Probably this. I've seen a good few other examples of concepts developed completely independent from one another, yet look like the people who created them were working hand-in-hand the whole time.
  2. Usually. But not this time. The reason for this of course wouldn't be revealed for some time - or at least not until the ferry arrived on shore and people began to wonder why a certain truck didn't move after docking...

    Draggynn

Hehe, nice. It's also pretty cool to see the work evolving as it goes with those different shots lined up like that.
  4. I've been a supporter of instance pvp ever since the idea came up. I don't think a whole zone-sized instance is needed, but I would appreciate just about any sort of '2 teams enter, 1 team leaves' missions (or a map with several missions) where players would have to work against one another to accomplish the goal.

    Sssssooooo.

Aw shux, so that means 0600 - 1000 hours here. Guess you're up a bit late tonight, huh? Friday an' all?

    Sssssooooo.

What's wrong with eating bees? Just meat.

Anyway, glad to have you back, just to say it again. So in Japan, about when's your eneral time to play? I know it's probably nowhere near the NA primetimes (unless you're nuts like Rebel), but it'd still be nice to know when we might see you in-game, heh. Also, do you still use the same messenger address, or've you switched to a new one?
  7. ((Yeah, there are very few people around here you just can't tell something. But I can understand Pious' approach seeing as how we do have a few and it only takes one of them in a thread to make things frustrating because of the 'I can see everything' character.))

With no one stopping it, the truck simply went on its merry way, pulling into the ferry just as planned. This really was too easy. Acid had expected somewhat more of a challenge.

"Go for Papa Palpatine." he answered when a call came into his commlink, the person at the other end momentarily confused and prompting the Khelari to add, "Yeah, it's me. Go ahead."

"Master Zero, Master Anonymous X wishes a progress update." the henchman retorted, "Is the operation on schedule?"

"Well of course it is." the reptilian's tone momentarily took on a mockingly shocked manner, "Why, I'm downright offended you'd think otherwise. Seriously though, yeah. Also I've told you: you can just call me Acid."

"Yes, Master Acid." the henchman's response caused an eye roll. What was the world coming to...?
  8. ((I dunno. I was just kind of waiting for what Pious would do next...))

    Sssssooooo.

    !

    Duuuuuuuuuuuude!

    Whowhatwhenwherehow?
  11. Now that you mention it, I could use one of those planks over here. Oh, and who drew your sig banner? It's cool.
  12. *tosses Shade back out*

    Go away! It ain't ready!

*Returns to cooking Pit of Death 5-Alarm Lip Remover Chili*
  13. Would you stop kicking people into the Pit of Death?
  14. "Wilco." Acid responded via the microscopic commlink in his left ear, then closed the channel. Well, that was unfortunate. He'd hoped the wrecking crew trio would've been able to take care of those two. Hmf. well, they said good help was hard to find for a reason, after all.

Thus the reptilian began to plot. Depending on which actions the hero (or heroes; it was quite possible that the second hero pursued the truck as well and just hadn't been noticed) now took, he'd need a contingency for each case. Good thing he'd brought along some help...
  15. Acid was indeed on his way with the goods. Though a certain collection of spines had penetrated and locked up both tires of the left rear wheel, it wasn't enough to stop this sort of driver. The Khelari popped the truck into six-wheel, then shifted into reverse, using the increased torque of the drive train along with the sheer weight of the vehicle to crush the spines underwheel. While this of course did little to the partitions within the tires, the run-flats didn't mind too much.

Backing the truck out into the main streets, he gave the command for the license plate number to change with a tap to the 'watch' on his left wrist. Then he returned to driving rather normally, seeing how the only way off Talos Island proper was the ferry, and traffic violations on the way there would somewhat inhibit smooth passage via that.

Still, a big truck like this wasn't exactly inconspicuous even on Paragon's roads, for though not a tractor trailer, the dirt-brown military vehicle somewhat stood out. It had been a necessity, however, for only with such a vehicle and properly faked papers did Rikti technology stand a chance of makings its way off the island without being confiscated at the ferry...
  16. Silver keys dangled casually between the short, beige claws that played with them, jingling with each stroke of the sharp keratin nails atip the long, skinny fingers wrapped in leathery, deep-green hide. Their owner gave a sigh, the tip of his tongue tracing along a row of many razor-sharp, predatory teeth. How disappointing.

