Oh that's just my name for it. I got sick of calling it "the statue of the girl reaching for the stars".
-
I will go and hang out by the statue for anyone not in the SG but will come to the base at 19:35 to hook up with everyone else. See you there people.
-
Are people happy to meet in the base or by Stargazer again? If we're going to meet in the base, I think someone should wait by the statue just in case anyone who isn't in the SG shows up. Any thoughts?
-
On a related note, are there any storylines that people would like to see us following? As our characters are becoming fairly well established now, do we want to start considering larger story arcs? For example, Amber will start getting hints to go and investgate the Lost and Dr Vahzilok's crowd due to her suspicion that they have taken her father. Do other people have a preference as to what villains we go after? (Or more accurately, do other people's characters have a preference?)
Just a thought as it means we can hopefully decide on possible missions before we start. Would our leader have any orders as to who to pursue? -
Amber certainly wouldn't kill, she's far too sweet and innocent for that. I'm not even certain whether she would even if some villain was holding her dad to ransom, she's just not that kind of girl. I think that if any of the Militia started killing around her, she may have words to say about it, possibly at a very loud volume...
As for Blitz or Hyper, I found Hyper more of an interesting character but then I never got to team with Blitz that much. Although you may be able to play both, it may be a little too much to ask of someone so perhaps you should just see how you go. If you can maintain two characters for a while, I reckon one will emerge as your prefered choice. I think Amber might miss having Hyper around though, but I don't think she'd admit it. Good luck in choosing. -
Hi there. Union is the kinda unofficial Roleplaying server so you'll probably find more roleplayers over here, the trick is finding them (I know, I am one!). Your best bet is to post in the Roleplaying section and you'll probably get a fairly healthy response. Also, you can put "Roleplayer" in your team search box which I find helps.
Of course, it would be remiss of me to not mention The Militia, the SG I'm part of who meet every Thursday night for in character missions. Have a read of the Roleplaying forum to get a feel for it all. Good luck.
P.S. I can also recommend going and saying hello to the Galaxy Girl crowd, they're a friendly bunch. -
Nah, we're still around the 15 mark I think. As our levels go up, I think the level cap will become less and less relevant. By the time we get into the 20s we'll have slowed to a crawl. As long as there's no massive differences in the team we should be ok. Hope to see you Thursday.

My best advice is to put Roleplayer in your search function and try to find people in areas like this that share your likes; and then try to build a coherent reason for sticking together before you start any RP.

I agree. Putting "Roleplayer" in my team search box has yielded some very pleasant encounters in both CoV and CoH so far. -
Hi, I think we were going to draw up a crib sheet so that we can all keep track of each other (because I for one have a crummy memory). This is what I have so far:
Character---Real Name---Forum Name
Amber Banshee---Saffron Mackenzie---Dante
Masked Angel---Meriam Kesser---Lotus_X
Diamondskin---Richard Rooster---Leif_Roar
Hyper Drive---Project Hyper---UltraNova
Derek---Derek Holden---Vlostok
Extrisity---Alex Franklin---Dutch_Barbarian
Force Commander---(Classified)---Cognito
Dragonfly ---Sabrina San---Pious
Hawkshaw---Nelson Prague---_Max_
That's what I have so far, let me know if I've missed anyone. -
I may be around on Monday evening with other alts but if there are people around who want to team up for a little levelling I could be up for that. I don't think we levelled very much last night so I suggest that we retain the 15/16 level cap from last week. Any thoughts?

