  1. Wow I was just making a suggestion, I know last I heard Posi said no due to tech issues but flat out no was said? I'm not a forum burrower so I keep up very lightly on mech.

For those who are "less than happy" with the look of the Dual Blade screenshots released, please keep in mind that it's still early in the release process with time to polish up features and you don't know all the features included in Issue 11 yet. As we move into October more details will be coming out so hang on to your hats (or blades, or whatever )

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about passing on the concept of being able to chose your blades? Future, Relic, Mystical, Sammy, ect from the option menu? I bet that would quell alot of problems. I know Posi once said that the powers origin for blasts points and colors were "hard baked" but why not rework the new sets? Then see if you can backwards engineer it I mean, we can send a man into orbit ^^ <shrugs> Where is posi anyway, every since he got a head you never see him anymore ;P

  3. gripe and moan! New power sets are new power sets! Animations, and you can't step on BAB for doing all that work because YOU don't like the way they look. I for one am looking forward to them! You want light sabers, go to SWG! I hear they are so bad they are giving them away ^_~ Flames? Go play WoW, I hear thats the bandwagon.

I for one like the way the blades turned out, after all it's not dual daggers, which seems to be alot of what people seemed to have wanted.

Psi Weaponry is next as well as shields, it's my firm belief that we'll get everyone one of those power sets, only that preference one which ones came first was the point of the power set polls!

Besides, they have to test that shield tech, electric hammer tech and psi weaponry for another game :P

    Thoughts:

In the second set of Paragon Times articles, time seems to have been altered farther back than the first, indicating that the changes are going backwards.
The alterations implied in the first article took place roughly four years ago. The alterations implied in the second article took place in the 1960s.

If the Fifth Column is really behind this, the direction this is going seems pretty obvious.

I suspect in the next set of Paragon Times articles, the Axis will have won WWII.

Ok Question, if Manticore flips in i11, what happens to his TF?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nothing.
The devs arent going to rework the entire game, this is all most likely going to invlove a new co-op zone set in an alternate timeline with a new TF open to "mixed" teams.

Could you even truely begin to fathom the outcry from all the obsessive-compulsive badge hunters out there if they changed everything around to the way it is now being represnted in the papers?

No sucsessful jail break = no jail bird badge.

Outbreak not contained = nearly impossible to get Isolator badge.

Manti being evil = no Manti TF, hence no badge for that (possibility of it being retconned out of existance).

Arachnos not running the Isles would mean an inability to gain a ton of badges villain side since so many of them require interaction with the members of Arachnos who in one way or another are helping to run the show on the Isles...

I seriously doubt that what is about to occur in I11 will change the 2 games in such a way that 1 of them (red side) would need a complete makeover. It would really piss a lot of people off.
    Story arch, sure.
    New Co-op zone, possibility.
New Co-op TF/SF, this has my vote for most likely to occur.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mere speculation and highly unlikely. Positron and Statesman have learned their lesson several times about badge hunters by the thousands storming them with emails and pms about taking a certain badge out. They would be fools to do all that you mentioned. YOU may be thinking on a much grander and impossible scale. Not that it wasn't a good idea but unless there's been a time line variation in my world, no that would never happen

Too much public outcry means unhappy players, badge hunters being a group of them, and thus, possible loss of accounts, defeating the purpose of developing new content.

    Conclusion? Highly Unlikely.

Ok, my apologies if you take this the wrong way, but you seem to be argueing a point with me that we both agree on.
If you had read the begining of what I had written you would see that I was ALSO explaining I do not believe that they would make any fundemental changes to the core areas of the game, everything that came after were examples of things that could be changed and why they would be bad ideas.
I am not as you said "thinking on a grander scale", I think that if at most a new co-op zone with new story archs and a new TF are involved. Thats about it.
Please read everything a person writes before argueing with them in the future, kthanxbi.

An interesting excerpt from the article about Recluse and Manticore:

    [ QUOTE ]
“Who were the rebels?” Fish repeated this reporter’s question with a wry smile. “Why, simple drug-traffickers
and freedom fighters. What else would they be?” His shark-like smile and mirrored sunglasses belied his story.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Anyone who has read Mark Bowden's "Killing Pablo" knows that Colombia is one of the most violent and wild countries on earth. Natives joke that God made Colombia so naturally beautiful that he populated it with the most bloodthirsty men on earth to balance it out. There is a lot of wild territory outside of government and police control, making the jungles a safe haven for drug-traffickers and paramilitary groups. I can't imagine what Recluse and Manticore are searching for or who the mystery "rebels" they're fighting really are, but I have a feeling it's really bad news.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That whole story is one of the weirdest things we've seen. There are at least 3 sides fighting each other: Recluse & Manti, the mysterious rebels, and the columbian military (with, apparently, the assistance of the CIA.)

Plus, the CIA agent "Fish", with his shark-like grin, sounds an awful lot like Mako.

So Manti & Recluse vs ? vs Mako. Curiouser and Curiouser.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I'm willing to bet that Fish is a reference to the true mastermind behind this, mr. Sean Fish, Head writer, aka God of Lore at Cox

  8. Now I entertain and support the thought that the two newspaper articles are point in fact not related.

Best way to show us that something is gone wrong is two changing incidents via time ideas! Think Back to the Future and the changing headlines.

Now, maybe this means we can all go to co-op in villain zones now. Boy wouldn't that be...fun o.o

    "Hi Bob, robbing the bank?"
    "Yeah, you know, thursday"
"Right, well since I can't stop you out here, I'll see you in the instance"
"Alright, say Hi to Cheryl for me, and Bobby.."
    "Righto.."
    <Power punches!>

er..I'm sorry I don't know where that came from.. o_o

    Nice article.

