    Really long hair

With the advent of the Valentines' pack, you can now have a tuxedo buttcape and a normal cape at the same time. Enjoy!

That's not what this thread is about. It's about having the ability for your character to have hair that is longer than waist length. Knee and ankle length hair is what this thread is about, and the ability to have it flow.

Well there seems to be good news on that front. If you've seen the bridle veil, then you know that having really long hair IS possible, and there's not need to use any tricks to explain why it only flows from the shoulders down.

The veil flows just like a cape, but it's attached at the HEAD! A talented costume creator like sexy Jay could replace the veil texture with various hair textures and create different ways of blending it with the hair on the head (various ties, etc).

We now know it's possible to have things flow off the head and we know Sexy Jay's got the skills, and now we just have to wait and hope he works his magic (and hope they don't charge us 10$ for it >_&gt.

If you use Cape options for hair the hair will look and flow like a cape and not necessarily like hair.

So your hair will hang down off your head get tied to your neck then flow down off your shoulders. That is how capes work. There are no capes that attach to top of head etc. so the flow wouldn't be right without a separate option.

Another problem is color. When you choose long hair in Hair you choose 2 colors and your hair color is a mix of the 2. You don't have that option in capes and people will complain that they can't create their strawberry blonde bombshell with only.

I'm sure there were no capes that attached at the butt when Trench coats came out, but waddya know they look like capes that attach at the butt. When you use them they also prevent you from using capes (you can't have a butt cape and a normal one at the same time). We see that it IS possible to have capes attach elsewhere, so it's possible that that some can be made to attach at the head.

Jay, having said that we are only allowed to have one cape, has ruled out us having things like loincloths, tabards, Mu capes, and flowing hair.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which would go along with what we're asking for.

Have a normal hair piece be the start of a pony tail that is tied at shoulder height with about a 3 inch wrapped ribbon like in the images I posted in an earlier. Then have a cape option that is basically a cape with hair style design on it with everything non hair related being 100% transparent.

The two pieces would align to give the illusion of being a single connected item even though they are two seperate pieces to the puzzle.

The normal cape movement would give the illusion that the hair is loose and moving freely while the head piece is tied and not moving.

You'd still only have one cape, except in this case the cape would give the illusion that your character has really long flowing hair.

My question is would Jay be able to get both puzzle pieces to align properly?

Sounds like it could be done, but I also suspect it will look nasty. Capes move like fabric. Really long hair just doesn't. I think what you're going to get is hair that looks like it's painted on a long scarf.

Hmmm.... but maybe a really long poney tail?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, a really long pony tail would be even simpler (in theory) since depending on how it's tied could explain why the hair only starts moving at/below the shoulders.

If the hair was loose and goes down the the shoulders and them from the shoulders down starts moving in the wind, it would look really strange.

However, If the hair was tied in a type of "sleeve" made of ribbon (you see it a lot in anime), then that ~3 inches of tied hair wouldn't move. From the shoulders down the hair would be loose and free to move around.

Different options could be used for "poofyness" of the loose part as well as type and color of "sleeve".

Nah, the OP asked the mods to move it here.

He said he asked the mods to sticky it to the other thread (he probably meant he wanted them to 'merge it'). Why they would move it here instead is kinda weird.

Hmm Does the fact that this was moved to the developers corner mean it's being worked on or at least seriously considered?

Maybe a possible solution to the problem would be to make a long cape that looks like long hair. It would be another cape, but with a hair texture instead of the various cape textures/patterns you can choose from. Give it the standard cape animation. The tricky part would be designing the head piece in such a way that it looks like it's attached to the "cape" part. Would probably also have to make that piece in particular attach to the character at a higher point, so that it looks like the hair is flowing from the head and not the shoulders.

Tricky, but theoretically possible. It would look damn cool though. It's one of those Anime inspired things that I'd love to use on my character.
