  1. Attention Heroes!!

Our new Global chat feature will be going to the Live servers soon and we want to give you the opportunity to reserve your global chat handle!

    What is Global chat?

Global chat is an in-game cross-server chat system and friends list.

What is a Global chat Handle?

Every player selects a name which they are universally known by; this "handle" is what they can be referred to regardless of what character they happen to be playing at the moment or what server they are on.

How do I reserve my global chat handle?

Just change your message board name to the name you wish to reserve for global chat now. You will need to leave your message board name changed until Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 11:00 am CST. After this time, changing your board name will no longer affect your global chat handle.

How do I change my message board name?

    Click on "My Home."

From this page, under main configuration, choose Edit from the Personal information section. The first option to edit should be your display name.

What happens if I do not have a Message Board name?

If you do not have a message board name, your global chat handle will be the name of the character you log in with for the first time after global chat goes live. If that name has already been taken, a number will be added to the end to make it unique. Everyone can change their global chat handle one time after global chat goes live.

Here’s your chance to ask the “Big Guy” himself! 4. There’s no question that Paragon City is a dangerous place—a battleground where heroes unselfishly man the thin, embattled line between good and evil. It’s a never-ending fight full of danger and sacrifice, one that requires all heroes to seek new ways to improve their skills. In the Arena, heroes will be able to test themselves against other defenders of Paragon City and gain the recognition of their peers as the best of the best. Do you have the heart, the skill, and the determination it takes to achieve the status of ultimate hero? For a preview of the upcoming Expansion Issue 4 “Colosseum,” please visit our Features Update page.
  5. We are happy to announce that we have updated the PlayNC account website in order to better serve our new European customers. You can now choose to view the website in English, German or French. Thank you, danke, merci!
  6. We have recieved information that you should now be able to log in to all servers.

If you are having problems connecting to the updater, please see this post from Case, Super-Tech:

    Server Issues

We are experiencing network issues at this time and servers may be up and down for a bit. I don't have an ETA, but I will let you know when we know more.
  8. Thread....
    Must....
    Die....

    ***Thunderous Blast***

    There.
  9. We will be conducting some necessary network maintenance on Wednesday, January 26, from 10:45PM to 11:00PM CST and Thursday, January 27, from 12:45AM to 1:00AM CST. Customers may experience disconnects or lag when accessing game servers. Please reconnect after the maintenance periods have ended. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!
  10. Ok - here we go.

We got way too many entries to post them all - as I said before. If you want to show your wallpaper off, post it here.

If your entry had not been received you would have gotten an email bounce-back saying it did not go through.

We had a few people ask for a confirmation and all of those who sent in a request for verification were responded to. As in all contests, the responsibility is on the part of the participant to ensure their entry arrived.

The second entry complied with all the rules.

A badge? No. ALL contest rules, stipulations, and prizes have to be announced when the contest is announced due to the laws governing contests. So we cannot decided to hand out a badge now.

    [ QUOTE ]
True art is subjective and the judges may feel that these are the best.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed we do.

Finally, go ahead and state your thought, but then leave it at that. The flinging of the jello is not needed.
  11. Sorry about that - I edited it. It should say "some" of the contest entries.

We had too many entries to post all of them.
  12. Thanks to the hundreds of you who made the City of Heroes Wallpaper contest such a grand success! The votes are in and we have selected the winners and runner-ups. As always, when dealing with such an outpouring of creativity and talent, the judges were not handed an easy task. 1st Place Winner – Veikira (Gloucester, Virginia)

2nd Place Winner – CrimsonHelix (Kitchener, Ontario)

3rd Place Winner – Amanda Martin (Palestine, Texas)

    Runners-Up:

    ***Original Message Below***

We will be conducting some necessary network maintenance on Wednesday, January 26, between the hours of 11:00AM and 11:45AM CST. 15. “Last week, we gave you Part One of a two-part JIVE Exclusive. We polled our fellow players and posted a call for questions on the official City of Heroes boards. If you could ask anything of the mighty Statesman, what would it be?”

Read Part Two of this exclusive Q&A here.
  16. You may have noticed a few threads that have been removed about "pigg viewer software." Also, threads containing screenshots of content not featured in the game that have been viewed using pigg viewer software have also been removed.

The legal department for CoH has informed me that this software and the use of this software violates the CoH EULA.

    [ QUOTE ]

    You may not (a) sublicense, rent, lease, loan or otherwise transfer the Software for profit; (b) modify, adapt, reverse engineer or decompile the Software, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the Software; (c) create any derivative works in respect of the Software or the Service;

This is just an FYI as to why these posts were removed and a notice that posts of this nature will be removed in the future.
  17. Our first wallpaper contest has come to a very successful conclusion with hundreds of amazing and creative entries. We want to give out a BIG thank you to all who shared their heroic designs. It can’t be said enough—the CoH community rocks creatively! Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to post all the great entries we’ve received, so we’ve put up on our gallery the last installment of what we think is an excellent representation of the contest’s varied and talented submissions. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, January 25. Good luck!
  18. We will be conducting some necessary network maintenance on Monday, January 24, from 11:00AM to 11:30AM CST. During this time frame, customers will not be able to access game servers or the website. Please reconnect after the maintenance period has ended. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!
  19. In a JIVE exclusive, CoH Lead Designer and Creative Director Jack Emmert steps aside and lets his super-powered alter-ego speak…

“’People call me Statesman when they meet me, like it's my first name or something, but that's cool.’

Cool, eh? Well, when we had another opportunity to question our friend Jack, we decided to let the hero take center stage in a feature we're calling: Letters to Statesman!”

You can read part 1 here. Stay tuned for part 2 next week. Enjoy!
