Coolness!
Yeah the Nemesis staff is a pain to draw but it's such an awesome weapon I shall never part with it! You did very well with it and I like the pose and the detail work too. Hey is there anyway you could darken it a bit? The scan seems a bit faded.
I love it though, thanks!
Yay Free Artz!... this must be what TA feels like... on a much much smaller scale though.

Oh and welcome to the Art Boards Scootertwo. -

Quote:Ahh you are correct.I just took a look at the message in IE6 as well and your are correct they are showing up with proper transparency. If I were to guess what's going on it's that there's a javascript trick that can be used to make PNG transparency show up correctly in IE6. I remember using it ages ago. That's why when you view it in IE6 you see the nasty non-transparent background and then when the page has fully loading it disappears, that's when the javascript kicks in and makes it transparent.
My pages load so fast on my gaming rig I never saw it but I fired up 3 instances of CoH to try and make it lag a little bit and for a brief instant I did see the white box background in IE6. It seems some programmers would agree with you that there are still many people using IE6 and older browsers and are using these java tricks to compensate for them.
Quote:No what he meant was how you got the PNG transparency to work in IE6 because IE6 and before doesn't support PNG tranparency. If you goto my homepage there's a PNG with transparency on the front page. I /don't/ use the javascript trick on that page so if you view it in IE6 the image of my Xbox Live avatar has an ugly grey background behind it.
I'm more of a hardware geek(I build custom computers for a living)/pen and paper artist than fancy software tricks/digital artist, though I do have some basic Photoshop skillz
P.S. Cool sig Lightslinger I love the look of flight... I sometimes just flip on CoH and fly around the city for a while and log off

Quote:Having two videocards doesn't necessarily mean you have an SLI setup. They would have to both be Nvidia cards both be of the same series and would need to be bridged and configured to work in SLI.[ QUOTE ]

jealous...want a second monitor myself...but I need a new desk and a second graphics card too >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you need a second graphics card? I'm only using one.
[/ QUOTE ]
could be mistaken, though I believe it would take stress off the main one...though my current one has random fits when it wants to make my screen black out >.> yay display driver problems!
[/ QUOTE ]
If you put in a second card, you end up with an SLI setup, which could make things worse. While I do use an 8800GT at home, my work computer is a Dell Latitude e5400 and that video card is pretty weak. (I think it's actually an onboard video card) I can still dual monitor at work though.
As for adding 2nd card being worse that depends on several variables but generally speaking you will get the best bang for your buck by going with the fastest single card you can afford at the time. Where multiple cards in SLI or Crossfire (if you use ATi instead of Nvidia) come in handy is gaming at ultra high resolutions like 2560x1600... see pic of my gaming rig above.

Here is mine currently... I guess the witches of Croatoa were feeling especially thankfull that day
It changes periodically and randomly chooses from my CoH screencaps, also I made a shortcut that hides the icons until I need to click something then they appear again.
Took an external pic of it cuz otherwise I would have to shrink the image waaay down from 2560x1600 on my 30' widescreen.
The other 4 monitors in my gaming room/pc workshop vary from time to time also but currently 3 of them have this...

HAHAH yes everyone should punish him by making art for Christopher Robin
... fixed that for ya -
Quote:Well at first I just wanted to have one, then it was "suggested" that the siggs be made smaller out of consideration. Then I saw your buttons, and tried variations on that, but I really liked Vivace's blended background. So I combined that with my City of Nuts character, and found a happy final... oh and then I had to center it. I only wish now I could make a 4 balloon linked one, but to do that would require some splicing and it would become too wide. I'd animate it, but then that would only annoy more people...
Yes I am a Gemini.
Very cool I like the end result
and it has 3 separate links in it (though they point to a similar place atm) and a clear background. Nice. -

Quote:You don't obviously I was just pointing out a few that did mananged to point out in their description things that made their submissions invalid. It doesn't mean they are out of the contest it just means their votes should have gone to people that did follow the theme for that month to keep it fair.Oh, i didn't know i had to also include a Bio with my drawing ...As i have no creative literature skills. not to mention how illiterate i am. I'm just here for the fun of it.
It makes Crestent's demand for a recount (he was joking though) kind of ironic...
Quote:(But who's to say that he wasn't a good guy transforming to a bad guy?).
Wow really?
If your kidding here you should use a smiley or something, but if your being snarky allow me to point out what you already know
Who's to say he isn't a hero???
Ummm how about you...
right in your caption
Not too many "good guy" stalkers running about hunh?
Quote:But if i knew it was going to be that kind of contest i don't think i would have wasted my time competing.
Equal. One vote like the rest of us bro.
Quote:What is all this talk about DQing ... I'm just happy to see some cool art and everyone can see it was withing theme (ish if you insist) ... and this is all for fun anyway ... I don't remember anyone offering 2.5 million to the winner.
True there is no money or influ at stake but you do get bragging rights, more exposure for your art (great if you take commissions) and the title of FArt Champion of 09 which, lets be honest is worth it right there.

