I've never done the LGTF so I'm always up for that - I can arrange to be on either with Johanna (who's on John's account), or, if someone on Justice (or willing to hang out longer on Test) can help me get Agent Tavarisch to 50 (she's lvl 39 - my grav/kin troller) I'll be happy to bring her (since she's on MY account).
This should rock - the videographers go on a TF.
And I still need to finish my videographers movie, ESPECIALLY now that the machinima contest is over! I need to double-check who sent me footage of their characters...

Since as far as I know, we're not gaming on Saturday, I'll certainly try. Intrepid videographer Johanna Sinclair is lvl 50, so I can certainly bring her along!
ITF or LGTF is fine by me - I can see it now...
Random other player: "How the hell did you guys take six hours doing the ITF?"
Dark_Respite: "Oh, we were constantly pausing things to set up shots and tell the NPCs what to do so we could get close-ups, and then there was the lighting issue..."

Nope, it's not Apotheosis. I've tracked down most of their versions and remixes and it's not them.

Okay, I need help with this one. I know there are a lot of folks on here who listen to a LOT of different things, and so I'm publicly begging for help here.
Everyone knows the famous Carl Orff piece "O Fortuna" from CARMINA BURNA. Several folks know that it's been done as a techno remix by groups such as Apotheosis.
However...
There is one particular remix of it that I have been pulling my hair out trying to find, because I want to use it in a video and the only place I have found it is in someone else's video and the music quality, frankly, sucks. And try as I might, I cannot find it - it's like this music came out of nowhere.
You can find a sample of this rendition here. (This is a roughly 2 minute WMA file.)
If you do know who this is by, please send me a link confirming your information because I have already goose-chased this song all over the place. And I REALLY want to make my video for this!

Hooray, mine is there! Had to update its info because David handled the compression for me (fixed title and added description and stuff) but it's there! And getting good comments! Woot!
For those that were uploaded Sunday or earlier and sitting in compression, if David or GameTrailers handles the compression, it shows the date/time it was UPLOADED (ie, mine shows Saturday the 9th).
Good luck to everybody!

If not, I promise that my next project (apart from "Positron vs the Marketing Department") is going to be a video SCATHINGLY denouncing GameTrailers.com. I might have to learn how to use Leandro's Splasher program to do it properly, but if I find out that 50% of us were disqualified because their site wouldn't update, the mushroom cloud will be going up over Phoenix.

Yeah, yeah, Stone looks like a lady...
Sorry, it's way too early for me to be posting anything remotely approaching sense.
In other contest news, as of 7am PDT, August 11th, mine is STILL showing as compressing, but with luck, I will be hearing back from David today (which is good because I can't access the GameTrailers.com website from work) telling me that I'm good to go.
Of course, for those of you who actually have my email address, should you see my video come up on their site, someone please drop me a line?

I just found this forum (I'm not much for forums or I'd have found you all sooner). Those videos are all fantastic. I did the Babytoons one, but they just emailed me saying I will be disqualified if I don't send in a new one without Recluses Voice in it. I just figured it for a sound effect but I suppose it falls under the dialouge within the game category. I should have been more careful. Hope I got the new one in on time...
The competition is amazing. I've started watching some of the videos you all have made before the contest and they're great. Are some of you in editing professions?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not professionally trained as a video editor, but I'm becoming known as a rather prolific CoX videographer.Hoping to be able to do this professionally (if NCNorCal were to oblige me at some future date).
However, I can say that the group that hangs out in this forum is one of the cooler bunches of people I've known. As cheerfully competitive as we are, when one of us needs something, the rest jump in with suggestions and offers to help and such. Whether it's recommendations for software, help with code, or just sharing neat stuff we've learned, this is the place for CoX video makers to be.

I watched this video first without realizing what it was. I thought it was pretty cool.
I then watched it again after having learned it's context, and it was totally awesome.

Thanks.

