  1. Might have gotten lost in the shuffle. I had a classified ad, too, but I figure it'll just pop up in the next one. Holidays are usually a one-word synonym for "oh-my-God-what-else-will-go-wrong-with-half-the-staff-gone-and-no-one-knows-where-anything-is".

  2. *watches NIGHT PRAYERS and blanches*

    Oh, hell.

*watches the other two videos by Vertical Studios and blanches even further*

    Oh, bloody hell.

Watching stuff like this always rouses mixed feelings in me.

    1) PRIDE - knowing that stuff like this actually EXISTS for COH/COX that is just that damned GOOD.
    2) CHAGRIN - knowing that I can't do that quality of work.
    3) DESPAIR - thinking I may NEVER do that quality of work.
    4) RECKLESSNESS - fully intending to try anyway.

While I fully appreciate Lighthouse putting my vid in the same thread as NIGHT PRAYERS, my work doesn't hold a candle to it. NIGHT PRAYERS was fricking brilliant... and thankfully, it proves that a lot of the stuff I want to do in my vids is actually POSSIBLE.

  3. Glad everyone liked it! I spent most of my Christmas break learning how to do further editing on demorecords, so I hope to push things to the next level with my next vid!

  4. When I get back from Bisbee, I will have to check out NIGHT PRAYERS... I'm not sure I want to see someone's work that is so blatantly outshining mine, but hey, how else can I learn how to go from good to awesome?

    Do 'em "Sentai Sage Styled"

Start with a random idea, and fly by the seat of your pants until someone looks over and says, "Awesome"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Half my videos are done by the seat of my pants and to random stuff. The other half come from random stuff that my husband mentions might be entertaining.

(And I really need to start doing AMVs again... I have a DBZ video that is screaming to be made, if I can overcome my loathing of Hercule Satan long enough to make the video.)

Heh, I wish I had the time to write out the script for a demo-video for this song I've had in my head. I've been thinking that song would be SO perfect. Course, the way I see it in my head would require massive amounts of editing so...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do it a little at a time... that way it's not as overwhelming. That's how I do a lot of my vids.

    *chuckles*

That was good. I'm going to have to show that one to some friends of mine. Many thanks for letting me take a small part in the process.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thanks for being in it!

    [ QUOTE ]
Hahahaha... that was great <^_^> Not as good as some of the other vids; but it was FUN! I loved the "Rock Concert Movement number 4; the behind the head leg bend..."

and everyone /em Protests lol <,<

Give me time, I will eventually get that good...

Ok this made me giggle - I think it was seeing Lord Recluse jumping up and down like some whacked-out e-tard that got me

    [/ QUOTE ]

My husband just about fell off his chair when he saw that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Once again, a great video! Incredible timing on the edits, good choice of music, and all around a fun video to watch. Blue Man Group, for the win!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thank you, thank you!

    Blue Man Group? Epic Win.

Awesome editing? Even More Epic Win.

It was a toss-up between this and their cover of "I Feel Love"... this just worked better.

    [ QUOTE ]
Been watching it all night, and I just wanted to say, I love the sceen from 3:35-3:49. Well done

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hope you got some sleep at least!

And the shots of the Menders was one of my "last minute inspirations that worked out better than I'd hoped," especially Lazarus' "duh" moment.

  8. Nothing like finishing the year with a bang! This may very well be the FASTEST video I've ever done, because once I got started, there was no stopping it!

Unlike the other three (which were based on issue releases), this one is pure, music video, unbridled fun!

As usual, the low-res version is on YouTube , while the high-res version is on the Videos page of the Samuraiko Productions website!

    Enjoy! I know *I* did!

  9. You know, as stupid as this might seem to some, the thing I liked best was Chris' advice to the players to take some time to appreciate real life every now and again. While I count myself fortunate that both I (and my husband) know when to turn the game off and spend time with family, friends, and each other, it's good to see that others know how to do the same, and encourage people to follow that example.

    Samuraiko uses Sony Vega v8.0

I WANT >_< *Dreams of titles, frame changes, blends screen layout, and other editing that WMM just can't do*

    brb, writing letter to Santa.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I use Sony Vegas 8.0 (Platinum edition). Well worth the $130 I spent for it. It does take a little bit of getting used to, but the customization options FAR outweigh the "ease" of using WMM.

I did both of my BABYLON 5 videos using Vegas, and loved how they came out. Now I should go back and re-do my earlier vids to improve them...

Any chance at this video being captioned / subtitled for those of us who cannot hear?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, video with captioning is done! (In a couple of places where it's really bright, you might have to wait a sec for the text to become visible, but the whole thing is captioned now.)

You can get it here. This is the 720x480 version, roughly 70MB saved as a WMV file.

  12. *laughing*

    Let's see...

Johanna Sinclair - "Escape from Mantua" from the ROMEO AND JULIET soundtrack
Dark Respite - "Bluff" from BLUE GENDER
Kakita Nasami - "Flash of the Blade" by Iron Maiden
Distraction - "Witchy Woman" by Kat Bjelland (from the SONGS OF THE WITCHBLADE soundtrack)
Agent Blake - "Here I Come to Save the Day" from MIGHTY MOUSE
Arc Mage - "Zodiacal Sign" from AQUARIAN AGE: SIGN FOR EVOLUTION

God, with as many alts as I have, this list could be huge, but these cover the big ones.

    Good thread!

I can do a captioned/subtitled version for you over the weekend, if you'd like. Easy enough to just import the whole video into Vegas and add a text layer to it.

Thank you - I tried very hard (and was briefly proud of myself until I saw the OFFICIAL I-11 trailer and was promptly depressed at how much better theirs was).

Hey, we can both do vids for I-12. Or are you saying you want the Sentai Force in my next trailer?

Oh, by the way - my husband actually built the "Manky Scotch Git" from your infamous video (and he really DOES look like him), so if you ever intend to reshoot "Sentai Lavender...", let him know, he'd love to be in it!

  20. Bugger, and I was so proud of my I-11 trailer until I saw this. But yes, props for an awesome voice actor and good filming. I wonder who they got to voice Silos...

But hey, at least now I know I have a new bar to surpass for I-12!

Tell me how you do your text tricks! (i.e., the text changing while it zooms in, and al lthe other cool stuff)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sony Vegas Platinum 8.0b has the option of modifying keyframes. Over the duration of a clip, I can change the text so that one 'text' clip has something like 80 different keyframes (such as the random numbers over the opening shot).

    [ QUOTE ]
One question I have, was who the NPC was that it seemed to have been that had Dual Blades? Looked like Laz..?

That was 'Pirate Westley' on the test server. He did a great job, didn't he?

The one thing i didn't like about your original teaser originally was that over half the video was opening and ending credits.

This rectifies that error, for the most part =)

LOVED the "fuutre version" with the eyepatch... that made me lol

And great cinematography! You really do great work =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

About the credits - I know. But after folks kept trying to steal earlier (anime) works of mine, now EVERYTHING has credits, even when they're longer than the teaser.

Yes, Johanna's future version has lost an eye. I wonder how... I'm sure there's another book there somewhere.
