a victim. -

You missed ....
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope I didn't miss it, I just didn't think it was a great post like you did.
[ QUOTE ]
You basically have said to badge collectors exactly that: "Continue to collect badges, but only collect some of them."
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes! Collect the ones that have importance to you and not all of them have to be important. If you do think they are all important to collect then do that too.
By proposing the 30 day offline time for day job badges, it would seem inherent that the system for these badges is intended to take a long time. And nothing more than that, just a long time to get some shiny badges and neat temp powers. The whole thing is not geared toward getting them all quickly, but you can still get them all.
Now some people come along and say," WAH! I have to log out my badger for a year or so to get all the badges." Well, sure you can do that, but truely thats not what the system is about. You play the game and as time goes on the day job badges are some of the badges you can work toward just like you can work toward any other goal in the game. You just can't rush or farm day job badges. Is that really such a bad thing? They should actually be more meaningful because of the time investment to get them.
But if the whole thing is really going to take too long, then boycot the system and don't colloect them or don't count them in your badge tallies.
At this point I really feel the whining has been enough that the time for day job badges will be shortened, and probably by a large portion. Personally I hope the time stays the same or if it is shortened, then only by a tiny bit. I feel day jobs should be more of a system for people to add to their toons different qualities and backstories more than racking up a high badge total. -
[ QUOTE ]
In this game every single badge is counted. Even the ones that Positron considers "not-badges": Gladiators. At that point your argument fails. If it looks like a badge, acts like a badge, then it should follow that they are badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
The game may count every single badge in the total, but that doesn't mean YOU have to do the same. You and the others to whom it matters can get together and agree which badges matter and which badges don't. If you don't like the vet badges or gladiators, then don't include them in your personal mental totals when comparing badges. Sure this might require a little extra effort on your part but it is really your extra mini game to begin with. Tons of people collect badges, but it really is a small amount that are fanatical about it, so take a little of that extra energy from badge hunting and put it to work on keeping your personal important badge total in your head. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think a lot *more* collectors would be disappointed if you found an item of the kind that they collect, but that they don't have yet, and waved it in their face saying "you like it? huh? huh? well too bad, you can't have it! nyah nyah! you should be happy with the ones you have already, it's not like you need every X in the world!".
[/ QUOTE ]
But no one is doing this. It will (and should) take time to get all the day job badges but you can get them all. But there have been badges in the past they were given out that you can no longer get.
Start a toon today, and it can get all of the day job badges in time, but it will never the first 4 anniversary badges. The only toons who can ever have ALL the badges are ones that were created early in the game's life and have been kept. -

Instead we get Mortician? Name me a comic book hero/villain who was a mortician?
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL
Actually, I was really happy to see this one listed since I run a number of undead guys. But talk about a pain, you need to logoff in a graveyard, heroside that means the far corner of Dark Astoria doesn't it?
And sure they had different jobs while alive, but even the undead want pretty skin. -
[ QUOTE ]
DJ [day jobs] the players are reward for not playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with this mentallity. It has come up several times. Day Jobs is NOT do not play and we reward you, Day Jobs is WHILE you are not playing, you can still progress to a reward. In all the time you have had an account, most of your time is offline. Now with I13, that offline time will slowly build up some extra flavor and badges to your toon. DAMN YOU DEVS FOR GIVING ME MORE! -

"Getting a badge for doing nothing isn't fun."
I'll tell you this right now: If this system went live, I'd get the badge before anyone here. Why? Cuz you're right: I'm a badger. Big freakin' deal. I'd do it at 10 days, 15, and gods forbid, 30.
That doesn't make it fun. That doesn't make it thematically sensible. That doesn't take away from the fact that the badge recording times are REALLY FRICKIN' OUT THERE.
Rewards for being logged out of a toon isn't "content". But that's what you're supporting, while turning a blind eye to the valid (and, I hope, equally constructive) complaints from the segment of the populace that knows WTH badges take to earn the MOST.
A reward for doing nothing is not a badge. You're right: Neither is Empath. Neither is Immortal. Neither are the vet badges. If I had my way, I'd see THEM removed from the badge system too.
[/ QUOTE ]
There have been mny comments about getting day job badges for doing nothing, well I don't feel that is completely true. You need to decide which badge you want to go after and then make the effort to goto the right place at the end of every game play session and log out..... you have to go to your JOB when you're done playing hero or villian. So you're getting a badge for going to your job.
Consider this: for defeat badges you need to kill a certain number of foes, many times 100 bosses. For a day job badge you need to log your toon out of the game at a certain place for a certain number of days. But how many times do you have to logout? As few as one if you stay away for 30 days or maybe 36 times after having play sessions of 4 hours each. Then you can move on to the related second one to get an accolade and a temp power. Bonus for you.
In the end you are doing somthing for the badge, about as meaningful as getting any other badge in the game.... like going to Perez with a high lvl toon to clear out skulls was hard or running a quick katie or a 45 minute ITF. So many things have been trivialized by speed demons, personally that sucks the fun out of my game.
For the die hard badgers who don't like vet badges or others that they think should be removed from the system: you all need to get together and decide which badges you all don't like as a community and then subtract those from your totals before you compare e-peens, I don't think there is any other way they are coming out of the game.
I like collecting badges, it is a level of fun for me. I see nothing wrong with the current plan for day jobs. I really liked the write up. Its a cool new flavor to the game. I in no way shape or form got the impression that we are getting day jobs at the expense of other content. There are plenty of new things coming. -

And for those of us with legitimate mental disorders (obsessive-compulsive collecting habits)? What benefit is gained from making us wait, inactive, and penalize us for playing the game we want to play it?
And not everyone wants to make more alts, nor do we want to play all the alts we might already have.
(As for "Gotta Get 'Em All," yes, I've played all the Pokémon games. For every single one, I catch everything that's available in the game... then buy a $20-40 cheat device to get those that are from the alternate copy or some kind of event rewards, because it's the only way I can relax in the end.)

You are describing a singularly specific pathology. You can have no reasonable expectation that this pathology can be taken into account by the development team when making decisions for the game. OCD sufferers need to seek proper treatment and therapy, not whine and demand game developers enable them.
I feel you are doing a disservice to people with legitimate mental disorders. -

some day you will realize that stalkers are assassins, and what good is an assassin that has to hit their target more then once, have you watched the movie The Matador about the old timer assassin that was getting soft and missed his target and his boss wanted him wacked, well Lord Recluse is my boss and im not getting on his bad side!
Marine snipers are trained to kill their targets in one shot from far away then disappear.(back in the day a sniper with one target would be given one canteen of water, 5 .50 cal bullets, a little bit of food, a 20 mile crawl and 3-7 days alone(sometimes with a spotter) in the middle of the jungle, if he missed his first shot he was usually screwed)
Marine Corps motto, one of many: one shot one KILL!! the devs made us, were perfecting it, and people are complaining, its ok to change it a bit but dont hurt us without helping us at the same time.

when both the assasin and the target are paying to play a computer game, these 'real world' examples do not work and are completely irrelevant
