  1. Well as people have pointed out, everyone on the show is dysfunctional in some way or have major character flaws. Some are simple like Sue, who doesn't like the competition for the spot light. In some ways she is like Rachel. I would imagine if the football team starts to win a lot, she would feel threatened by them as well.

Will may have married his high school sweetheart but it was a marriage where he gave and she took. In fact it was Will's attraction to Emma that drove her to the whole faux baby affair that led to the divorce. Then it was Will's fault for making out with Rachel's bio-mom and sharing a bed with our favorite 4'11" former jockey and pie waitress that drove Emma off. So too bad, so sad that he doesn't get her, for now.
  2. Another Halloween, another OOPS! our bad.
  3. The HRP-4C, the gynoid in that video, is interesting from the fact they tried to limit it's size and weight to that of the average Japanese female. What they sacrificed is speed of movement.

Funny thing however, real Japanese mass produced Idol singers move with the skill and amount when on stage. Now if they can fix the man hands.

    Castle 10/25/10

Nah, figured it was her boyfriend. Now the question I have is was that a test and did Alexis pass? I mean she was advised not to tell him that she had a secret admirer.

It's also good that they don't always get the bad guy. Sorry, they need a nemesis or two.
  5. For something like RHPS, which has been playing on and off for the last 35 years, that spans generations, that's now out on Blu-Ray starting today. I can understand the overwhelming desire to crush any attempt to recreate it. That's a lot of collective inertia you need to overcome.

However there's been good remakes as well as bad. The problem is the bad ones sting so horribly that nobody remembers remakes that were acceptable. There was a TV remake of the classic film Fail-Safe back in 2000 that I thought was done very well. But then you get something like the remake of The Fog which was terrible and I'm sure people can supply a dozen or two more examples of bad remakes. Enough to make a fan of the original anything (movie, TV, comic book, song) concern when they here a remake is coming down the pike.
  6. Two thumbs up for Soon I Will Be Invincible or are we only doing fiction of existing comic book lines?
  7. Quick comments.

    1) Due to the nature of TV, it's very tough to have the entire number of any song from a musical while maintaining the song's original pace. I wish they didn't have to abbreviate "Science Fiction, Double Feature". However I did shout LIPS! at the TV.

    2) Brit makes a great Columbia, Tina not so much. Just as Santana made a great Magenta, Quinn not so much.

    3) Marcian called it, Time Warp was the last number.

    4) Mexican Terrorist Ants

    5) "Give me some chocolate or I'll cut you."

    6) Trivia: Jayma May who plays Emma did "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-me" for her Glee audition.

Well Sony absorbed Aiwa in 2002 as a wholly owned division after they went bankrupt.
  9. Well he most likely is completely unaware of the movie or I would have expected a quip.
  10. Well that was different. Definitely get a Doctor Who vibe off of it.

Nice take on Watson, being a blogger. Mycroft with his "ability" to control the CCTV cams in London. Sherlock using multiple nicotine patches. Nice mix of humor with the seriousness.
  11. Well I ignore any sales and rebates when picking plus I leave a bit of a buffer, which last year got eaten up by the DDR2 price surge. This year DDR3 prices are dropping since I made that list as well as the recent price war between ATI and nVidia once the 460 came out.

Then you have the new shininess of some of my picks have worn off, such as the 1TB Caviar Black drive for a mere $88, I think it was around $110 when I first added it and the CM690 II Advance was around $130. They just aren't as sexy anymore.

    30 years for me.

My definition of a kid, anyone who is less than half my age.

I think most school children use mechanical pencils nowadays since schools are so paranoid today that they are afraid of the tiny razor blade in those children pencil sharpeners will be removed and made into a weapons for elementary school fight club.

Why is that better? Because Macross Plus predicted it in 1994.

    Also it looked less horrifying.

Here's a Youtube video of the concert!

    SHARON! SHARON! SHARON!

Actually one thing that I found very interesting from that concert is the biometric monitoring wristbands. Then idea of redirecting the performance to areas of the stadium that are feeling left out is an interesting idea.
  14. I didn't have a Walkman per se in college, I think mine was an Awia(?). I still own my Sony Discman. But Sony's insistence in using their own compression format and memory device format doomed them in the MP3 player market.
  15. I was going to say they showed her accidentally sweep it into her purse as she was packing her purse. Now it's quite possible that someone or even it somehow assisted in it's theft by either placing it near all the stuff Lois was gathering or influencing Lois in some way.
  16. Well when I think of Cloverfield I think more of the shaky cam aspect to it than the small cast of survivors of an event done with a modest budget.
  17. Also you can't link to your shopping cart for others to see since it's under your account. Also true if you make a saved wish list but with a link to that I (and others) can finagle it into a public wish list so we can look at it.

Some of the Bulldozer demonstrations have been on existing AM3 motherboards that you can buy today.

The catch is the same as the Socket AM3 to Socket AM2 compatibility. The Bulldozer chips won't be as fast on the existing Socket AM3 infrastructure, and will need the new socket in order to achieve maximum performance.
Damn it je_saist, just do your research first.

Desktop Bulldozer Processors Will Require New Platforms - AMD

    And before you poo-poo X-bit Labs or Planet3DNow (which is in German so I didn't bother to link it here);

20 Questions Part 4 from AMD's own blog. Search from AM3+ and you will find the following in the comment section.

    Quote:
Eek October 22, 2010 Bulldozer will work with AM3 MOBO?

    John Fruehe October 22, 2010
    Only works in AM3+

    Yuhong Bao October 22, 2010
So a new mobo will be required for desktop version of Bulldozer? Just to clarify.

    John Fruehe October 23, 2010
    yes
John Fruehe is the Director of Product Marketing for Server/Workstation products at AMD. Yes he's a marketroid but I think he would know, or at least check with someone from Engineering before answering.
  19. The Mobility HD 5850 is a bit less powerful than the desktop HD 5750. So nowhere near powerful enough for max UM settings.
  20. Well Intel's new "Sandy Bridge" CPUs are due the quarter, in theory. However one rumored drawback is they will be extremely locked down for overclockers and they all, including the "replacement" to the i7-8xx series, will have onboard graphics. They will only work in the new Socket 1155 with the P/H6x motherboards. Intel will sell "unlocked multiplier" versions for overclockers.

AMD's is reported to be ready I think 2Q 2011. Also a new socket, AM3+. Current AM3 CPUs will work in it but the new CPUs won't work in the older AM3 motherboards.

For an overly technical analysis of the two designs. Talking senior college material, well it was when I was in college.
    Intel's Sandy Bridge
    AMD's Bulldozer

Extremely less technical info about the two.
    Intel's Sandy Bridge
    AMD's Bulldozer
  21. For all of you without BBC America, the new series Sherlock is starting on PBS tomorrow night at 9-10:30p EDT, and the next two Sundays as well.
  22. Father Xmas

    This is side six

Wow, that's a really obscure way to start a thread. Been a long time since I listened to FST, thanks for the link.
  23. They could have used a different comparison with Cat. Big City vs small town girl, wild single woman Vs mom of young child, etc.

Like I said, at least Ollie is in character with his character.

I don't have a problem with Cat wanting to upstage Lois professionally but as the comic relief character (how is she going to be "saved" by GA next time?) by pursuing the wrong person as the Blur (really need the Flash to show up and take up the Blur mantle, and then change his name to the Flash).
