No shot of the werewolf? And from the director of Twilight?
Lame. -
I hope we don't get stuck with a lame villain just because Nolan doesn't want to use metahumans or anymore that have been done before.
-
-
I think what they should have done is put an actual mask on Reynolds even if they were going to CG the whole suit, cuz if you looked at the QuickTime version of this in HD and went frame by frame, you can really notice the shoddy work on the mask.

Incoming screencaps!
Abin Sur
Passing of the Ring
Power Ring
Oa
Ron Jere- er, I mean, Hector Hammond
Sinestro (glad they didn't go with the long hair, and notice how there's hints of his Sinestro Corps uniform in his GL one)
Tomar-Re
Kilowog
Hammond Transformed
Green Lantern
Suiting up
Looking for trouble
-
Well they're supposed to be basing it on the Secret Origins arc, so Hammond could be the baddie until Sinestro comes and helps Hal take him down.
-
I think the reason Hal is shown in the trailer as not being fearless is because they're going to play up to the yellow impurity as being tied to Parallax. They're going to show that the rings go after people who are fearless, but that leaves them susceptible to yellow, so Hal has to face his fear and overcome it to beat the yellow and Parallax.

Quote:Well the official synopsis that was released a while back implied that Parallax was the big bad in this one.I thought it was Hector Hammond, with Parallax in the sequel.
*EDIT*
This is the synopsis on the official site:
Quote:In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. -

Quote:In this regard, the problem is that Hal really doesn't create a lot of constructs when compared to Kyle or John. Hal just tends to shoot beams and do the occasional fist or jet.I'm... not sure I like the director. Something about the shots seems off. Also, it concerns me that there's only one shot of Hal creating something.
If I were in charge of this, I would have leaned hard on the "imagine that you're the hero" aspect of all comic books. Would have spent the whole trailer showing off how powerful Hal's ring, in particular, is.
Still, I'm interested.
Let's hope that the story is good and that will get us past some of the subpar effects, then when the sequel comes they'll give it the budget it needs to smooth it all out and take it all to another level. -
Definitely looks better than the ET preview, but then again, just about anything would.
Some of the effects still look a bit off, and just that little bit of dialogue from Blake Lively made me think she wasn't the right fit for Carol even more, if that was possible. Also, it looks like they aren't exactly making Hal fearless from the get-go, so let's hope they didn't give themselves just another issue to overcome. -
Which is probably why they should have gone with an actual GL suit on Reynolds and spruced it up a little in post, the same way they did it with Iron Man.
-
So I guess I'm the only one who's had Norton for years and never had a problem with it.
>.> -
Well the League of Assassins angle does allow them to bring in Lady Shiva, which could be awesome, but it seems doubtful given the shown candidates.

Quote:Agreed about the Blake Lively casting. Said that since the beginning. Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, can pull it off. I can understand them giving him a little more of a sense of humor than in the comics, since most of the time he's too stony faced and serious; they understandably wanted him to exhibit more of a personality. Plus, Hal is supposed to be the sort of guy who doesn't buy into Batman's crap, and I can see how Ryan Reynolds fits that bill. That's been my concern since the begining. Nothing about Ryan Reynolds says Hal Jordan to me, and Blake Lively is crap. From what I can see, Mark Strong is the only casting they got right.
*EDIT*
Wanted to say, though, I hope they don't go overboard with Hal joking. -
I really want this movie to be loaded with costumed villains with a main villain or two. Also, I think they could do without the love interest. But they could kill two birds with one stone by having Catwoman.
-
I am dearly hoping all of that is cleaned up before the release, because Green Lantern deserves to be done right and this movie should be the one that revitalizes DC's film franchises.
If it still looks like that when it's released I'll be a sad/angry panda.
Let's hope they just gave ET some crappy footage and the polished stuff is in the trailer next week. There just isn't an emote that properly conveys how hard I'm crossing my fingers now. -
Er does anyone else think the effects looked like ****?
