yet another batch of great entries! Here's my votes:
they all showed lovely rendering, and all easily spoke to me of "Off Duty" - ranking them was tough, as I'd rather have given them each "1st Place", but
1st) Lousy Day
2nd) SyrusB / Liz
3rd) Christopher Robin -
oh, yes: While I'm happy as punch to be given the extension (really, I appreciate it, Bubba!!!) I'd also be quite happy to get a big point-penalty, or even non-votable status. I wish I had realized before I posted the image that I had missed the deadline! didn't mean to disrespect those who actually got theirs in on time!
-
RATS! I HONESTLY thought the deadline was today! Sorry! I blew it!
Ah well, it was still fun! Good luck to the rest of yoU!!!!! -
Okay (late again, I know*) here's my April entry:
* sorry its still in "Work in progress" stage. Still unpacking from the Big Move, and only got internet installed a couple of days ago. Got further along than I thought I would for so little time I had, though!
I'm just happy to be in the contest, really. Its fun and challenging. And I really like the entries of all the rest of you very talented people! -
okay, I finally got the finished March entry posted in the March non-vote thread. Whew!
Doh! Now I gotta try to think of something for this month, and there's already some great entries!!!!
Gah!
(nice work on those pieces!)

Okay, at long last, I think I'm calling this image "done"!
Sorry it took so long!

and of course, now I'm way behind even thinking about this month's entry! Gah! -
I just want to say a great big "Thank You!!" to Jophiel, DarthDelicious, Amerikatt, and panthera for voting for my piece! (its okay if I say that now, with the voting deadline past?)
I'm touched that you see worth in it, even tho its not finished yet!
and thanks to ChristopherRobin for the encouraging PM, too!
and yes, I do plan on finishing it and posting it - probably even a 2nd WIP later today. (I've been packing for a big move and its consuming most of my time) -
I am humbled (again) by such great entries! Here's my votes
1st) "Two's Company. What's This?" by Airhead - I just love the style and the layout and everything!
2nd) "Who?" by Henri
3rd) "Xllusya needs your help!" by Christopher Robin
And I have to say, You all are TOUGH Puzzle-masters! I honestly don't have a clue as to what any of your secret messages are! -
Here's my last minute entry (unfinished again - real life - bleh) hopefully in time - but okay if not:
-
-
1st) Christopher Robin
2nd) Lousy Day
3rd) Henri -
That one is beautiful, ChristopherRobin!
unfortunately, real life intruded (I'll spare you the sob story) and my unfinished WIP will have to serve as my entry.
(I would ask that my piece be excluded from any bonus "early bird" points as I don't think it warrants it, but I'm afraid that would spark a big debate)
sides, I'm not really worried about winning. I'm just in it to try and do some art. -
Nice! You've done so much with such simple elements! I'm liking it!

here's the wip of my entry for this month (its going to need a bunch of work so it might not qualify for the 'early in' points, but thats okay). Thats my name character, an Ice blaster. I'm trying to be less cartoony (hope I don't screw it up).

Quote:well, I think collaborating would certainly prove challenging! It would blur some of the boundaries between competitors, for sure! Division of labor could be tricky, too. Of course, the most fun part would be who should get the praise for winning, or the blame for losing (ha ha! I meant that jokingly! Also, I just had something pop into my head for a possible future month's theme and I wanted to get feedback from the artists: "Collaboration". As a viewer, this seems like it would be an interesting to see what artists can create when they work together. As an artist, it would be an interesting challenge to work with someone else. But I could totally see how some artists would prefer not to work with someone else, especially if they feel their partner is a weak artist. And partners would be chosen based on voting order. Just wanted to throw this idea out there to see how it's received, if anyone at all is against it, it won't be a theme. I already have March's theme in mind and it will be announced when this month goes to voting.
)
I say go for it. -
Great tips so far! Thanks muchly for posting them!
(hum! no, I aint got any to share, yet, myself)
-
Quote:Well, thank you, sir! That depends entirely how Bubba intends to define leader.
(I can't be the only one to see it, can I?)
My votes.
#1. Henri (best implementation of fire)
#2. Techbot Alpha (also definitely says fire and good detailing on the robotics)
#3. Defiance Jones (impossibility of actually burning something made of water aside who hasn't at some point wanted to chop a snowman in half)
Note, however, that you can super heat water until it turns into steam - which is what I was trying to achieve, but drew so poorly that you can't really tell!
And congratulations on the win, mister orange! -
I'll cast my vote.
1st place: Techbot Alpha
nice, tight rendering
2nd place: Henri
liked the way you did the fire-blurred structure + image tells a story
3rd place: Christopher Robin
nice flames -
