Bringing this thread back on topic momentarily
Quote:You forgot the ponytail. Nothing simultaneously says "I can haz supervillainy?" and "I fathered a 'Jersey Shore' cast member" quite like a slicked-back ponytail.
Interestingly enough when Trenchcoats came out one of the first costumes I made using them was for my main villain (he's a Rogue now) thei nteresting part is the only hairstyle that really worked for the look was the ponytail.
But here's the real kicker the character is a D&D styled Dark Elf who are notoriously evil.
So I have a Black Trenchcoat wearing,slick-back ponytailed Dark Elf.
He certainly has an evil look to him and i never really thoguht about how appropriate that particular costume was until this thread. -
Quote:Can you prove a definite connection between Blitz and Arachnos? have you any evidence to show that Blitz is acting on the orders of Recluse? So there's zero chance that someone like Recluse would put on a show for the international community that he was taking action?
What was it you were saying in that other thread.....
"Innocent until proven guilty as any Hero knows" -
All of the Patron Powers crit properly with single target attacks havign a 100% crit from Hide/Placate and the AoE's having a 50% chance to crit.
Stalker APP's IIRC do not properly crit at all using the Scrapper chances to crit, however Fireball from the Fire APP gets a 100% Crit from Hide/Placate. -
Quote:He's on Recluse's territory, using Recluse's missle facilities, while Recluse has deployed a token force to try and "recapture" the island from him.
And this force constantly gets interference from Longbow, who can send more troops to Warburg because unlike Recluse they do not have a nation to secure back home.
The Fact that Recluse has troops to recapture the facilities shows that Blitz is independent from Arachnos. After all if Blitz was a part of Arachnos, Aarchnos troops wouldn't need to be in Warburg trying to recapture the facilities from Blitz now would they? -
Quote:he really wasn't, he made hard decisions, much like posi has had to, and was demonized by those who disagreed with them, but overall he was about standard.
Part of the problem with some of Jacks decisions is the explanation given for them. Me and my friends always joked about Jacks Dual wielded nerfbats "The Vision" and "Balance" and Jack tended to be a bit heavy handed with "Vision" and rarely bothered with "Balance". Then Jack goes and makes changes with Balance in mind and hits way too hard. GDN+ED
And While I agree ED was necessary for the game to grow at the time I thought with GDN already done that it was a bit much, especially considering we were told that such major changes to powers wouldn't be coming again anytime soon. Cause ED was an enhancement change and not a powers one hur dur. While technically true it wasn't presented well.
Overall I think after Jack left the Devs have been better about explaining major changes, and overall the community is very appreciative of that. -

The only thing I'll regret when it goes live is that rare out-of-hide A.Strike that ended up critting, causing a out-of-hide Assassin's Strike bonus as a result. But x2 damage is still good nevertheless.
Well depending on how it works mechanically it may still be possible to get those rare cases, I'm thinking of the especially Rare Double AS crit which might actually happen more often now.
Probably not but we'll see. -
-
I suspect it'll be in the next set of proliferations. Possibly I22 or 22.5 if there is one. If not then I23 seems just as likely.

Also the Driller Badge in Port Oakes
"Three years ago, Ms. Liberty smashed the supervillain Thermonuke through the deck and into the volatile crude below. Thermonuke's devastating powers ignited the oil and cracked open the Cairo Queen like a pixie stick."
So 3 Years later the wreckage is still there, there's still oil in the water and, although she defeated(killed?) the villain she hasn't bothered to clean up the mess she made. -