Facilitating his view of the fight was the truck's left rear-view mirror, which if seen from the right angle of course reflected his face - an inhuman visage, deep-green and somewhat reminiscent of a raptor, yet at the same time just as far from the reptilian as from the human. Acid Zero he called himself, an invented name for an invented being. Still, he identified with this persona, felt that he was as much a Khelari as any other - which weighed heavily on his feelings of the present situation. Was it really so much to ask for to not draw the attention of heroes?

He reached into an interior pocket of his black leather 'biker' jacket with his other hand, fishing out a silvery marble with a pair of fingers, then tugged on the fabric of the white T-shirt he wore underneath, straightening out a fold in the garment. He didn't like folds, and thus inspected his black cargo pants for the same as he confirmed the presence of the folded kodachi in one of his work boots with the tip of his long tail, the black footwear fit snugly about large, but plantigrade feet. Almost time...almost time...

[Gravitatron] slapped the side hard to get the drivers attention. "All loaded we stay behind and provide a distraction."
    Now.

He gripped the keys and gave the ignition a final turn, the truck's heavy-duty engine turning over and coming alive with the characteristic roar of the diesel motor...
  17. Okay, I wasn't gonna say anything at first, but yall realize that's the alternate universe example I mentioned that Omy and you didn't like, right?
  18. Hehe, gonna be interesting to see what people come up with. For now...henchmen! Quit surfing the web and get back to work! That needlessly large weather machine isn't going to build itself!
  19. Oh no, I get that Omy's got an aversion to it. What I don't get is why it's a big deal. Like I said earlier, the same thing can happen if someone not on Union with a character that's got an established backstory in the events of Paragon City one day decides to hop on the boards. Seriously, would anyone here not play with such a person, or want some alternate universe explanation for their character being there? I'd like to think not. I'd like to think yalls'd say howdy and keep a-goin' with business as usual. The only difference here is that there's not one person, but a couple dozen. Why does this make someone uncomfortable?

    ...what?

I hope you're fixin' to clarify this. I haven't got a clue what you're trying to say there.
  21. Then don't. No one 'has to' do anything. It was just an example.
  22. Why not? I've used most of those myself, y'know. And Rebel's really good with the time travel one.

But if we just go with the "It doesn't matter, just stick where you want" important universe setting details like big major threats (Like Dr Mechano, who almost he entire community have been involved.been on the reciving end of one of his plots) or big important organisations, all of which can be important to characters are just suddenly not there/you interact with people for who suddenly these thigns no longer exist for.

It's like people in a certian place whining that there's no X when people who are active in/take part in teh community know there's been a longstanding X.
Y'know, it's pretty much the same when a new player gets to the boards with a character who's written to have been in Paragon for a good long while. That person (and the character) ain't gonna know about that stuff either since it happened outside of the dev-written game canon - and they sure as shootin' aren't from an alternate universe.

This is kind of a vague example, but I'd say in that case CB should just say so. Heck, an occurrence like that can even be spun into a plot of its own. Maybe at some future point CB's character travels back into the past, so the character who met CB's character met his/her/its future self instead of the present-day version. Or maybe it really was CB's character from an alternate universe. Or maybe there's amnesia involved. Or magic, or aliens, or magic aliens, or alien magic. Don't really matter much with the huge amount of explanations that can be strung up in less than two seconds.

Most or all of our roleplayers play on Union so when we began forum rp, it just sort of happened, and its something I for one would like to keep doing, and yet somehow, still join you guys in your stories.
Then just do it, bud. Nothin' stopping ya. Do your own threads how you like, jump into others however ya feel. It's really not such a big deal.
  24. Wow. Guys, no offense, but I think yalls're making this a lot more complicated then it needs to be. Seriously.

If you wanna take something as canon for your character, do so. If not, don't. It really is that simple. Heck, my main, the skinny green dude in my avatar, exists on no less than three servers - and he's the same guy on each, not three different versions of the same person existing in three different universes. Even though the AT differs from server to server, they hold the same personality, the same life experiences, and the same general theme, so I don't even bother separating people he meets on those different servers according to 'met person A in universe Q and person B in universe P'. I just say 'met A and B' and leave it at that. Nice and simple.

The same applies to the forums. The 'otherverse', I guess. He takes part in the threads that fit him and if the thread concludes (meaning it doesn't die or blow up; or even if it does and I just feel like it) I'll take what happened in it as canon for my character. Remember, KISS. I mean, if yalls want to make this complex and divide it up like yalls suggest, feel free to. But I'm stickin' to my guns. They're nice and simple, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
