And here is the colored version:
Hope you can stop by to see more cool art & articles, at my blog Here.
Its full of pleasant sci fi nostalgia, including Thundercats, Voltron, Bravestarr and Star Wars.
I know some folks are slightly addicted to Facebook.
And there's nothing wrong with that. So I created this page: Here.
Stop by and give a "thumbsup". Thanks! -
Been busy with work... I completed this project a while ago.
Inked version:

Thanks for the links Henri
I've spent over an hour striving to create my character via the COH game's creation program. Aligning it with my original design [not yet shown here] is easier said than done.
Man, work keeps me from facing it directly, with as much time as I desire.
There is the option of tweaking my drawing board design, to match what the software app shows, or I can keep trying to adjust what I see on the screen to match my design sketch....
Rest assured, when I'm ready to showcase my character, I'll post it. -
OK, Here is a piece of art, straight from the drawing board. Something I'm working on, a commission for a guy at Myspace. Yes, I am old school. I'm 30. I was alive when the first Tron movie came out. & I still use Myspace
This is still a rough sketch, in my opinion. Things might change. He may end up holding something, or standing on a tall mountain. The Bat jet thingy in the BG may change too, and skyscrapers may be added in photoshop. Image may look a bit "stretchy", as I was looking down with a digital camera, gazing at the drawing board. The item on the bottom right is a tv remote that sneaked into the shot. More to come later... -
Quote:The character War Witch is now a ghost in Croatoa. And now, she's also in Pocket D, though she's not dead there. In both zones, she's a trainer.
However, I was refering to the Developer, Melissa "War Witch" Bianco, Lead Designer for City of Heroes.
Thanks for the links & the insights man! That really cleared things up!
If Melissa checks it out, Hope she likes my Stateman -
Thanks Vexxxa... went over to DA and saw your game character; shes a hottie
-
Quote:I had that one. Have a little faith. The download got interrupted halfway through Sounds.pigg, the single largest file in the download. When you restart it, it starts from the beginning of Sounds.pigg, but until it gets some new data, it says there's no progress. Since there's no progress, the "time to complete" goes to some ridiculous amount, as it's just measuring the average speed of the progress bar.
If you almost finished Sounds.pigg before you were interrupted, it might take quite some time to see any progress.
Regardless, best of luck with the install, and I hope you get to enjoy the game soon. Great poster, too!
Thanks for the encouragement man... it finally worked! -
LOL no disappointment, just do what you're comfortable with.
If you can find the old stuff to build on the novel, thats cool; if not, just tackle whatever comes to mind as the inspiration flows. Great writers get better with every fresh thing they tackle, so either way you can't go wrong.
BTW, Here's a screenshot showing the sort of problem I was having with downloading the COH game:
-
OK, Lady Arete... you mentioned the mythology, the history, the current story, the map and a novel [which could evolve into a series].
Damn; Most people just want to hack & slash the villains in Paragon city, & you're building the next great mystical superhero saga
I'm not certain if you want to pull all of your characters into the saga you want to create, or just Cyrene and Carolyn. Either way, tying heroes / heroines together closely or by several degrees, will make it easier to write about them.
Glancing back at allllllllllllll you want to do... That’s a whole lot to tackle, all at once.
But I know you can do it, just from the way you wrote the lengthy biography for Carolyn. Just take it one day at a time, and the ideas will flow -
Gotcha. I'll look up Sister Psyche & Miss Liberty
I'm struggling with the COH character designer software... it seems a bit limited to me, per what I have in mind...
I'll eventually post a drafted pic showing my character, & then I'll show the best "Game generated" costume I've been able to come up with so far. -
Thanks Kheldarn. Right now I don't know who War Witch is, I'll have to look her up
-
Thanks Terminal Velocity, I'll look up Miss Liberty...

Here is the colored Statesman poster:
I'm still new to the COH franchise. I've noted that this guy is the flagship char / equivalent of Superman. If anyone knows the COH equivalent of Wonderwoman, please let me know. -
Thanks for the welcome & pointers Dante.
Man, I'll admit to you that there are pro-artists that I envy as well.
I've learnt that drawing is comparable to driving. Some people do it perfectly on their first try, others just need a bit more practice. But trust me, practice makes perfect -
LOL That’s cool. Glad you got the sneakpeak at the colors. My blog usually gets updated before every other web site I oversee, including the deviantart and facebook fanpage. I test things there, and often change/edit colored pics there first, before “sending them abroad”.
I guessed your bio took quite time to write; it was very comprehensive. Some people are gamers first. Others are artists. I quickly concluded that you are a writer [is that accurate?]
Guess it couldn't hurt to have a hero and an arch nemesis for him to hunt.
I'll head over to the DSNG blog site and check all the image links -
LOL Thanks for the feedback Caemgen. I'll start with one character and build from there. It’s good to know that we can switch personas from good to evil in the future, or vice versa.
It was the peculiar art I saw posted on DA that drew me to this franchise.
Thus I started drawing samples to build my portfolio, and my quest for more led me beyond the fan arts, here, to the original website.
As an artist, I take character creation seriously; so I’ll probably draft my guy first, before using the game designing software to try and mimic it as much as possible
Had a prob with the game download, & I'll be contacting admin with some questions tomorrow. -
Thanks ChristopherRobin.
Honestly man, I'm leaning towards creating a villain. I know they smell funny, can't seem to settle for regular day jobs, and tend to loose grand battles in most hero movie franchises, but there's still something appealing about being a cool bad guy... -
Thanks Kheldarn! Colored version will be posted soon.
-
Lady Arete, I noted a lot of depth to your backstory for Carolyn. The disapproval of her father, the jealousy of her mother, her relationship with Andrew, the attempted blackmail by Benjamin, and the drama that ensued when she was introduced to the Circle of Thorns during her vacation in America.
Her searing Phoenix & spell powers are cool. Her time in prison almost looks like a rite of passage that helped to mature her as an experienced character, who has had highs and lows.
Well done on that bio! -
Thanks Lady Arete... about to read through your character's bio
-
Greetings to my fellow heroes and villains
I'm a graphic designer in Atlanta. ...Downloading the game right now. Wanted to share some recent fan art I did of the Statesman:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Wa5ZmL_ju48/TLJGI-RcNzI/AAAAAAAAATw/2trmIabrCSs/s1600/the+statesman+1+city+of+heroes+by+dsng.jpg
Pic was inspired by a Superman pose done by art legend Jim lee.
I hope to post the colored version of the pic tomorrow [Monday].
Still working on my OC for the game; torn between creating a hero or a villain.
