  1. I haven't posted on the forums for a while (the joys of real life!) but thought I would share with you a Comrade Hero piece I commissioned by the talented Anthony Scroggins.

The hardest part was finding the correct details and information about the Moscow Police.

Really pleased with how this turned out. A direct homage to RoboCop.

Next project is a sculpture of Comrade Hero. Graver is working on the character template and fellow New Zealand artist Shannon Brocas will be doing the sculpture.

  2. Congratulations on the promotion! Well deserved
  3. Virtue... Virtue... Virtue...

Will have to look into this after the New Year, oh yes indeed.

    Kia ora Avatea!

Greetings and salutations from a rather crisp day here in Taupo

  5. Spasiba glorious Niviene!

Comrade Hero is now no longer slave to capitalist underscore in name.

  6. Kia ora and G'day from Aotearoa/New Zealand!

    @Comrade Hero
You'll find me on Protector or Pinnacle Servers.
Just received my 63 month Veteran Badge, but don't patrol the skies of Paragon City as much as I'd like to anymore.

I started doing portraits from photo references like these(example1,example2) in the hopes of improving the quality of my less polished works. I figured I'd do one with a CoH character, so here is

    War Bride for Comrade Hero.

Very nice and completely unanticipated. Thanks
  8. Just clarifying what my esteemed colleague VexXxa is asking of the esteemed artistic community.

There are many Heroes in Paragon City that have come from all corners of the globe to fight the good fight.

The City Scoop is looking for Memorial Day art that illustrates this spirit of international cooperation and friendship.

Comrade Hero is a Russian hero, and Graviton Girl is an American themed hero. For example, East vs. West illustrates this clearly.

Hope that clarifies things, and thanks for the notes and messages. I don't have the H1N1 Flu, just a Chest Infection that's taking weeks to clear up!
  9. I blame the excesses of capitalist imperialism!

But seriously, locking the thread may or may not be for the best. As pointed out anyone can start another thread. However, if the thread devolves into personal attacks then sure, lock it down as per the Forum Guidelines rules.

I understand folks need to vent. I guess I'm just concerned this thread draws too much negative attention. Yes, there are lessons to be learned here by all sides. I just don't want a bad apple spoiling the whole bunch. I really like this section of the forums, both for oogling art as resource for contacting artists.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think this one thread will destroy the Forum. The lessons and concerns are all equally valid, and the great thing about the people here on this Forum is that we don't rant and rave in every thread

^^ yours is the most recent works posted - feb 18th.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My piece was posted just before those ones so it was finished before.

I'm not sure why they would ship his and not mine or at least reply to my emails. It's weird...

I could see them not shipping it if they think I didn't pay. (which I did, I have a receipt from Paypal) At least if it was a misunderstanding like that I would understand but to not get a reply to any of my emails asking when it will be shipped is disturbing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just to clarify. I didn't ask for a physical copy as I'm in New Zealand. Sending stuff around the world like that costs a little extra. I tend to get a digital version emailed to me as standard.

    Sorry for any confusion.

I waited a couple of years for my Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl piece, but I realize not everyone is that patient.

Still waiting for two out of pieces from Ryan Stegman, but considering he got picked up by Marvel and is working on Hulk (and has done Grimm Fairy Tales) I'm going to wait patiently (and expectantly) for those as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have you received your art yet? I know Gill posted those pieces right after doing mine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I did receive them over a month or so ago, but given my njuries and rehabilitation since last year, posting art hasn't been high on my priorities unfortunately.

    What does "duddiest" actually mean?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Perhaps he means Dude?

As your officially ordained Minister of the Church of the Latter-Day Dude, I refer you to our official site of Dudeism where the glorious mysteries of the Dude shall be revealed! (well maybe...)

  15. Well worth the wait, and I'm more than pleased with how this turned out. Thanks so much.
  16. Belated best wishes for your Birthday
  17. Spasiba.

I'm waiting to see how this turns out as well. Gill must be taking time out with the family as I haven't been able to touch base with him since the beginning of January.

Still nice to see the sketch of Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl is coming along
  18. Comrade Hero

    Merry Xmas COH!

Nga mihi o te Kirihimete me TeTau Hou!

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all from one of Aotearoa's native sons.

Comrade Hero is still around, just his computer being a refusnik for past couple of months!
  19. Agreed, cost is not always a guarantee of quality. There are some great artists out there of course whose expertise is worthy of the price they command, but with a little determination and patience you can find artists who do great pieces on a more modest budget.

Keep an eye out for sales, specials and other promotions - from now until after the New Year you'll find that quite a few will start popping up as artists gather money for the Holiday Season.

If you also find an artist whose style you like, but there's no indication if they accept FanArt commissions, drop them a line. At worst they will ignore you or so no - but you might find that they'll be prepared to do something for you.
  20. Comrade Hero

    Red October!

Well I don't print out most of the commissions, just a few

    And no submarine yet!

    Hehe, da she is pretty!
