  1. I don't mean they are all alts, but if the thinking behind the pricing of base items is on the idea of 40 members that are pretty much playing daily or at least every other day, that skews all the number. I myself like playing alts and anyone that started with CoH, probably still has however many heroes to play as well in addition to however many villains they created. For arguments sake if you had only 5 characters (with both Coh/V you have 12 slots) then if you chose to at least play all of them, you might play each one day and your two favorite for an extra day each, if you only play 3-5 hours during the week and then maybe 6-8 hours on weekend, that is quite a bit of playing but no so much on the prestige if you are only donating with one of those characters 1 day a week or even 2 days a week.
  2. That sort of illustrates another important point. You could have a 75 member group that only has about 10 people total that are what you would really call active as in play daily or at least every other day. In that case you wouldn't be at such a great advantage then either, since you only for a bonus for those first 15 members, it's not like getting a bonus for each and every member. Also, sometimes even though you ask member and explain what the prestige is for you can't force them to play on sg mode.

  4. I personally don't see how we could ever do it. my group is at about 65 members or so, and it's been about 2 weeks at least since I asked everyone to pitch in towards buying us the bigger plot from the beginner plot and we are at about 850k, needing like 1.6 Mil to get to the second size. I have no idea how anyone could ever get enough prestige to get a secure base at this rate. Also on a purely villain mindset and as was mentioned before, I'm evil! Why don't I just steal a generator, kill the tax man anytime he cometh and reroute computers to my complex? Furthermore, why can you only make some things on the benches? I think any item you should be able to purchase, you should also be able to create using your work benches, and as I've stated before there should be no placement cost, you already had to go through the gathering of materials, once you have an item you should be able to place it. Rather than having a cost for the rooms, if they want to slow you down on making them they should require real time for "construction" perhaps, and that would elimiate any costs associated with them, you should be able to pay prestige towards the build perhaps to have the room completed sooner.

We have 75 members and not many alts and I can assure you there is no ungodly amount of prestige. Seems like a long freaking grind to get enough to build most things.

In the same boat, we have like 60 members and can't even build up to the next level of sandbox so that some rooms we would like would fit. Also, does anyone know for certain, I had heard that there was supposed to be a workbench or something that allowed you to use salvage to manufacture enhancements, is this in fact true or something that was just spoken of in passing?
  6. I'm of the belief that the current restrictions and penalties would make more people choose to be on the side lines, just like before when any bots or pets could cause you to have debt. That put me completely off from PvP, now that they fixed it, rather quickly it seems, I might try it again. You are trying to introduce PvP in my opnion as an alternative to no "end game" content, but hardly anyone is going to embrace it, if you make it so tough to build your way up. Some things that I think are a problem, created items on the work bench, you already had to scrim and scrape all these items, to make refined items to create the item you wanted, now you have to keep that item, because you have to pay to place it! If you have to start replotting your base, you can't just simply reabsorb that item and put it someplace safe, all you can do is buy another similar room to temporarily keep it, or you have to get your prestige back, while losing the crafting material that you used in the first place. From the time I started with all this super group set up, one of the most common questions is "how many members do you have?", now for anyone that is serious about possibly doing any PvP that will be a big watch phrase, and it might even discourage new groups, because if it's going to take you 1 year to set up and adequate base for PvP, then that means the natural draw for someone new to the game will not be to create a new group but to join one of the oldest largest ones in order to have access to that content with "ease". I think that stifles the "joy" of PvP because would you want to fight the same 10 sg's all the time? I am not saying that I know anything about how the devs have anything planned, but the above ideas seem to me to make some sort of sense. Heck I don't even know how active I personally will be in PvP, but it's something I am sure some of my members will be into and it's a part of the game what I don't want to just summarily close the door on. I do hope that they will somehow correct some of the inconsistencies (such as the raid portal for magic fitting in the smalles room type versus the tech raid porter) my base is all tech and I don't think I should have to get the larger room size so that everything in my base matches. I also firmly believe that items you create should be free to place, it would help in two ways, that way you are not charged twice (material and bench costs and then placement cost) and also it would prevent any issues with any member in your group creating an item and then placing it and depleting your prestige in one shot. Then the only arguments would be regarding asthetics and not squandering prestige.
  7. Hello all,

It just seems to me that if base building is one of the big goals to help entice you into actually spending time into PvP it is being discouraged in every possible way. I mean you get a hole in the wall, where you can just basically build a functional base. Yes you could build a base that would be raidable, but it would be pretty pathetic, you would never be able to deploy all the defenses that I am sure every person here would put into a base if money was no object. I read in the base faq (that was very well written) that supposedly the defenders of a base if their power is taken out can no longer spawn in their base after defeat but instead at the nearest hospital, whereas the attackers even when defeasted immediately respawn in your base. I would expect that they would make it so items at a certain point might be a major premium but what I consider the basics should be affordable enough for a decently large sized group to get up and running fairly quickly. My group has about 60 members and we only have a functional base, still at the begining base size, I think it should have been fairly easy to get at least the first version of a secret base, also by allowing people to build, you would actually allow them to create and customize a base to their own building style, when the PvP part takes off, how long will it be before there are 3 standard base types that everyone is using because they are the most effective for the prestige value. With the danger of losing base items as well, I just don't see where the risk versus reward is coming in at all. maybe it's just me. Thoughts?
  8. The Illuminati Spiral

We do not wish to place our head for someone to simply replace as the next "leader" of the Rogue Isles...instead we wish to offer our services to those groups that aspire for the crown (let them think they rule as they make themselves the target and increase our value and worth, and when the time is ripe and our next patron comes along, we will topple them)...

That is our Light Role Play angle..... the important things, we are a fairly mature mixed group always looking for respectful players that are fairly active (play at least once every 14 days) looking to have fun, and join in on group hunts. No website as of yet, will probably procrastinate on that for a while. Base is coming along nicely, wish everything wasn't so dang expensive though. If you have any interest in joining us, feel free to contact Nightwhisper, Hand of Death or Clockwork's Master for an invite. Thanks, and happy villany!
  9. What are you trying to achieve? Mostly solo play? balanced? group play only? I will make some simple comments now though, why wait til 10th to have twilight grasp? It's a simple way to keep yourself alive when you take damage and you will, plus it allows you to also heal your allies if on teaming. Why take hurdle if you are going to have combat jumping, I do not believe they stack and it is rather redundant, might as well take swift instead so that you have natural 25% increased running speed which you will need since often you should not have sprint running to save end. Why takes hasten so late in the build, if you took it sooner you would have it perma by around 20 or so which would then allow you to focus on slotting stamina.
