  1. I'll test my memory when I get a chance... there SHOULDn'T be a problem because I just recently upgraded to 4GB of RAM 1066MHz not too long ago...
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Did you go through all the steps of my post above?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, and still no joy.
  3. Safe Mode worked fine, but it's very ugly. I adjusted my graphic settings for "Performance." Hopefully, everything works!
  4. I haven't tried "Safe Mode" for the game. I'll try it later this morning and let you know my results...
  5. Current Status:
The game is unplayable on my computer for more than 5 min without crashing.
  6. Still no reply, I see...

Well, I'm gonna file a support ticket and see what happens.
  7. I'm comparing my previous post's CoH Helper to my most recent driver updates...

Can someone please look this over and give me input on what else may be causing this issue?

    Thank you!
  8. The problem is still happening. Any more fix ideas?

    -Mike
  9. The problem re-occurred today while running single core. My team was in a mission killing stuff when it looped and crashed once again.

I checked for any new drivers with no luck.

    What should I do now?
  10. It didn't work... but the way I was doing it still does...
  11. [ QUOTE ]
If setting the Affinity to one CPU Core works, then you might try appending -renderthread 0 to the CoH Shortcut. 0 *should* Switch the game to using only one core by default.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'll try that...

    Thank you!
  12. Glad to hear it!

I haven't had a problem yet so far either, just minor lag as you said.
    -------------------------------------------------------

    EDIT: Testing Sig
  13. Last night's session went well for me!

    No crashes whatsoever!

    -Mike
  14. I tried my idea of setting the affinity and it worked. I noticed you have a AMD Dual Core as well. I was able to play a full 4 hour session without any crashing. Also, I changed my monitor frequency to 60Hz instead of 75.

How it works... After you load into the game via CoHUpdater.exe wait until you get to the login screen. Press Cntrl+Alt+Delete and open up Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab. Sort the tabs by name and find the processes that have you're personal computer username associated with them. Right-click on the process for City of Heroes (i.e. CityofHeroes.exe) and choose "Set Affinity." Take the checkmark away from "CPU 1" and click OK.

So far, this has worked for me, but I have to do it everytime I play the game.

Another post about this issue mentioned that many people have been posting with semi-outdated RealTek Audio drivers. I noticed you have the same driver. Here's a link to that post: https://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat...;gonew=1#UNREAD

    I hope this helps!

    -Mike

    Update:
I'm starting another session right now if anybody would like to join me. I play on Freedom and sometimes on Guardian. Hit me up: @Guardian Ekim
  15. Could it possibly be a dual core problem? Her computer is AMD 64 single core and mine's a dual core both with similar graphics cards; her computer runs the game just fine. When I first got a dual core AMD when running Battlefield 2, I used to have to go into task manager and turn one of the affinities off when running the game to make it not crash. I'll try the same for CoH/CoV and see what happens...

Also, Major, what are you computer specs?

    -Mike
  16. ^Bump

This problem is still unresolved. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  19. I didn't think I would need another sound drive because USB headsets are generally plug n play on Windows XP. However, since reading your response, I have updated my mobo sound drivers. After doing so, I tried to play again and quickly crashed with a error on nvoglnt.dll. I did a Google search on the error and came up with various graphic problems. Therefore, I checked NVidia's website again only to reallize that they posted yet another new driver yesterday. I installed this driver, rebooted my machine, tried to play the game, and repeatedly crashed even more frequent than before.

I'm not sure what HiJackThis is or how to get it, but I'll look around and check into it. Meanwhile, I'll get that CoH_Helper and see if you all can't help me solve this issue for my gameplay.

    Thank you!

    -Mike

Also, during one of my crashes, CoH creaded a .zip file. What should I do with it?

Try updating your sound device drivers as well.

Ummm.... already did that. It was in the original post.

    Thanks anyway!

    Problem still unresolved.
  21. Greetings all!

I recently came back to the world of CoH/CoV after a long break. Since re-installing the game, I've been playing on the Villain side and working on making my first lvl 50 Villain since I already have at least 1 lvl 50 Hero. At least a few times a day, my game crashes with looping sound back to desktop. The main issue, is dealing with or fixing this crash.

So far, the times the game has crashed on me have occurred when chatting in a zone, travelling through a zone, loading into a mission map, and/or loading into a new zone (i.e. Mercy Island to Port Oakes). When the game crashes, I get a box popup that always asks me what I was doing when the error occurred; sometimes I can type in it, and sometimes I cannot. Overall, I can play the game and missions through pretty thoroughly, but the random crashes are a minor annoyance.

What have I tried to fix this? After the first few times I crashed, I went to www.nvidia.com and updated to the latest driver for my XFX 9600GT; the problem still existed after rebooting my computer. Then I did a google search on the problem and came up with adding "-project coh" to my Target command line; this didn't fix my problem either. Finally, I've tried installing/updating the drivers to my new Creative USB Headset and still no joy. Overall, the problem is still unresolved.

Below are my system specs. Please advise me on any possible fixes or work-arounds for this problem.

    Thank you!

    -Mike

    SuperGroup Colours: N/A

Normal time of Gameplay: Do we ever get off the game!?

    Other information:
The Rogue Heroes are a group of Paragon's superheroes that don't quite fit in with the norm of your regular Supergroup. Many Heroes don't like having to wear a certain costume or color. They like being individual. However, they like being around other Heroes that can be trusted as true friends. No matter what background, ethnicity, color, size, shape or form, all Heroes are welcome here as long as they act mature and can play in a team setting. Also, we have an Associate program for heroes that are already involved with other SGs but would like to attend our events and such. You must sign up at the website to become an Associate. Click Here to read more about us.

Recruiting: We recruit from time to time. However, there is a screening process to get accepted as a Member. You must remain on "Recruit" status for up to 7 days or possibly more depending on your activity ingame.

  23. With Issue 5's new changes, you only get one spawn of Imps. Respawning them kills the first spawn and makes another. Therefore, now it's better to 6 slot the imps with Dmg SOs or be like Mirex, my level 50 Fire/Force Fields Controller and have 6 HO Dmg/Acc Enhancements.

    Hope this helps!
