Cool, I can try that when I get off of work.

Nope; I'm pretty sure all the login items I have are the same ones I've had since I got the computer. I'll try disabling them, though, and see where I get.

I'd feel really stupid if I hadn't already tried it I've also checked top and/or the Activity Monitor in between attempts to make sure wineserver wasn't running, since I've seen that mentioned elsewhere in the forums.

15" MBP, running the latest patch of Snow Leopard, with a GeForce 9400M. City of Heroes was running successfully until recently... although I can't pinpoint exactly since there was a month or two that I didn't have the opportunity to play.

Yes, a few different times now.

Here's everything printed to Console while I try to start up CoH, then:

The messages from TuneUp appear to be debug/info level logging. The messages from Adium seem to be some bug in its JSON parsing library (or perhaps just a debug/info log that shouldn't have made its way into the production code...). The City of Heroes message is the one I've mentioned above.

Correction - apparently sometimes it doesn't log to console, and sometimes it does. I don't think this would be a show-stopping issue, but I did get one console message when I tried to start it up later:

  7. A very similar issue is happening to me, and the procedure described above doesn't seem to help.

The difference is that while sometimes the launcher doesn't show up, sometimes it starts fine, and will patch to the latest version just fine if it detects that I need an update. If I try to verify all files, however, or if I try to start the game itself, a new City of Heroes entry appears in the dock, bounces for a few seconds, and then just stops responding. I've tried reinstalling, and I've followed the procedure you documented above a few different times (just to be sure) and the game still won't start. Any ideas, or do I need to start a conversation with support?
