  1. I would love to get in on this. Will be sending demos tomorrow.

Many thanks for doing this. It's very much appreciated.

    More bad news

That really really sucks. Best of luck finding a new home.
  3. We have a website! Link here I somehow set it to approve all membership requests. I really do hope that the efforts to save City of Heroes come through. At the moment, I'm hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

When we do get around to choosing a new game, I think that there should be more discussion than a poll. Personally, I really like games with a high level of cosmetic character customization. I know that it has little effect on gameplay, but it gives me the feeling that my avatar is mine. When we played DDO, I had a monk, that looked like every other monk that I encountered, with the exception of ones that had bought armor kits and looked like hoochies. I am just not a big fan of games that have gear that affects your appearance.

To be honest, I expect the game to be shut down long before Nov. 30 as well. The statement NCSoft gave to IGN said "begin...sun setting process immediately". If we assume they are unconcerned with the reaction of either the CoH or the larger gaming community, as the timing and tenor of their original decision and announcement suggests, then I would guess they will pull the plug as soon as they can. Since turning off servers is trivial, that may be just the time it takes for them to terminate Paragon's financial and legal obligations (employee benefits, maybe refunds, whatever).
I agree on getting 3rd party communication set up. If the forums drop, we'll be SOL on getting in touch with one another.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the servers did come down before the announced date. The closing of Paragon Studios just feels so wrong that not following through on the claim that the servers will stay up would not be a shock.

It has been a great run and I'm sad that it had to end like this. I do understand that eventually all things do come to an end. But this just feels so wrong. If Paragon Studios had known about this and had the opportunity to come up with their own end of days scenario, I could accept that a whole lot easier.
  5. Eternal Farewell, a ninja/nature affinity mastermind, has been rolled up and is ready to participate in superteam activities. It feels odd to roll up a new mastermind after hearing CoH is ending, but I want to have one last run through a game that I enjoy with people I care deeply about.

Same here. My tastes are eclectic and when I feel like being tactful about my preferences, I'm discerning. When I'm not being tactful, I'm picky as hell. This just sucks. It feels wrong. From everything that we as players experienced, new content, powersets and upgrades that represented a significant investment in this IP, there was no reason to believe that the CoX franchise was struggling. I'm not familiar with the kind of effort that it takes to implement something like power pool customization, but I believe it had to represent a significant amount of coding time. In fact, Issue 24 was looking to be one of the most significant issues in terms of QoL improvements and content.

It just feels wrong to lay off a development team that was known for their loyalty to the IP on the eve of a holiday that celebrates workers. It feels wrong to dismantle a company that showed the potential for profit in these trying economic times. I wish that I could find better words to describe how I feel because as someone who has put years of studies into the humanities, I feel that I should be able to express this more eloquently; but this just sucks.

City of Heroes was far more than a game to me and I believe that many others feel the same way that I do. It was a meeting space for like minded people to meet and make friendships. City of Heroes was a collection of shared experiences that has left me with incredible memories and wonderful friendships.

I really like the idea of a bucket list team. I know that I'll never be able to get every powerset to 50, but I can finish out the ones that I was most excited about.

Looking forward to Friday, hope everything is going as well as possible for everybody.
  7. I'm still reeling from the bad news. I know that this group will continue, but I don't want to start thinking about a new game. I want this one!

I suppose that we should establish another way to keep in touch outside of these forums. But for now, I am going to go drink Two Buck Chuck and feel sorry for myself. I feel even worse for the dev team. This has got to be harder on them.
  8. If anybody was wanting the Dark Matter aura, there's boatloads of them in this thread.

Hope everybody is having a good week!

If Baub's the one who knocked the ice cream off the cone...

The five second rule has so many variables when it comes to ice cream though. What flavor is it, if it was high quality how hot is it that day, what did it fall in, how much fell, how much you really wanted to finish it and that's just a few variables.

This should be a lot of fun. It's going to be hard work too; but I'm looking forward to building a sand sculpture and supporting a great charity that does a great job in supporting my community.
  10. Hope everybody is having a good week. Guessing that there might be a few Nature Affinity defenders on Friday. Sadly, it looks like Baub and I will more likely than not miss Friday because we have the big sand sculpting contest that day. Judging starts at 4:30 pacific, so...might not be able to make it home on time. Also expecting to be overheated and tired as well.

