You could also do CAM POS 0 -10000 0. -10000 is just an arbitrarily high number and there's no clouds that far down, so it's a solid blue.
EDIT: It's probably obvious, but the X and Y positions don't have to be zero. -
Here's my entry to the contest. At some point I forgot entirely about the rules so it's for CoX in general, but it's mostly heroes footage and I mostly play heroes so let's go with heroes.
Also, w00t seems to hate my experimenting with different codecs and file formats, so it seemed to have no idea what to do with my x264/aac-encoded video, and thus it doesn't show up on that site. I'm working on a YouTube version I can link but for now, here's a direct download of it.
EDIT: Got a YouTube up, so modified first link. Quality isn't that great, but it's better than nothing. -
My guess would be you have the XviD codec installed for playback, but not for encoding purposes. Try downloading and installing it from this site here and see if it shows up then.
Alternatively you could also try encoding with x264, which is considered slightly better than XviD but I don't know if it's as widespread as XviD, so be wary of people complaining they can't play it.
EDIT: If this is your first time encoding with VirtualDub I'm going to guess that you may eventually run into the problem that your stock audio compression options are less than desirable. To get greater choice in choosing bitrate and stuff I also recommend installing the LAME MP3 ACM codec. -
Short Description: Video!
Longer Description
I wanted to make a video of the wedding itself for posterity. This is a video of just the ceremony; I took the painstaking process of turning all the spectators into "NPC Puddle"s and fixed the camera to a single point (two points actually; with the surprise appearance at the end I had to turn it since his text box fell offscreen otherwise). I cut out a few of the extended silences but there's still several protracted ones, so I wouldn't be surprised if you got bored and skipped to the end or just read the comic or the transcript or whatever.
I would've have it done sooner except for two problems I encountered. The first was I fell asleep during a demo dump, and my computer went into monitor-off mode or something, and the demo just kept dumping the same image (I think at least, it completely filled up my hard drive and I didn't feel like looking through the 75,000+ images). The second was in encoding, I put 2997 as the framerate instead of 29.97.
I have an extended version that's 15 minutes long, but unless you want to see Manticore disconnect and leave Sister Psyche standing at the lack of an altar, coupled with a lot more cricket chirping moments and Back Alley Brawler and Citadel dancing on stage, I'll just leave it at this somewhat shorter version. -

I can try, but no guarantees.
That being said, the nomap idea is a nice improvement over what I was doing, since I can choose between black and nonblack backgrounds. I started using it to store animation sets for future reference. Why?
...
Well, I suppose I can get my brother to shut up about me actually showing it in public (read: people I don't know personally).
Ever since I discovered demos, I've developed an interest in making CoH music videos because of the flexibility the demos offer. Currently working on my second, although, while I just cleared one major obstacle in my script plan thing, I have one more before I can at least have reasonable certainty that I can complete it. I don't want to go into any more detail in this post since this is taking the thread off-topic. -
Normally I'm just fine with lurking around, but since this was something I needed to do recently (having a black background), I thought it might be worth putting my two cents in on this one. This is a bit more complicated than just taking a screenshot though, since you need to understand demo files (which isn't hard).
How I do it is to go into any indoor mission. Set up your camera and character pose how you want it, and be sure not to move either. Then create a demo file; it doesn't need to be long. Then open up the demo file in notepad.
In it, find the camera position, which should look like CAM POS XXX YYY ZZZ. Change the YYY to YYY-500 or so, which essentially puts the camera way below the map. Do the same with your character position. Now your scene is in the dark abyss outside the map. When I do it, sometimes I move the camera up and down a little bit to better center what I'm looking at.
Now all you need to do is get a screencap from the demo file, either by playing it, hitting print screen, then pasting it in whatever program you use, or dumping to file and choosing the image you want from it (which is how I do it). I did a quick example to show what the result might look like.
One caveat to this method is that since there's no light source, the characters will appear dark. However, that's something that can be fixed. I don't profess myself to be any good at stuff like this, but it shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure people more adept at Photoshop could do something better, but it's passable to me at least
Does Ms. Liberty look a little shiny to you?
