The supplied serial code is valid, but it can not be used to create a new account and it can not be applied to any accounts you already have."

They are on an old trial account and really want to sub to the game but they want to take advantage of the free Paragon Points to get a couple of goodies.

My friend is getting more that just a little upset about this. They sent in a ticket about this to support, but that was almost a week ago and they haven't heard anything back. It's not instilling any kind of confidence in the game with them.

I admit I want MY free points too, or I wouldn't have sent off the code. But if it hasn't started yet, that might just explain things.

I just wonder why codes can be sent out if it isn't active yet. Some clarification would be nice.

If the Refer a Friend program hasn't actually started yet, I think they should remove the link from the main page and not allow codes to be sent until the program is actually active.
I completely agree, I myself just sent a friend an invitation via Refer a friend inside the account management and he's having the same thing. It's not letting him use the code and I think he even purchased VIP. I mean seriously what happened to this so called VIP support we're supposed to get. I myself have even submitted a support ticket about it and haven't even so much as gotten a response...that was 2 days ago. So the so called VIP support is more like joke support as its just like it was before horrid. If you want people to pay for this game then I suggest stepping up the support for it ALOT. People want reassurance that if they have issues that it will be resolved not a stupid automated message that just says we received your message or one that says I'm forwarding your request to a senior developer (who most likely will never even respond). I admit I did have an issue with a costume piece recently and although it took forever to get a response you did end up fixing the issue. With that being said I suggest if your not ignoring peoples concerns then I suggest you at least respond to them everyday that the ticket is still open and give them a little update on whats being done to help them.

The game isn't everything NCsoft, without proper support and status updates on those support issues you will find yourself with alot of pissed off players both free and VIP. And yes I would also like my 500points for referring a player who became VIP but what irritates me even more is the blatant incompetence of your support staff to help my friend and myself. He who is new and if you don't already know this the image of a company that's providing the game is key to a new player else they will just leave. And then there's myself and I've been here with you all since 2004 and yet its the same thing come on NCsoft get your s*** together and either fire your support staff or make them work.

And just to clarify with a little recap I am not trolling in any way I'm just speaking on behalf of myself (concerned Veteran VIP) and my friend (New player recently became VIP) both of which are really irritated by this. I will actually call support later today and see if I cang et this resolved if so then I will retract some of my statements and clarify that if you want support you should call. Again my apologies to those who find this offensive.

*Edit as of a recent reply via email: If NCsoft will not handle their matters with the dignity and honor as a company should I will be forced to retaliate via all means at my disposal either by using my host, admin privs on several top mmo community sites, underground knowledge or otherwise.

The U.S. is behind a lot of other developed nations in this respect.
It not a hoax it is filed under several names Internet Privacy Act, Data Privacy Act, and Consumer Internet Privacy Protection Act. It was signed and passed in 1997. You really need to learn to do research before you claim something is a hoax.
  4. I can understand the whole bot and other exploits concern, however no company or individual can force you to allow them access into your system which from what I've read so far is exactly what the EULA is stating *And yes in print its liable and legally unjust as the law takes printed litigation word for word* This can never be enforced and any and every lawsuit made by NCSoft on these grounds would fail simply due to the Internet Privacy Act which was signed and passed by Former US President Bill Clinton. The privacy act clearly states that no company or individual has the right to enter your computer system without express permission from the system owner. Any attempt to do so without written, signed, and dated consent is a violation of this law. So NCSoft purely putting it into a EULA is unenforceable and may actually result in several litigation's being filed against the company. (Not saying it will but that it could)

The only actual legal way for them to do what they are trying to do is from their end and must be done on the server.

I suggest everyone here read up on the Internet Privacy Act you might learn a thing or two.

Again I'm not discrediting NCSoft for wanting to stop exploits and other hacks, I am merely stating that they cannot force you to give them access to your system just because you play their game and as I said before any litigation the company might file against a individual would not hold up in any court.
