See? I'm still here!

Who says the BRB can't be soaked in jet pack juice?
Hm? Oh. The fire marshal has some concerns about that part. -
I think my post on May 8th:

Issue 8: The Gamester Returns: This time it's a personal red ball!
[/ QUOTE ]
...puts me at the top of the list linking BRB and Gamester, for what that's worth. (About .001mm on the e-peen) -
[ QUOTE ]
Its not illogical at all. I don't see how this could be included into the game without breaking the game immersion. And that's even before we start talking about lag.
[/ QUOTE ]
It could be done as a periodic Gamester symptom every couple of months. Sometimes the Big Red Ball is the only indication that the Gamester is out and about, and sometimes the Big Red Ball would be only the beginning of his mischief.
Look at me. I don't even get paid to figure this [censored] out. -

Skills - Not coming. Ever. They tried 9 different systems and couldn't find a fun one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm reeeeeally curious as to what each of the 9 different actual systems were. And why did they think every one of them wasn't "fun." I wish they would tell us somehow, because they may end up being pleasantly surprised how much "fun" some of those options may actually be to the players' point of view.
[/ QUOTE ]
If the staff couldn't find a way to be interested in the various 'Skills' systems or make them workable, you probably wouldn't want to play with what they tossed out there. It sounds like they pillaged the best elements of the various systems and found a way to use them. It's probably for the best. As consumers, we're better suited to offer feedback on direction, and not so much on the destination until a feature is ready to be fine-tuned.
I think you can second-guess a creative person's priorities, but it's really hard to convince a creative person to reconsider something that they've judged to be a dead end. It's highly unlikely that you can twist someone's arm to spin gold from straw. Things like badges and other things that were on the bubble originally, unless there was someone at Cryptic that really had the desire for them and a bright vision for them, they wouldn't have happened. 'Skills', evidently, never clicked. Instead, we have Accolade powers, base crafting tables, and the upcoming Invention system - all rewards and activities that run just outside the normal run-and-gun mission-oriented gaming. -

I am so diasappointed about this, its not even funny.

As we get older, we learn the art of letting go. Skills got shelved last summer. No more tears, E_C. No more tears. -

Universities - They will be doing something with them in Issue 8.
[/ QUOTE ]Interesting.....considering no skills.....
[/ QUOTE ]
Too busy for Search-Fu right now, but somebody at Cryptic mentioned months back that something between the base crafting tables and the original vision for Skills is in the works via the Universities. -

Also, you can only get the badge by doing the missions yourself. joining someone else for them will not award it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hallelujah. Now if only they will fix up most of the other mission badges like that, I'll be happy.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're a harsh man, LiquidX. -
[ QUOTE ]
For those who didn't know and are OCD about badges, there will be exactly ONE (1) Infected in Recluse's Victory that spawns every two hours. Kill him 100 times to get that Isolator badge you missed in Outbreak. Posi said it would be annoyingly hard, after all, so you asked for it

no when i say purple patch i mean in general your attacks are less effective against an enemy as their level gets higher than yours
btw yes they are purple since they're +4
but i saw some turrets a week or 2 ago that were lvl 50...did they change all of them to be 54, or are some 50 and some 54, or what?
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe the neutral turrets in RV, if not all turrets, were boosted in the last patch on May 10th. I haven't been in RV since the change to see it for myself and the patch notes do not reflect this, but a red name has commented on it.
Also, the 'Purple Patch' has to do with the scaling changes to the to-hit and damage tables that was added in the Summer of 2004, for those of you who don't know. It doesn't have much at all to do with the game code concerning the specific rules of Giant Monsters, other than the Giant Monster code builds on the 'Purple Patch' changes for special class of mob. Prior to the 'Purple Patch', it was possible with buffs to trounce 'deep purples' - mobs up to +8 to you - and now players' effectiveness drops off dramatically after +4 or +5. -

I would like to see the Big Red Ball have more cow bell
[/ QUOTE ]
We need cowbell to play when we use Rest. -
[ QUOTE ]
To elaborate on my thinking about how cool RV is a little; one of the things that I think is possible with this zone is to actually let the high powered PvP guilds and the more solo and pick-up PvP types actually work together to achieve zone objectives.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. Bloody Bay was tantalizingly close to a good large scale PvP environment. RV really does set a good stage for platoon v. platoon action - even PuG platoons. -
At the end of a week, unsuspecting youth crave to Support Big Red Balls in their sigs.
At the end of a month, the world will be begging for Big Red Balls! The bouncier the better! -
That's what confused me when it came up earlier.

Now that's playtesting.

Yep, well once the children that Drone teleport for 2 hours straight leave the zone it actually becomes fun..

There's an easy way around this, of course: Stay away from the opposing base.

Sensible people keep saying this and the sublime ease of the solution still makes me chuckle. -

I feel like I've read this interview before.

I thought it was just me...

That's because you're true forum warriors. Somebody linked to that interview a month ago when it was first published. -

The wording could've been a little better to draw people in...

But it wouldn't have made me chuckle occasionally.
I bet even my mother would support Big Red Balls, given the chance. -

She's in Croatoa, and an alternate-universe version (apparently) is in D5.

i keep hearin stuff like D5, T5, etc...what does that stuff mean?
[/ QUOTE ]
I like to think I'm pretty up on things, and I don't know what D5 means in relation to Pocket-D.
Is that another grey hair popping out?!? Eff! -
I believe she's still around. She's rarely been the chattiest red name in this forum.

IMO the base camping is complete garbage and speaks very lowly of those particular players. That being said, you can't say they aren't testing. Remember CoV beta when stalkers could camp in the hospital? Drones were quickly placed. I would assume something will be done to help with RV base camping to an extent.
By being raging [censored] they are helping to point out a glaring problem before it hits live.

Good point. I haven't logged in today, but Archon_Voss mentioned that the flying MUs are doing more overwatch for the villain entrance corridor now. I haven't logged in today to see how much a difference it makes, but it sounds like a very good thing.

falseprophet,
Here's a way to have that link in your signature and not have it break the horizontal on many people's browser window, causing them to have to scroll back and forth to read a thread you've posted in:
Support Big Red Balls
You can hit the reply button and copy/paste the UBB code within this post.

We are currently reviewing either a timer or a refresh of the Heavies during the temporal reversion. In the mean time, thanks for all the great feedback and keep testing!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for taking a look at that. It'll probably not be a huge thing long-term on the Live servers, but I think it'll keep things fresher if the Heavies have a term limit other than the pet owner falling in battle. -
[ QUOTE ]
Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of the dozens and dozens of hero's that camp the villians base. They have been doing this since I7 has hit Test and I'm really, really tired of it.They aren't giving the villians ANY chance to leave their base saying such stupid things as "We're testing out camping" and other stupid crud.
...
I know that over 80% of the people who play this game are probably the most arrogant people you will ever see, but for god sakes I beg of you, please, please, please let the villians out of their base at least and stop camping like a bunch of wussies with a shallow feeling of superiority.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know that many of those Heroes are people who have access to CoV, and that likely a good chunk of them have level 40 Villains, right? So you can blame Heroes all you want, but it's really just "players in general". "Players in general" are somehow not testing the way you'd rather.