Quote:[I]No offense to Enn Vee, who's been a terrific supporter, but I was referring to the wonderous, Gray Huntress.
...now I have to envy Grey Huntr....
Nope.
My pun doesn't work with Grey it has to be EnnVee for it to rhyme.
Sorry EnnVee theres no choice here, you will just simply have to buy 9 more commissions from LJ.
As for Grey... slipping past my pun undetected like that, very crafty... >.>

Quote:I.. I suppose you could be talking about someone else's sig banner, but if you mean mine, thank you! This totally made my day!
I really like yours as well Jessimae
Looks a bit odd though now that you have centered it... I think it looked better when it was in the left corner. -
Yeah these new forums are still giving me grief it keeps logging me off every minute or so when I use Firefox (but not IE for some reason) and there were no answers yet when i went to post but by the time my post made it through it was old news... >.>
Oh well if you are still looking for some to sketch feel free to try
Xllusya
Or...
Chloe Macomber

Chloe is a Darkness/Radiation Defender and Xllusya is a Illusion/Emapathy Controller (that usually has lightning on her body and coming out of her staff)

Quote:References would have to be sent before the work can be done... unless LJ is now a psychic/empathI'm very interested although I'm a little confused by the process. Sorry, this will be the first time I ever bought art so hope you don't mind the questions
My question is that if chosen, when exactly do I make the payment and afterward, when do I send the reference pictures?and i'm sure money in advance doesn't hurt either (but may not be required).
Just send everything and Bobby will tell ya if he needs anything else
-
Quote:References and payment sentI have read it Enn Vee,
Christopher! Awesome, I will add you to the list. I just got an offer of 10 by my favorite new patron... actually she's been my good luck charm since I've come back, so I can't wait to begin these.
Bahh it figures Ennvee would sneak in 10 commissions at the same time as my two... now I have to envy EnnVee.
Lol @ the avatar above mine Gyros pronounced in the Greek sounds like Heroes haha clever... I think it's funny that in the game there is a restaurant called City of Gyros too. -

Edit: D'oh beaten to it... Darn you Kheldarn!

Cool man I'll take two! I definately want one of Chloe Macomber my 50 dark/rad Defender and i'll have to look through my screenshots to see who else would make a good bust {or more
} shot.
By the way I love that shot of Savannah Nightwolf at the above link so here's hoping you get as inspired by my Heroes as I am.
Lick a Witch LOL! -
Left it wide open this month eh TA?

Juggertha himself.
He says it's him and not a villain that looks like him in his caption right under the image on DA.
Quote:Originally Posted by Thors_AssassinWho's to say the young woman isn't a villain turning into a hero?
He gives the backstory of how his she got her powers in the Artists Comments section under the pic on DA and confirms she is a spines/regen scrapper in reply to someone else's post... no mention of any villain.

Moving on then... what's up for August?

Quote:Thankyou Vivace for the more in depth explanation. I'll give it a try.Ahh...I start with a transparent background in Photoshop, and then type and manipulate the text/silhouette/whatever, from there. Test by adding a new layer, dump a dark color into it, shrug and be happy it works, and then delete the dark layer, save as PNG with 300 pixels per inch, and then upload to my photobucket.
Those are all meant for a light background (especially the Junglesnow one), but that's what I do.
-
Quote:Thanks Bobby/LJ I'll give it a whirl later when I get some time. You have to save your Image file as a PNG, and of course select your background areas, and delete them out of the white, so that you see the checkered transparent background... this is for Photoshop if you use it.
I do use it but silly me I acutally use it to edit photos.
I have acutally been an artist for about 20 years (mostly fantasy, dragons and wizards and the like) but all of it is pencil, pen, paint, etc nothing digital. I'm more than a little jealous of all the people I see on here and DA that can create this stuff on their PC's with the same app I edit photgraphs with. Boggles my mind. ;P
P.S. (plugs LJ's art sale) Is your "less than half price" sale up and running yet? You mentioned somewhere possibly by Monday but I still don't see any mention of it on your blog or DA site? (/end plug)

Quote:Also those transparent PNG images are nice, but they don't look transparent to anyone using Internet Explorer 6 or earlier, which is a lot more people than you'd think. To those people there is this ugly off-white background on the PNG image. They will see transparent gifs but gifs can't do blurs and blends with the layer below the transparent image.
I use Firefox but have Internet Explorer 6 also for times when FF won't display something correctly or to test and make sure the site I maintained works for both... Vivaces shows correctly in IE6 her text and images floating directly over the forums teal/grey background.
If you don't mind my asking Viv how did you do that?
P.S. Yes these emoticons stink on ice as well as other things about the new forums... where the heck is the "view all" pages button?!?!? I prefer to have one page and scroll down, having to click next for each page is lame.
