The problem with cancer is how it lingers for years and years and costs so much to treat. Sure, many heroic apprehension methods can cause serious physical injuries, but those are immediate things. At most a couple months in the prison hospital and a good deal of physical therapy and these people can get on with some semblance of a life. But cancer...there's often no going back after that.
(I beg forgiveness from those inflicted real life if I'm presuming too much. I haven't had to deal with this insideous disease with anybody close to me (thank goodnes, knock on wood), so I can't imagine how this thread might be viewed)
