Yeah... don't get me wrong, I love the idea of power customization (depending on how it's implemented anyways). However, it'd be nice to be able to try new, interesting things instead of doing the same stuff just with different colors. Who knows? Maybe we'll get both.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I doubt the entire issue will just be that. I'd frankly be amazed if the issue didn't at least have some new story arcs or a new TF or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's been my experience that the more recent issues had a "look at some of what we're doing in the next issue!" announcement and more was revealed as time went on. However, that isn't really the case for I15 - other than some minor QoL tweaks, we're getting a buggy and poorly-written TF and SF (at least the SF was when I tried it, I haven't done the TF), some costume stuff (woo), and that's about it.

I have a feeling that with such a "huge" feature as power customization (I say that because I know how much time it likely took to get working, and because a lot of people have been asking for it), there won't be a lot more in I16 worth going on about, which just makes it a glorified lightshow. I am not going to rule out any later-revealed features (I13 and I14 were certainly full of those, no matter how bad some were) but I guess I wouldn't be surprised if power customization was the "big thing" in I16.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be fair, things on the test server should be expected to be buggy. I'm not saying that it won't have problems when it goes live, nor that there haven't been instances of exactly that happening recently... but don't lay down the buggy complaint until it is live... it's on Test to fix the bugginess.

It's cool to have more options but I would rather have more baddies to fight, new places to see, and more powers to try.

    Seconded.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thirded! (is that a word?)

I may very well be wrong, but color customization while nice, seems like something were the "Shiny" will wear out quickly.
Seems like all the work hours spent on it might have gone elsewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it probably wouldn't have. Color Customization would have involved mostly programming work. New content would require a far bigger contribution from designers and artists. But hopefully there is more to the update than the customization.

You mean like posting in a thread that got locked, like this one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

So how much of Positron's post did you read in that thread?

Enough to know it was a "pt 2"? and if so, Did you read the "Pt. 1" where he said "Blame me"?

You were going after BAB for soemthing he had no power over.

    Not like Positron.

    Not like Castle.

Or the programmers, or Castle's new helpers Synapse and Sunstorm.

They all had more power (and responsibility) over this.

It's like bugging the lunch lady to take responsibility for the hospital she works at when there was a breach of patient confidentiality.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, programmers and designers don't have any more pull over customer service than artists do. Programmers might be tasked to implement something for CS (such as a script) but they aren't often the driving force behind a customer service policy or change. Now, that doesn't mean this wasn't somehow a coders fault, or that Positron wasn't the driving force behind this. It certainly seems that way given the posts he's made, and there may be more responsibility there in this case than normal. But generally, programmers don't govern customer service. If a company is big enough, they have programmers specifically for the business side of the company that are separate from the game development.

BaBs is probably muzzled from saying anything it about this until Posi has.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not going to comment on it for two reasons.

One, it's way outside of my department. I wasn't involved in the decisions and know absolutely nothing about what was done to who or why (outside of very broad generalities that everyone is already aware of).

Two, it's entirely a customer service issue. It's against the forum rules to discuss customer service issues here on the forums. And whether anyone wants to believe it or not, I'm just as beholden to the rules of these forums as the rest of you.

I was perusing this thread, saw reference to 'Man of La Mancha'--a play that my wife did props for in college--and pointed out that the Golden Helmet of Mambrino was actually a shaving basin.

I probably should have paid more attention to the original topic of the thread and the unintended attention that having a link to an OT post in the Dev Digest would bring to it, and for that I apologize.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm glad you feel no sense of responsibility for the actions of a company in which you are employed with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, you'd prefer that he break the forum rules, talk about something that's not even remotely related to his job description, and by doing so, probably risk his job, for the sake of being perceived as a better employee. So, if he does that, and he gets fired, your upstanding employee is now gone and you're worse off than before.

    That's a nice no-win scenario you've set up there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about.. I'd like someone to openly take responsibility for it and not just pass the buck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about... seeking out a proper employee then? It should be painfully obvious that BaBs isn't that employee, and berating him for some apparent lack of resposibility when he has no power regarding the situation is pretty sad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see where this is going. If you or anyone else would like to post the name of the SOLE person responsible for this [censored]-up ('cause it's clear that you don't think the company as a whole is responsible), then please by all means, let me know who you think I should be berating.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not suggesting you contact ONE person. I'm suggesting you contact customer service, which seems to be the portion of the company that was responsible for multiple parts of this... mess. Escalation (if possible) should (hopefully) eventually get to someone with the ability to handle the issue, even if they lack the authority to make public statements about it. I say hopefully because i have no experience with whether customer service actually works that way. If you still feel the need to broadcast to a wider audience and include the rednames, you might try a forum other than Justice for better coverage (assuming you haven't already done so). And to reiterate, I've no problem with anyone voicing their complaint to BaBs on the hope he might be able to carry concerns higher up. But expecting a concrete response from him and berating him when it doesn't arrive just comes off looking like petty flailing.

