Welcome TV! I always have you on while I visit Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
Can you do me a favor and bring back "Cop Rock?" -
The EndGame content will be an instanced zone that is accessible from Pocket D. There will be a HUGE net across the zone... and a Big Red Ball. That's it. Hours of fun.
WW... I want a badge for creating and selling 10 purple enhancements called "Dupin Rares." -
Congrats to those who have gotten promotions, especially since I have been able to meet some of you at Hero Con
My only worry is that with WW's move, who's going to write the fun npc dialogs and leave us great easter eggs? I hope they've found someone as cool as WW to do that! -

Quick update on this issue for me...
The game has not froze since I started playing in Windowed Mode. I also believe I discovered a fix for my Ventrillo problem. I had my usb headset/microphone plugged into a USB hub. Said hub was plugged into a standard USB port. I unplugged the headset and plugged it into a high speed USB port. Since I have done that, I have not heard the "found new usb peripheral" tone or had Ventrillo drop out.
I would try switching CoH back to full screen, but in Windows 7, if I do that, I can't get Hero Stats to stay on top of my CoH screen. So, I will continue to play in windowed mode.
Life is good. Now if I could only find a job -
Because it's EEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL!!!! It invades your house and never leaves... It doesn't know how to take a hint... It breaks everything it touches... It's voice gives you migraines... It's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL!

The only thing that's stopped is the game freeze for me.. and I accomplished that by playing in Windows mode.
Everytime I hit on something that seems to work, the next time I play, the issue comes back again. I am now getting the "found new device" sound outside of the game. Vent keeps dropping.. sometimes not for 3 hours and then sometimes 5 times in 20 minutes. -
Okay.. so it seems both problems have been avoided.
Playing in windowed mode has stopped the issue with losing the focus of the game.
As for Ventrilo, I found they have a 64 bit version. I downloaded that and have been using it with extremely better experiences. In 2 days of playing 3+ hour sessions, I lost the microphone on vent once. -
Quote:Thanks for that link.. it does explain a lot. I think my issue was due to the fact that I jumped from DO's to SO's immediately at 22 because I had the inf to do so. Back when I started the game 5 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to do that. IO's at level 25 would have been more powerful than the equivilant DO that I could have afforded.http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Inventio...cement_Scaling
There is a clear mathematical progression of all of the levels.
You will barely notice the difference in practice (They lie between a white SO and a -1 yellow SO) -
This may have been asked already, but I couldn't find it.
Has there ever been given a reason why Level 25 inventions are less powerful than the corresponding Level 25 SO's? -
That was one of the things I hated about Guild Wars... no one would team to help you out in a mission unless you paid them.. I thought "screw that!"
-
While yes, they have been removed, I think those missions were only done to introduce villain only players to the hero side and hero only to villain side. That winter event was 2 months after the release of CoV.

Quote:I'm using a Logitech wireless keyboard, and was using a wireless mouse with it until recently (didn't switch due to problems, i just wanted one with more buttons ^.^). What brand are you using? Do you have any software installed for them? Has the keyboard been cleaned lately?
Also, regarding Vent and your mic/speakers, Win 7 seems to handle those a little differently than XP did (not sure about Vista). Is your mic part of a headset, or stand alone? Try going to your control panel>Sound and checking the settings. Make sure your mic (or the card it's plugged into) is the default recording device, and the card your speakers are plugged into is the default playback device (and if you're using a USB headset, the headset should be the default communication device). There are also some setting in Vent that can affect both (I had a heck of a time setting up Vent under Win 7 the first time around).
I was using a Logitech Wireless keyboard and mouse combo. I switched to a wUSB keyboard and mouse and have not had any issues. I've also been playing in windowed mode because it's the only way I can get Herostats to work with the game and windows 7.
I am no longer getting the peripheral connection system sound. I lost vent once, but I don't know if it was a real problem or not. (I'll check your suggestions on my speaker/mic settings.. it's a headset w/mic) -
Quote:I tried disabling Trend Micro... Playing the game in windowed mode, I didn't notice any window lock up, but I was still having the same issue with ventrillo where I lose the microphone (usually) or microphone and speakers. You could try temporarily disabling your AV...like I said up thread a bit, it looks like there may be multiple programs that are having the same general effect at the moment. I'm leaning towards programs with active file scanners, like AV programs, not interacting properly with recent Windows updates *shrugs* it's all guess work at this point, but one thing seems pretty clear. It's not CoH doing it, and it's not Windows itself doing it.
I need to try it again in full screen mode and see if the window locks up. I DO, however, notice my system making a "system sound" but nothing happens. It's the same sound I get when I plug in a plug and play accessory (printer, headset, iphone, etc.)
Is anyone else using a wireless mouse and/or keyboard? -
Quote:We will be conducting a Winter Event Test on the North American Training Room on Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 starting at 4PM Pacific Time (7PM Eastern Time) until 8PM Pacific Time (11PM Eastern Time).
Given the times, it will unfortunately only be possible to make this event test available on the North American Training room. We apologise for the inconvenience.
As with the previous Winter Event tests, there will be a Global Chat channel called Winter 2009 to facilitate communication between all participants.
Please make use of this thread to leave your feedback and bug reports corresponding to the 2009 Winter Event test.
Is it possible to twitter announcement like this? I hadn't been to the boards in a couple of days and I missed this. I would have been available to test if I had known. -

