In the mean time I've learned a lot about colouring drawings!
Have learned new styles and ways.
And today I thought I'd give my own char Darth Delicious a shot at colouring.
The awesome Christopher_Robin drew her for me in an art-trade, and now I've managed to make this a collaboration by colouring it!
Personally, I'm quite pleased with the result. Didn't think I would do this well at a first try.
Though it took me most of the day.

1st: Lousy Day (I think that's exactly what it would look like *giggles*. Would be awesome to have winter in CoH, wouldn't it. Great work, nice style.)
2nd: Christopher Robin (Love the facial expression there. It's fascinating!)
3rd: Airhead (Very funny concept!)
@RogueDemonhunter: Thanks! Cats are irresistible, I agree! -

Well, the tools are different, or at least have different names, but how it's done can be done in PSP aswell. Just takes a bit more figuring out, that's all
.

Quote:Ooh yay!! *clicks the linky*This specific was just for educational purposes but I might finish it later, I didn't know if you were done with the pencils. I couldn't remember if you said you were or not.
Up next at the very least-masking!
I wanna know everything! *giggles* (as long as I can use it for Paint Shop Pro aswell ofcourse *looks innocent*) -
Though I use a different program, I learned quite a bit aswell
Thanks Cami!

Aaaand here's my entery!
(though I had something completely diferent in mind, I will not be able to finish that concept in time, but... I came up with something else Ice-related instead)
Behold!! Icecream licking Amerikatt!
Hope you like it!
Is there not a folder for the Fart Battle of 2011 in the CoH group of Dev Art btw?

I just stumbled across this thread through a friend who mentioned it when we were talking about the "old days" of CoH. (so that's why the REALLY late respond
)
The old days actually sound good!
I only started in March 2008. I think CoV was just introduced.
But even I find the old days better. To actually put some effort in earning stuff is so way more rewarding.
I was PROUD to have earned the PB and WS when I finally got one of my chars to lvl 50!
I was proud for being able to give my chars a cape once they'd reached lvl 20 (for the cape mission)
And I will be proud when he has completed the Vanguard Suit earning the Merits in Rikti fights BEFORE they will give me the suit for paying for the game through Feb till April.
*sighs sadly*
CoH becomes more and more about "earning XP as fast as you can" instead of enjoying the story behind it, just like WoW. Many (new) players don't seem to want to actually play anymore...but just earn XP so they can lvl to the highest lvl as fast as they can so they can kick some fellow **** in the PVP zones or the Arena or where ever they are aloud to do that.
(I don't know, I don't PVP).
I try to teach the young newbies about the game itself, the stories, the happenings the funnies and saddies, the opportuneties.... but they are just not interested. No, must move quickly from mission to mission to gain XP.
Luckily the game is still fun to me. As it still has it's upsides too.
Hell I'm a Superjump addict! I have boosted Leaping on one of my chars so far up that he can jump across half Atlas Park in one jump! It's so awesome!
Anyways...

Draw-over
As I was messing around with Paint Shop Pro 9 I wondered if I would be able to colour one of my first CoX related drawings one day. But all those drawings are already shaded with pencil. I didn't scan it when it was still line-art. Ofcourse I didn't wanna go around erasing all the work I'd done.
Then I thought..well, I might as well try and copy it myself.
Decreasing the colours to Black and White only doesn't work. You'll end up erasing billions of pixels, which takes ages to get right.
So I made use of the "visible-function" of a layer in PSP.
I put the original scan as a "background" layer. Then added a new layer (transparent or white, doesn't matter) and put that visibility at 66% (you can do as you please of course).
That gives me the opportunity to draw over my old drawings, ending up with the lines only.
As DarthDelicious's face in the original drawing didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it to, I changed that with the draw over... because I can!
Anyways... no need to redraw old stuff, just simply draw over!
Works for Photoshop aswell
I thought I'd share that with you lot.
Enjoy!

I knew you'ld like a little ball ^^. Yes, yarn would be better.. but that's too hard (still
)
With my new found knowledge (thanks Henri and CR!) I decided to try and colour one of the requests I've done a while ago. Indepence, owner DoctorMystery.
Still had a scan of the lineart, so that was very convenient.
Fire will have to wait
Well haven't finished it yet, just thought I put it up here for those who'd like to take a look at it. (only been working on the "blue")
Feedback is always welcome!

I (kind of) forced myself to finish the pink ball.
So here it is... Now actually round
And I put CR's shading tutorial to the test:
-
@Henri: Thanks! Now we'll see if I can put my just learned (very minor still) colouring skill into something else besides a ball
@Seinsei Blur: *giggles* I can't blame you! It appears to be about balls lately. -
Cheers! That actually works! *huggles*
.
I've noticed, the smudging takes practice, am I right?
It took me about 2 hours to create this little pink ball (yes.. it hád to be pink :P)
I was going to make it round again, but it's bedtime now, so that'll have to wait till tomorrow (and when I've figured out how exactly I'm going to do that :P)
How did I do sofar?
Night!

Oh my! I do hope you don't mean a complete zone *giggles*. Can it be part of a possible new zone?
And are characters aloud to be 'in' the art, as..bystanders so to say?
This should be quite the challange!

I'm actually relieved to hear there's hope!
I had a typical Dutch meal... eh... I'm just not good with translating that lol...
So my best shot;
Baked Potatoslices?
With... Butter beans.. or green beans?
A meatball:
And some chicken..eh.. fillet? (without bones) (left over). I couldn't find an image of that which didn't look distasteful.
*starts up PSP9 again*
I'll be waiting for your examples! Thankies vewwy vewwy much! ^^

*looks sad*
Despite your effort to explain some basic colouring, (which is very, very much appriciated) I hate to admit... I has no clue of what I'm doing.
It appears, once again (just like with drawing stuff) that I need a visual example to get things done. In this case, visual step-by-step examples on how to do things, which is frustrating as they are hard to find. (I know how google works, but I seem to be chosing the wrong words every time)
Maybe I'm just being impatient (it wouldn't surprise me)... but I've been trying for 2 whole days now (at least 10 hours a day) trying every option of colouring, how they work, what they do and how I can possibly use them... (which I still have no clue of.. I know what they cán do...I just don't know how)...and all I learned was how to add layers and select them. Oh, and how to make things transparent. Imo, that's not much.
Yes, I put the Chichester Dawson drawing aside and tried colouring a basic form like a circle instead...
Now I shall prepair dinner, hoping I can find comfort in eating it and build up some new courage to again try and colour stuff in PSP9.

I tried matches the first time... but they ruined my computer!

Thanks
I didn't colour the "fire" myself... I put an effect on it... *blushes* Using Illumination Effects..
I'll see what else I can do with that..
I do have a habit of not making it easy for myself hehe.
Should I have a layer for each colour? -
Does anyone have tips&tricks about creating fire?