Extracts from the Diary of Saffron Mackenzie, The Amber Banshee
Thursday 22 June 2006
Sad news it seems. I came home to a letter from the Minister stating that Devlin has turned evil or something like that. Its pretty confusing. He was such a nice guy when we fought together. I wonder what it could be that turned him? I hope hes ok.
There were only a few of us there tonight. Sabrina and Mr Hawkshaw turned up and there was this dude called Leygran who seems to have been ill for a while. He even saved me a couple of times but he was really intense, kept on hitting on Sabrina. Im worried about her. She seems so angry all the time. I know that her fathers death must have really upset her but she just seems so aggressive with everyone. I think I was the only person who didnt get shouted at tonight even though I now know that she doesnt like mutants. I do hope shes ok. Ive invited her over for dinner some time.
But I also got to see our base! Its really really techy with flashing lights and big screens and everything. Ive made sure that theres a supply of coffee and biscuits for when we get back from missions. I know that I get hungry after fighting and Im sure Hyper will want something to eat too knowing him. Id have put in some bottles of wine for Force Commander who turned up later but hell have to bring his own. He seems a very charming man.
And Dr Alexander was right about going out and enjoying jumping so high. It is fun. I think it must have been what all that itching business was about. At least thats stopped now.
Im still worried that Ive heard nothing about my dad. Ive been doing this for a month now and Ive still not found any leads. Mom seems so withdrawn about it all as if it isnt happening. If I dont get some clues soon, Im going to have to go and do this alone. -
Reduced numbers? Burning PCs? Bah, nothing can stop us!
Last night was a blast, thanks everyone. Plus also, the base looks great. -
I think meeting up in the base is fine although I think one or two of us should go to the usual place to meet anyone who wants to join and/or is not in the SG yet therefore can't get to the base. I volunteer to go stand near Stargazer from about 7 but may pop into the base just to see how it looks.
I have no idea how to go about designing bases so I'm quite happy to leave it in other people's hands, I'm sure it will be great.
Dragonfly as leader? (shudder! no offence, could be interesting) I guess we'll see who turns up and delegate as appropriate. See you all soon. -
I strike about a 50/50 balance of male and female with my characters but I can say without hesitation that the female characters are so much more fun to play, no idea why. In terms of getting a character 'right' I like to incorporate behaviour which I have observed around me. Just like when writing dialogue, it's a good idea to go and watch people and listen to how they talk. At the same time though, I'd say that there is no right or wrong, they are just your character in the end. It's all part of filtering events through your character and deciding how they would respond rather than how you would yourself.
I know that when I come up with a character that is a different gender to myself, it is important to decide what is important to that character and what isn't as this obviously informs their choices. And of course, men and women will have very different priorities (sometimes!). -
Shame to see you go BF, I hope you come back soon. Thanks for organising this fantastic band of Rpers. As for who should lead now, well, that's a hard question to answer. OOC character, I would be willing to help sort things out behind the scenes but IC, Amber simply isn't suited to leadership yet so I'd question whether she should be put in charge of anything. IC, I nominate Force Commander but I am quite happy to follow anyone really.
-
Is it possible to forth a suggestion? Anyway, I agree, I think mission arcs are the way to go, especially if they tie in with character progression. For example, I'm trying to get some missions to so with the Lost as they may be implicated in Amber's missing father etc...
I think we should be fairly strict on time though just so we don't waste it all chatting (although of course, that is fun too). So I reckon we should look to start fighting from 19:30 - 19:45. If someone turns up late, we either add them to an existing team or regroup and split into smaller teams. I hope that sounds ok to everyone.
On another note, I've noticed a few people who are having to leave to team (you will be missed!) so should we look to recruiting more? There are often posts in the Roleplay section from people looking for RP SGs, do we want to extend a friendly invitation or do we have enough people already? Thoughts on the matter duly invited.
And lest I forget, yes, I will be there tomorrow so I'll see you all then. Looking forward to it. -
I guess this would be the place to admit that I too have only recently discovered the joys of RPing. Although I prefer IC missions, I've taken a couple of toons to GG a few times and have been made very welcome. (Only a couple, otherwise it just gets confusing!) So thank you everyone.

Well, there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with you physically, said Dr Alexander as he peered into Saffrons eyes.
What do my eyes have to do with my legs? she asked as the doctor powered his wheelchair back to his desk. She hopped off of the table and wandered over to where he sat in front of his massive supercomputer.
Absolutely no idea, he replied. But then you know that biological sciences are not my specialty.
Saffron looked about his laboratory. Everywhere there were various machines, computers and wires, some intact, some not. Various lifeless robots were strewn about, waiting to be operated on. Near the door, Unit 29 sat reading a book, the paperback made to look tiny between his massive fingers.
I guess, she said, but youre the only doc I know who deals with superheroes.
Oh my dear, he replied, there are plenty out there, you just havent had a chance to meet them yet. You dont need to be afraid, theyre quite used to dealing with mutants at the clinics you know.
I guess, she said, toying with one of the numerous unknown devices on his table. So what do you think is wrong?
Dr Alexander pushed his glasses back up his nose. Hed only met Saffron twice before but her shyness was obvious from day one.
I dont think theres anything wrong, he said. Its probably just your mutation evolving. Youre able to repel things away from your body at will. I think youre simply learning how to do it with your feet as well.
Doc, I leapt to the roof of the train station yesterday. she retorted, Last week I was shooting baskets with my cousin and ended up on a fire escape when I jumped too high. How far is this going to go? How long before flicking lint off my jumper causes someone an injury?
Dr Alexander shrugged. I dont know, he said. All powers take some learning because they can be dangerous. Your voice is a fabulous weapon but you need to be careful on how you focus it. The first time you rode your motorcycle, you could have ran into someone. Get out there, go leaping over rooftops, enjoy it, some people would love to have your gift.
He smiled and she returned it. She couldnt help but think of the doctor, wheelchair bound as he was and feel very lucky. Maybe this could prove to be fun -
Hi Atrum. The Militia is an SG of roleplayers who gather on Thursdays to do a couple of hours of in-character gaming (hunting, missions etc) on the Union server. We've been going for about a month now so we're still fairly recently established. If you want to get more of a flavour of the in-character stuff you should have a read of "The Militia" thread under roleplayer which is mainly all written in-character.