Found out Friday that AVG seems to have a wonky interaction with the game. Even with Gaming Mode disabled, the problem started to occur. But when I turned Gaming Mode back on, the problem ceased, again.
I might try Avast! or another AV solution to be sure, but if you're having this same issue, I strongly encourage you to contact Support. The more eyes that are on the problem, the better. Mine is just an isolated case without more cases being reported.
I don't have AVG. I did notice that playing in Window mode seemed to lessen the amount of game glitches. Infact, last night, I played for about 3 hours with any issues, including having Ventrillo open and running.
I do have Trend Micro as my virus checker... -

Question for people that had the problem exiting Lord Winters realm and arriving outside the map:
- Was it Heroes only, or did any Villains experience it?
- Did you exit by clicking on the portal, or did you wait for the timeout to kick you from the zone?
- Did you just enter the first instance and stay there, enter the second and stay there, or enter the first and then transfer to the second?
- There was a short period when entry to the second did not work at the white present. Did you try and enter the second zone during this period and fail?
I had the issue where I exited to Atlas Park (after entering from Steel Canyon)... which was the same zone you had exited into. (This was after the first LW fight of the testing). I think it may have been "your fault" that I exited to AP. (Not intentional)
I was in the first LW instance. We defeated him and I exited the realm back to Steel. At that point, you teleported me into the second instance from Steel. After that defeat I waited for the realm to time out and I was booted back to AP which is where you were. So, maybe your teleportation of me confused the game into thinking I teleported from where you were?
If that's the case, then it probably isn't something to worry about because only Devs could relocate a player into a realm/mission. -
Quote:I have an nVidia card as well, but this is a laptop, so no SoundBlaster apps here.
I did have a logitech driver that was looking for video phone calls and I know I disabled that. I have HeroStats, but since the upgrade to Windows 7, I don't run it because it doesn't work in the "on top of the game" mode anymore.
Here's a list of some of the things I disabled on 11/14 when it seems to have stopped:
Services:
Google updater service
Google software updater
lxde_device - (a Lexmark Printer Service)
PNRP Machine Name Publication
Steam Client Service
Remote Desktop Services
Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar
Start Up Programs:
Logitech Vid
lxdeamon (Lexmark Print Program)
lxdemon.exe (Lexmart Print Program)
Realtek Voice Manager
Well, last night, it started again.. pretty badly.. about every 5 minutes I was having to right click the screen to get the focus back.. I hadn't changed anything in my services or start up.. I'll have to see if something else is now causing it or if something restarted on it's own. -
Well, today, I played for about 3 hours and the game never locked up, unless I changed windows. However, after about an hour of playing, Ventrillo kept losing my microphone. Previously, that's always happened with a window flicker that would screw up CoX. I didn't get the window flicker.
When I did switch to vent, restart, and come back, I would have the CoX screen on my monitor, but it wasn't active and the game was running. I would have to click on the tab in the task bar to sync the game with the monitor/screen.
I can live with the vent issue for now, I am glad the game isn't freezing. But it does point at an OS issue (or something running and I am not quite sure if it's actually Ventrillo or not..) -
Except for being booted back to AP when the first event timed out, everything went well on my end.
I like the fact that it was an instanced co-op zone. I appreciate the marker on the map for the exit(s).
I didn't notice, because I didn't die, but is there debt when fighting the LW? If there is, maybe a reduction in debt would be more enticing for the squishier AT's? -
Quote:I have an nVidia card as well, but this is a laptop, so no SoundBlaster apps here. You should thank Support
I know how to run what they need me to run, sure, but they're the ones handing me the steps.
I just have to wonder what the commonality is. I doubt it could be a driver as the system runs fine when no non-MS services or startup tasks are running - meaning the driver interfaces between the OS and game probably aren't suspect. Could it be the nVidia apps, SoundBlaster apps, Google Chrome, AVG, or something else? Hrmmm, maybe I'll try to run the client on my Win Vista laptop tonight and see if I have the same issue there.

Quote:That's one thing I DID do on my own.. I disabled quite a few start up apps and it seems to have stabilized... Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what I shut off.. doh!Actually, I'm disinclined to believe it is a Windows problem at this point. At the recommendation of Support, I used MSConfig to disable all non-MS services and startup apps, and the client worked flawlessly. Still working with Support on this, so hopefully more details to come.
While playing on the test account, I did get the non-compatible with windows desktop message, but the game never froze. -
Thanks Obsidius.. I don't have the knowledge of the workings of Windows to troubleshoot with any efficiency.

Quote:Very true.. but hopefully someone else has come across this issue and has a solutionWell, CoX doesn't officially run on Vista or 7 yet. It does, usually, but until they actually UPDATE it to work officially we'll have all kinds of anomalies like this.
Since I didn't have this problem under Vista, I am confused...