Sunday, I love to get a notice or just get some blasting in. This is my favorite blaster so far. Love the nuke.
  11. How about Dead-eye? It might be a bit of a pain to get because it's in a PvP zone, but I like it on my TA/A corr.

Personally I need all the Phalanx tfs (except Posi) and of course the level 50 content with Maria's AVs and DA are fun for the whole gang.
This is very true. Baub and I happened to get in on the epic double ship raid that Friday. Which gave us way, way more xp than expected. IIRC, King got in on that with his new blaster as well. When Baub hit 41, this left him unable to level because he had not finished his patron arc yet. (BTW, thanks again to Hedge and King for helping take out Mako. That was a right pain.) We rushed the patron arc at -1, but it still gave us a fair chunk of xps.

Like Hedge said, we're not going to be spending any team sessions running itrials. There's still task forces to be ran, hero and vig tips, and the various story arcs with AV goodness.

The next WST is Yin/Mantis. I know that Yin can be done fairly quickly, but Silver Mantis has a few maps that can be slaughtered for maximum xp gain.

  14. Great turnout. The first 50's were dinged tonight!

We beat down Lord Recluse 3 times, once being at +5 . There was time for a Mortimer Kal, so how could we not steal from Positron? We're villains, after all.

    Have a good weekend all!
  15. I think as a water blast superteam, we should make an appearance at the Mako invasion. We will need to take into account that the mobs spawn at 54.
  16. Great turnout tonight! Many levels were acquired and a good time was had by all.

There should be a few Lord Recluse beatdowns on Friday. I, for one, will be looking forward to blasting Mr Big Bag o'xps.

Hope everybody is having a good week!
  17. Great turn out tonight! One team knocked out Posi 1&2. Gratz to those Big Dam Heroes . My team knocked out a Sutter. After that, we had a yen for Yin.

Baub and I finished going red side to get his patron powers. If there's enough folks that can come red side, we can run Ambassador Kuhr'Rekt or another red side contact. If not, we can run co-op stuff.

We finished the night with an epic ship raid. There was 2 RWZ instances and both of them ran back to back ship raids.
  18. Argh! I was swearing a bit and not at all happy with Comcast for knocking out our net about an hour before superteam. First world problems!

It sounds like everything went well tonight. Have a good week all!
  19. Another great turnout tonight. There was a First Ward team, a Synapse team and when Baub and I finally were able to make it, we started a second Synapse team. We were a bit short on damage to take Babbage down, but some fine folks from JU showed up to lend a hand. We finished at 1:57 and 5 deaths. Not quite as quick as the other group, but still a respectable time.

The Rikti decided to show up and make a nuisance of themselves. So I decided to get a league together of all my hero friends and beat them back. Baub, Darkscar and I got the invasion accolade in 2 invasions. Probably could have got it in 1, but the Rikti were being knocked back before they were 'arrested'.

Any interest in a Moonfire on Sunday?
  20. Happy birthday Warboss! Looking forward to you coming and tanking for the water blast team again
  21. There's another thread in the Justice forum for folks planning on taking down a drop ship when the Rikti invades. This sounds relevant to our interests, in my humble opinion.

Baub and I are going to be late tommorrow. We have a meeting that's scheduled to end when we start. If there is a Synapse that night, we'll probably just start a pug Synapse another day.

Hope everybody's week is going well.
  22. This is something my SG might be interested in. I'll ask them about it when we meet on Friday.
  23. Great turnout tonight! There was 3 teams running at one time. We decided that no trip to First Ward would be complete without taking on the Seed of Hami.

Looking forward to next time on Sunday!
  24. We are going blue side as per our discussion. The base needs the new porters and a bit of tweaking. I'll more likely than not be online early Sunday doing some base editing. Hoping everybody is having a good weekend!
  25. Our first night was a blast! We had three teams running for most of the night. Many levels were dinged and much fun was had by all.

Welcome to all the new people and welcome back to all the old people.

People should be able to start making the trip to Primal Earth if they want or they could just jump into First Ward missions. I started EF on Primal Earth so I could get some base editing in before superteam and to make it easier to get people in the SG.
