The devs COULD give up and shut the game down. Tomorrow.
The devs COULD all run mad with cleavers.
The devs COULD ...
Simply because they COULD do something doesn't mean there's a snowball's chance in Hell with the heat turned up that it's going to happen.
Now that you've picked your nit, you feel better?
[/ QUOTE ]
It was never my intention to "pick a nit" it just bugs me seeing people say things like "The devs couldn't do that because it would be like false advertising with the Architect edition on the shelves".
My only point (originally) was that there is no such thing as "false advertising" when it comes to MMO's. They frequently change in drastic ways from whatever is advertised on the original box(or even subsequent re-releases).
That was it. Nothing else. I didn't intend to imply that I thought they should or shouldn't do anything, only that they could if they chose. -
I NEVER said I believed that they *should* remove AE, I simply said that it COULD be done...contrary to what so many people like to say.
Reading comprehension has long since become a lost art on the internet it seems. -

They'd have to institute a recall on the box version plugging AE as a sell point.
Also, sure people are abusing the system, and the devs are trying to make it stop, and even though they never will be able to stop it completely, they can continue to try and curtail it.
Leaving it only to 50s, almost no one would use it.
The only thing I can think of is a little marker that comes up next to a lvl 50 chars name that says if they spent most of their time in the AE building, or running dev content.

I'm not in the mood to read through 8 pages of the same old stuff about why they can't change the AE, but this was right on the front and really bugs me.
It does not matter that they sold a boxed copy called Architect Edition. That box, just like every other MMO box, plainly says "Game experience may change during online play".
The Devs can, will, and do change the game. -
The fact that lower level characters are using the AE isn't an issue.
The issue that most people seem to have with it is that for a lot of new players AE is ALL they know. -
I never said nobody at all wanted to be in the shard, I simply said nobody wanted the jet pack vendor in the shard. Reading comprehension is a good thing.
And yes, that IS me making a generalization that may not be accurate.
The AE as an alternate means to 50...great! That means farming is ok right? Along with all the other problems it creates. -

Quite obviously you'd need to remove the level restriction on the zone.
And even more obvious is the fact that this isn't a serious solution, but more of a way to get people to think outside their tiny little box.
Ah well....
[/ QUOTE ]
I see no indication in your original post that implies the suggestion being serious or not so how were you expecting me to not take it seriously?
I'm sure there's a good reason there's a level restriction for the area too, one of them being perhaps to prevent lowbies from beng able to buy raptor packs there and thus invalidating the incentive to do the safeguard mission to get it.
Last but not least Peregrine Island isn't intended for lowbies anyway. I'd imagine it's hard enough running past snipers there to get to Portal Corp without getting one-shotted.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the point isn't it? Making the AE less accessible to lowbies. People that ALREADY have high level toons will know about it and may indeed still use it to farm.
But people just starting out in the game will have no idea where it's at or how to get to it. Nor will they be bombarded with broadcasts for farming teams the instant they leave the tutorial.
As for the jet pack vendor and what have you, move it. Nobody likes it being in the shard anyways, so I see no reason why it would have to remain there. -

You're suggesting that I've got to be at least level 40 to use the AE since it would be exclusively in the Shadow Shard.
Very Bad idea. Sorry.
Last but not least, it pays to do a little research on the zone before making a suggestion like this, seeing that you expected to see lowbies in there.

Ok...I don't think this has been suggested yet...at least I hope not
To fix farming without making drastic changes to the way the MA works, and at the same time revitalize an old zone that hasn't seen use in some time, the devs could remove ALL AE buildings from the rest of the game and put a single, unmarked, building containing the MA in the Shadow Shard.
Also make the Shadow Shard a coop zone and give the villains access...
I can just imagine the lowbies trying to navigate those stupid jump things. -