Lol i said to someone mine would be deleted as well.

PERC is player run with very limited support from the devs and no i was not removed from there. I resigned.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, confused and exiting the conversation at this point. I don't understand how you resigning equates to NCSoft expecting certain behavior from you. But again, I don't know what happened in your case, and at this point, it doesn't really matter (to me) as we're drifting farther afield (in a sense) of the original topic.

As I stated way back at the beginning of this thread, there is a disturbing trend here, and rather than an apology, I hope to see improvement in several things in the near future... game wise, customer service wise, and developer wise. I also hope you get some closure to your particular situation, and if that resolution isn't satisfactory, I hope that at a minimum it improves their process for the future so that such things don't happen, or at least happen with less frequency.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Again, it's only because I have a good feel on those people who have RSVPed thus far. I just don't see any of those individuals to pull such a stunt...I've met them, don't see such actions in their nature and trust them. I can't speak for anyone who hasn't RSVPed yet, but as I said above, I won't tolerate such nonsense on something that's intended to be a fun event for the local Justice folks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]

The expectations being laid at the feet of an employee that simply doesn't fit the position required for an appropriate response to this issue are simply silly. I wholeheartedly encourage those that wish to, to contact customer service or approach other facets of NCSoft to get their views aired to the appropriate audience.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Once again like TJ you assume I have not done this, I have the silence is not just on the forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I'm not sure where in my statement there was an assumption that you (or anyone else) has not contacted anyone beyond the forums. I encouraged it, and that was the extent of the statement. I think you are reading too much into some of the replies here.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also i didn't say he couldn't post, you said you couldn't see Iggy's point i pointed out how it may seem to others. Also I didn't say he couldn't post on the Justice forums I said it may have been a poor JUDGEMENT call to post in this thread. However as Pum pointed out i didn't see the positive aspects of him posting here provided he actually read anything else in the thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If Iggy's point was that BaBs shouldn't have posted in this thread at all then 1) It was poorly portrayed as such and 2) reread where I think that will lead in my previous post.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also I am continuing my behind the scenes fight so if you think I have not tried to contact people you are wrong I have just decided to move higher up the food chain than the dev's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, I made no comment about whether you or anyone else did or did not contact appropriate channels.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also about expectations funny how it's ok to have them for me, see I had my PERC title removed since I spoke out in a position contrary to theirs and I am not an employee yet I was told it was because they expected different of me. I guess it's silly of me to have expectations of a company leader.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not silly to have expectations of a company leader. BaBs is NOT a company leader. He's an artist... lead artist specifically. He probably has exactly zero to do with ANYTHING related to this issue. So, folllowing that, it's silly to have unreasonable expectations from that particular employee in regards to this issue. And yes, I consider it unreasonable to expect BaBs to only respond in an on-topic manner in a forum who's very existence and flavor is based on the off-topic and meandering discussions. I don't expect everyone to agree with that viewpoint, and I'm not implying that everyone should. I do, however, feel that allowing a forum (and the developers) to function in that manner (ie, allow them to be human AND have fun) will make the forums a more enjoyable place.

Now, I have no idea how and why you lost your PERC title. I haven't followed every conversation about this issue since the beginning. First, it was my understanding that PERC was a player-run organization that got some limited support from the developers. If the developers or customer service removed you from a player-run organization, I'd say that obviously oversteps the bounds of their authority. However, once you ask for (and receive) support from the developers, the organization, unfortunately becomes somewhat of a public face for them, whether players and forum posteres view it as such or not. If the organization is ultimately run by NCSoft in some fashion (and supported by volunteer players) then they are within their rights to remove someone from that organization. I won't comment on whether it's right or wrong that they did so in your situtation (or any other), as I don't know the specifics... but if it is their organization, it's their right, not yours.

Finally, I fully expect this post to be deleted due to existing forum rules... 3... 2... 1...
