I am returning to CoH/V after a hiatus and I want seeking a replacement for DM/Fire Brute. This Brute would be my main SF and all-purpose Redside PVE toon.
Ideally, the character would be able to tank and solo AVs; money is no object (it will take awhile, I'm sure, to get all the funds but that is part of the fun). I am dead set on Fire Melee and I'd like to run Gloom>Incinerate>GFS, which requires 250% recharge. However, I'm not sure which secondary would best fit my goals.
SR, Inv, or WP? I came up with an Inv and SR build (two sets I'm familiar with). Can anyone come up with a Fire/WP build for me that meets the mark? Also, which of these builds is toughest?

Hey all,
I've rolled a SS/DA and I'm loving it! I'm lvling swiftly and will have stamina by tomorrow. Anyhow, I need some build help: I am focusing on +max end, recovery, & S/L defense. Ideally, I'd like about 30% global recharge as well, but I don't think it can be done (without significantly sacrificing my other bonuses). Also, is my endurance consumption still too high? I tried frankenslotting my attacks to reduce my end consumption. Advice?
Further, my build doesn't have dark obliteration, but I'd like it. However, it seems like quite the end hog and its recharge is longish. My aoe consists of footstomp and Death shroud...is that enough?
Suggestions and improvements to the build are welcome!

Howdy all,
I'm getting back into the game after a hiatus (around the AE creation time) and I'm looking for a new brute. I have a 50 DM/Fire who I'm not happy with and want a replacement brute.
Here are some of my thoughts: Fire/WP, SS/DA (yay new patch, no longer cloud of smoke), or Fire/Shield.
I'll be gutting my 50 when the replacement can take all his IOs, but I'd also like a build that can get good performance without investing billions. My 50 has all of the health uniques and a few purples, and 100 mil. liquid inf.
Which of the listed choices would provide superior performance with the resources I have available? Also, if there are other powerset choices I should consider, please highlight them.

I'd like to engage in high-end activities, like AV (and pylon) soloing without inspirations, temps, etc. I'd also like to be able to be the team tank. -

I've got a mission that does this...here's your problem (I think): your boss spawn trigger is set to hostage arrival completion when you want it to be hostage rescue completion.
Arrival will mean the boss spawns after the hostage is lead to safety...rescue is after the hostage has been freed, but not escorted to safety.

While i love the buffs it got, it wasn't enough "a weakess" set into one of the best. =P
The new IOs also helped a lot depending on the build.

Invul still has the highest performance deviation: it can experience incredible, unmatched highs (gratz Nihilli) if it's soft-capped or be fairly subpar (SOs and no tough, weave, aid self).
Our sister, Willpower, on the other hand, is far more steady and even-keeled: a much higher performance with SOs and lower performance with IOs (this is where Invul's defense stacking, particularly Invinc, and defense debuff protection pushes it ahead).
In fact, I recall Arcana saying that Invince actually resulted in a net damage gain on scrappers only using SOs (due to the taunt aspect).
To all you Invul inspired forumites: be prepared to spend loads of inf...if you're not, then stick with WP for it's smoother performance from 1-50.
On another note, have you considered slotting the Panacea proc in health, Nihilli? It's a huge boon to all soft-capped characters, but even more for soft-capped invuls and their layered mitigation.
Intuitively, that's what I think, but perhaps someone has crunched the numbers and determined otherwise. -

For the Third attempt, I tried something more clever. I took the Pet Dr. Aeons and put some of them into Custom Groups. This actually wasn't a huge problem because of the amount of allies involved, but the fresh Ambush spawns would focus on the Player Character first until one of the allies could grab its attention. This meant nearly garrantteed death every time the ambush spawned, unless the player knew what was coming down the pipe in advance. So even though it was doable, that pretty much failed the attempt in my own opinion right there.

Sounds like you're on the right track...I would add an escort that is EB class, range-centric (with a melee powerset), and heals/buffs. Make sure the escort is set to follow and is defensive aggressive.
That should give the player some help during those ambushes. If it's not enough, add another healing (or possibly debuffing) escort. -

Invulnerability is really a great set now with i13 buffs and defense being easier to boost. It might be stronger than /SR in some situations (Scrapper solo vs Rom Nictus anyone ??)