Quote:Things I wonder about while I play...
* If CoH Civillians are immune to falling damage... why are there railings?
Because everyone else isn't immune to Falling Damage
* Does the Paragon American Kennel Club ONLY recognize German Shepherds as an official breed?
Since when does Paragon City have a kennel club?
* Do Praetorian characters only go up to 20th level because the Enriche Corporate office refuses to allow beverage competition from the Well of the
Furies?
Didn't you know that Enriche is actually bottled well water?Just look at the Civilians in TPN.
* If Statesman is going to die... can I have all his stuff?
No.
* Why does he live on an island filled with sychophants, toadies and hangers-on... yet still call himself Recluse?
Answered above, he's named for the spider
* If there are NO heroes around to save them why do the civillians in the Rogue Isles seem LESS fearful of villains than their Paragon counterparts?
Cause the Rogue Isles are actually a safer place to live than Paragon, why else would Longbow be so interested in it?
* If the news guy in front of the train station was just going to yell out to everyone passing about the possibilities of time travel... then why did they Entrust him with the Secret?
no idea
* Why does Percy Winkley have a poster of Darrin Wade over his bed?
cause he has a bromance with Wade
* Shouldn't anyone with the Time Manipulation power set get Entrusted with the Secret automatically?
technically time manipulation isn't time traveling
* If you get Time Manipulation does that mean you can help me get my Blu-Ray player to stop flashing and tell the correct time?
Sorry but that's impossible to do
* After an entire play session of keeping an eye on it... just exactly why DO they call it the Help Channel?
it helps people communicate with each other
* Why does the Paragon Municipal government use the Free Farm system? Wouldn't food stamps have been easier? And... judging by the number of people I see begging for it... is the Free Farm system capable of feeding everyone who needs it?
Probably, after all it does generate nearly infinite resources
* Since they're just over-enthusiastic LARPers anyway... What would happen if you yelled "Critical Fumble!" just as a Warrior began his swing?
He'd get a crtitcal hit, all the laws of gaming support this.
* Where do Freakshow shove the batteries that keep their suits running?
Between their shoulder blades
* Why do you have to hit Sally TWICE before you believe?
The first time was a Fluke
* So now Sister Psyche has a voice in her head that constantly tries to usurp her control, get her in trouble and generally ruin her life... and this is different from most women... how?
Good question.
* If Fusionette and Percy Winkley ever had a kid... would anyone ever be able to find it? And if they COULD find it... would it be an honorary MAGI vault guard since birth?
That would be impossible with the Vault having been destroyed.
I put my responses in bold. -
Quote:Whats up with Ice Mistral Strike Force like every other week...
Well let's see what other SF's are there for that level range?
ITF which is 35-50
Mortimer Kal which is 20-40
Ice Mistral which is 35-40
Treespec 34-44
So any time they want to do the 35-40 range they only have the 4 choices
Hero Side has a bit more for the range
ITF 35-50
Admiral Sutter 20-40
Numina 35-40
Terra Volta 34-44
Eden Trial 39-41
Abandoned Sewer 38-40
Although I don't think the Abandoned Sewer has ever been used as a WST
So Ice Mistral constantly showing up is a result of a long standing Redside complaint of not having enough SF/Trials available for certain level ranges. -
Geez Redside needs new SF's badly.
Looking over the list Ice Mistral comes up 4 times in 2 months.
Isn't that kind of ridiculous? -
Ok,so I have a friend trying the game and I want him to stick around.
He went ahead and made a Mind/Thermal Controller and I'm wondering what can compliment his character without overshadowing it. This is going to be on Hero side so SoAs are out and I have an aversion to Tankers. Any ideas?
Also I want to avoid TW, StJ and Beam Gun as I don't have the sets and I'm not ready to buy any of em. -
Yes it does Sam, it still counts.
And a thought just occurred to me, with Malaise being dead(and removed from game content I would hope) there is no story/lore/uniqueness reasons preventing the much requested Dark illusions for Dominators -
Yeah I don't see why it's necessary to change the Stalker Base Damage in your suggestion.
The HP increase is so sets like WP/Regen/IA and any other sets that might have a +HP power can actually get full use of the powers in them and I see no reason to deny those sets that ability.
While your AS idea sounds good there would still be problems actually landing one although with the proposed defense buffs there would be less chances of getting interrupted, interruption is still very likely to happen especially in a teamed situation where the enemy mobs throw out dot fields. -
-
Well seeing how they need to add lines for Assassins Focus to every Power already, since they're gonna be in there why not add the lines for Fiery Embrace?
-
So it seems my impression is outdated and significant changes have been made that I've overlooked. Probably from the various adjustments in the leveling curve. I'll have to level a new villain and see the differences.
-
And this avoided the RWZ and Cimerora? Did this include the Patron arcs?
Granted I haven't leveled a new villain in a while so things may be different now. But when I was leveling him there wasn't enough content to get from 35-40 without extensive use of papers and repeat runs of Ice Mistral -
Quote:Except that due to the Sf gaps on Villain Side and a general lack of story content from 35-40 on Villain Side, the only advancement opportunities I have are by doing co-op content that completely ignores the fact that I'm not playing as a Hero.No one has a gun (figuratively) to villain's head forcing him to save the world. If your villain doesn't want to save the world, don't. You're a villain, it's what you do.
Go beat up grannies for their purses or whatever it is you do.
Heroes can't wipe out the villains so it's only fair that villains can't take over the world.
Yes I could run paper missions but that gets boring and some of the more interesting encounters occur in Story Arcs and Task/Strike Forces.
Obviously some level of Status quo needs to be maintained, but this SSA is intended to change the Status Quo. Because of that the villains are going to score a victory for once. -
Quote:As I recall Posi was said to have used the plural "Persons", and the question asked at the time was about getting Powerslide released as a vet reward. The impression I got was that those responsible for the veto outrank the dev team in the company ladder.
If I remember it right the general stance is that Paid extras will never be given away for free. So as a Vet reward it wouldn't be viable. However now that there is a Market it should be worth revisiting. -
Quote:
Once the changes enter beta, they'll be tested to see if they *work* not if they are desirable. You'll have your damage, your ST DPS crown yet be nothing other than Scrappers (not a loss if you didn't give a crap about the people that like how Stalkers play now).
That's not entirely true. Look at Elec Melee. When that was in beta it had Thunderclap. As the set was tested in Beta everyone agreed that Thunderclap was stupid on Stalkers and the Devs changed it to how Elec Melee is now. -
Except it was never exclusive to the DvD version, what with the Hero Pack that came with a code for it as well as some other goodies.
Honestly I'm surprised t his hasn't been made available in the Market yet, and fully support making it available.