Morning all. How many times did we die last night?
Gotta say, that last night was fantastic once it got going. Took a little time to get there but once we started it was great for teamwork, roleplay and xp. I hope everyone else had as good a time as I did.
However, we should address a few issues. We are a large team and so we need to co-ordinate how we team up better. A lot of the problems came because of late arrivals, but that should be expected and we should have something in place to deal with that. For example, if we have two teams of eight going and another person turns up, we should regroup to sort it out. Any ideas welcomed.
Another thing that I think we need to consider (and input from more experienced roleplayers is most welcome here) is how we respond to non-RP people in the game. Our gatherings under Stargazer are attracting attention and Id be keen to see other peoples take on how we handle curious parties who decide to tag along. Also, if non-RPers want to join the team on a mission, do we accept? Personally, I think no as it disrupts RP but its a toughy, so I thought Id ask and see what others think.
Sorry to see two of our number leaving, you will be missed. But for me, this is rapidly turning into the highlight of my week so thanks everyone for making it so enjoyable.

Finally got round to creating a CoV character for roleplay (although not sure how much goes on in CoV), I've found her backstory a little long (there's me getting carried away again...). So here it is, for what it's worth. Feedback always appreciated.
The Ballad of Dark Rose Tara
----------------------------
I was eight when it started. That was when my parents decided to give up on their sham of a marriage. Now Im not one of those whiny, tree huggers who blame everything on their parents breaking up, but it did teach me some valuable lessons in life nothing lasts forever, people hurt each other and If you want something, take it, otherwise itll be gone. I pretty much made them my maxims. Mom got together with this Skar dude pretty soon afterwards and I guess he was ok. Taught me how to ride a motorbike, showed me the joy of a good whisky and taught me how to throw a decent punch.
Things started getting real messed up when I hit my teens. Depression, eating disorders, juvenile alcoholism, yeah, I was pretty screwed up by fourteen. But at least it was fun sometimes. A few years in and out of mental homes then back home for more messing with my head. I got out of it as much as I could. You name it, I tried it. Anything I could take or do or have done to me, I did it. I have no regrets, no shame. At least Ive lived.
Then again, if I hadnt have taken that pill that some weird guy in the club gave me, I wouldnt be here. The docs all thought that itd just put me in a coma, knocked me out for a few months. But I know what happened
I remember something opening in my mind, a hole that led to nothingness. I remember falling through, just falling without end. I cant recall what went on there but it was dark, very dark. My next memory is of waking in a hospital bed, seven months having passed me by. Something was different though. I knew that the hole in my mind was still there, a passageway to the Netherworld or Trippy Space-freak land as I call it. There are things there, living things. I can feel them press on our world, crawling around my head trying to find a way out. But it also made me wicked strong. Something about going to that place has changed me forever and I like it. I wasnt expecting to grow the horns, but when they came, I embraced them, a symbol of my journey to the lands of the dead.
So why am I here in the Rogue Isles? Work mainly. I dont have an education and I certainly aint interested in using these powers for anyone but me. I deserve them after what Ive been through and Im looking after number one. Ill take what I want, but I wont hide behind a shiny costume or corporation to do it. The world owes me, I owe it nothing! -
Not a bad idea at all. I think if we were to collate something that went:
Forum Name; Hero Name; Character Name
It might be useful at least until we all get to know all the names off by rote (you're not the only one with a bad memory...). Hell, I'd print it out and attach it to my screen like a little SG crib sheet.
Therefore, I'll start the ball rolling with:
Dante - The Amber Banshee - Saffron Mackenzie -
Yes, it was a rather great team up. Short but eventful. It's great to be able to look around and realise there are other team-mates online and hook up with them.
As for 14, I doubt I'll be that level either but I'm with you on hoping we hit 14 by the end of the session. Amber's legs can only itch for so long...!