FYI, for those of us/you whose videos have not yet made it onto the GameTrailers.com site - as soon as they DO appear (hopefully on Monday when the folks at GT get their act together), I promise I will comment and rate just like I have with everyone else's.

Hey, I'm just glad the thing is done.
Now I can get back to work on my eleven other video projects.
Michelle

Thanks very much - as for how the characters in my video use powers and stuff, as with powers, it's not how much code I can throw in, it's how I use it.
My current crowning achievement as far as my vids go?
I got a WoW player to go, "Forget this, I wanna play CoX instead."

Mine's still compressing... God knows how many hours later.

Okay, for the record (and please devs don't yell at me for this):
David.Muehl @ spike.com
Make sure you also CC:

Seems a few folks did - Mace Studios put theirs in there as well, but somehow that slipped past the initial screening, as did a couple of others.

Well, I got another answer from David that I very much appreciated. While he recommended I try uploading it in a different format (which I did - I tried an AVI file and still no luck), I also got the following:
"If that doesn't work, send us a link to where we can download it."
So I am going to try one more time to upload/compress the original high quality version I'd attempted yesterday, and I will be sending both David and the GameTrailers.com folks a link to the video on my server.
Those of you who are encountering the same problem may wish to do the same. While this probably isn't necessary, I encourage everyone to be polite and thank him for at least trying to make an effort to help us. (Of course, I'd have been fricking THRILLED if the damn site WORKED, but oh well.)

Okay, NOW I am starting to panic - have attempted to upload this for the third time (after taking down the resolution a bit from BEST to GOOD), and it's still sitting in "Compressing".
What really worries me is this email response I got back from David Muehl. when I asked him if there was anything else I could try.
"No try reuploading as a general user movie we can take care of monday morning if u can't get it up"
What worries me is that the tone of this email was not nearly as professional as his previous emails to me. I'm wondering if either a) he was rushed, or b) someone else was answering his email for him.

Well, David Meuhl did write back to me earlier this morning, but with not-very-helpful answers.

Gotta love Game Trailers, still marked as compressing after 20 hours.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just wrote to them raising a fuss about that myself - if this keeps up, I will be sending them the following:
a) a screenshot of my computer at the time of upload completion
b) a screenshot of my computer some stupid amount of time later that compression is still going on
c) and a link to my video on my server

What for? And what was all that griping about the music? The music seemed perfect for the mood of this video!
Great video, it's got a real shot at winning. To use a pun.The only gripe I have is that it's too hard to see the assassin in the sniper shots in low rez, at least after YouTube has its way with the compression.
And, like I just said, I'm REALLY impressed with the roll-around-corner and peeking moves! I expect to see a few posts on the tech forum soon asking what the command is to hide against a corner.

Re: the music - that's my remix of the Heroes1_Loop - all praise Sony Acid Pro! I gave it a much better and layered beat for more depth, took me about two hours to get it right, and the original 4 minute version sounds nifty, but I shortened it to 2:30 so it'd flow better with the video.
Re: the duck-and-fire? You see Hellions and Family doing that in Port Oakes, which is where I got it. There are a few MOV codes that work for that - I'll be happy to post them somewhere if I can figure out where "somewhere" should be.

Mine is still showing as "Compressing", but I'm going to leave it that way for a bit of the day, and write to them to find out what's going on (see if I get lucky and get another answer fairly fast).
To answer the earlier question, yes, my entry does not have the opening and closing titles on it - it starts with the NCSoft and Cryptic logos, and ends just as it fades to black and she's walking across the street.
Star_Dancer, yes, I know - those folks really do have no idea what hoops we jump through to make stuff look the way it looks (characters duck-and-firing, donuts raining, all that). But WE know.

Cheers to FBK and Mr_Mag, you were right. I got the same #109 error, waited a bit, clicked "My Movies" and now it's compressing. Will probably take a little under two hours (if it's 1 MB per minute).
