  1. Hey all,

    I've been working on a build for my Kinetic Melee/Shield Defense character for a while now, and i've come up with a build. However, I've got a few questions regarding it:

    1) I've spend a lot of time getting my recharge up to get the optimal attack chain and get PS up as much as possible, however my build lacks AoE defense. Is it that common and important to have it softcapped as well?

    2) I'm doubting wether I've got enough recovery in my build... Would it be wiser to drop fire mastery and switch to body mastery instead, and give up for the extra AoE damage?

    3) What incarnate slot would be recommended for this build? (personally was doubting between cardiac and musculature)

    4) I don't have a travel power, usually if i do that, I will slot them for run speed as well to gain a reasonable speed with sprint + ninja run... However in this build I didnt have the space for it, should I take one either way or just ignore it?

    Also feel free to critique my build on things that might be wise to change

  2. Hey, I just quickly read over you build and there are several things that I noticed:

    First of all, I see that you've only put one slot in Granite armor, which is really a shame since this is the main reason why Stone Armor tankers are considered to be such resilient to damage. I would personally suggest that you 6-slot Granite Armor with 3 resist damage IO's and 3 Defense IO's
    (you could maybe even throw a steadfast protection +3% defense in tough and you'd then already be over or very close to the soft-cap for all except psi-damage)

    I found it also to be quite usefull to slot Teleport a bit more, certainly if you're teaming with a large group in a large map; at such times you'll teleport a lot, and a decrease in endurance cost/increase in range is definitely handy at those times

    Furthermore I think the other aspects of a stone tank are largely personal opinions; some people want to get a high runspeed, others would prefer to have capped out resistances + high defenses, and others try to get a lot of damage out of their stone tank and try to diminish their damage bonuses... It's all up to you I guess

    Those are some really good suggestions! I definitely think that hasten would be a good addition to my build...

    Minerals could be in the build, although I don't have that much problems with psi-attacks at the moment, however it could always be placed in the build as an "oh s***" power against an AV...

    I don't have that much damage output, but to be honest, I think it's quite hard to get a stone tank to do a considerably large damage output, while not compensating for other aspects, such as run speed and defense... I've therefore centered my main attacks around AoE and cone to at least agro as much mobs around me as possible and let the other members of the team do the damage

    And just a question; what kind of strategy would you use for tp foe in a tank, as ive had it on a few toons, but found it only to be usefull on the squishier toons... So how would you use it on a tank?

  4. Hey everyone,

    I've had a stone tank for a pretty long time now and had lots of fun with him, however knowing that Issue 19 will allow me to drop the powers in the fitness power pool set (since they're becoming inherent anyway), I'm wondering which 3 new powers I should take for my tank... However I only want to take powers which would actually complement with the tank-build I've so far. So how would you suggest to change my build?

    Also feel free to critique the build that I've so far, as it took me quite a while to get all the recipes and enhancements together (though I had some amazingly good trades with people and managed to get quite a lot of lucky purple drops).