I know it's too late at this stage if they aren't in, but I'd love to see the Blood of the Black Stream brought into I11. They'd be very unhappy that someone is screwing with the Giant Circuit.

Also, there have already been hints that most zones are going to see at least minor changes as a result of I11.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. It would be nice if the villain EAT was something other than a rehashed third flavor of the space squids. I doubt there will be wholesale changes to many zones, it would break a lot of story arcs, badge hunts, and the like. I think we will find that temporary protection from temporal disturbances will have been set up and maybe a co-op task force brought in for players to help Recluse and Manticore get the correct timeline reset. Things will likely be back to normal with I12. Just my take on the whole thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, we kind of know what's going on there. Posi has said that Villains will get Khelds, and that they're trying for it sometime early next year. (which basically rules it out for I11.) He also said that they won't just be carbon copies of the hero versions, so, hopefully, they'll be different enough to keep them interesting.

As far as further EAT's go, I don't think we can look for those until the villain khelds come out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Technically he never specified kheldians.
All did was say that the villain epic ATs were in the works and would be released early on next year.
Personally I *SERIOUSLY* hope the khelds arent turned evil.
I would much rather have something comepltely new for us all to tinker around with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, when he stated "sometime early next year" for villain EATs, he didn't explicitely connect that to Kheldians, but from everything we've seen, villain Kheldians *are* going to be the next EAT. Plans can change, of course, but there's been no indication that they have. (See link in sig for links to as much official info about villain Khelds that we have to date.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I personally believe that being a Rikti is on of the EAT for villains

  18. Personally I think they wanta wipe alot of contacts that give the same thing out of the game, and the first paper might just be a sign of that. CoV runs fine with fewer contacts and paper missions, remember, paper missions are the solution to "I'm out of contacts!" We didn't have that when we launched, now, for tighter coding and less of a head ache for gm's and fish, perhaps we'll scale down the number of coh contacts since a fewer number can point in fact handle all of the story arcs and random missions given throughout the game as it is, making room for expansion with out the OMG too big scenario

Course I haven't read around, maybe thats already been hit on :P

  20. [ QUOTE ]
Well here's more info, courtesy of the CoV Website's Rogue Isles: 20th Century and Beyond Page [ QUOTE ]
When Statesman appeared in Paragon City, many of the villains there decided they needed a new home. The Rogue Isles was an obvious choice. Many already had connections there and the little nation’s “friendly” attitude made it a perfect choice. President Oakes was no fool. He knew that if he resisted these newcomers with their gangs and occasional superpowers things would not turn out well. But at the same time, he had bargaining chips – citizenship, diplomatic immunity, and other protections from American justice. And he had friends in the high places of America who were happy with the Rogue Isles just as they were. Deals were struck – in exchange for “playing nice” and taxes, the government turned a blind eye – and the Rogue Isles became a haven for the super-powered and evil.

During this time the first of many Arachnos cells arrived in the Rogue Isles. Representing itself as just another villain organization needing protection, the team quickly set up a base for its operations in the US. Avoiding spectacular raids and sabotage, it devoted most of its effort to intelligence gathering and influencing American policy. Lord Recluse did not overlook the Arachnos cell when he assumed control of the organization itself. Recognizing the value of a base so close to the US, he placed trusted agents (as much as Recluse trusted anyone) in charge and violently purged those he perceived to be troublesome. Once this was done, he ordered the station to go underground for the coming storm. This caution paid off when World War II broke out. President Marchand (Oakes’ “elected” predecessor) officially declared the Rogue Isles neutral, albeit with Allied leanings. When the 5 th Column menace alarmed the US, Marchand’s army waged a visible “war” on Column members on the islands, just to placate the Allies. It was Arachnos’ lower profile that allowed it to survive relatively unharmed.

And then Lord Recluse vanished – but even while the rest of Arachnos slid into turmoil, the hidden cell continued toward some unknown goal. Secret projects were started. Politicians were bought, rivals brought down. Men – and villains – were recruited. Someone was giving orders, but no one knew who.

It wasn’t until the mid-1950’s that it became publicly known that Lord Recluse was calling the shots. At that point he was ready to make his move. He performed a military coup, declared the Rogue Isles under the dominion of Arachnos and began to shape his empire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many of the facts are true in the article. Marchand went up against Oakes for Presidency. He was neutral, but visibily fought the 5th Column. This gives yet another date for Reculse's coup/attempted coup in the Rogue Isles, but otherwise it fits up until that point.

Anyone know who the current figurehead occupying the Presidency in the Rogue Isles?

One point I have yet to see mention is who the blonde undercover chick was that worked with Manticore. I'm thinking Swan, based off the blonde hair and her links with Manticore in our reality.

Another point, exact idenity of the 'rebels' Recluse and Manticore wiped out. 'Foreign terrorist driven out of the Los United States many years ago.' Got a couple theories:

5th Column (it's where everyone else is going)
Sky Raiders (I seem to recall an arc where some bigwig associated with Council or Sky Raiders trying to make a break for South America)
    Council (See above)
Malta Group (Doubtful, but they fit the description)
Arachnos (I seem to remember that Arachnos was spawned out of a central group from which the 5th Column also came. Perhaps he's leading the 5th Column now instead of Arachnos)
    SPIDER (See above)

Yet another point: In the article it said 'Simon Sinclair, the original Manticore, and his wife were killed by an assassin called Protean. In the savage attack, Back Alley Brawler, friend of the family, was put into a coma. Justin was the
    only witness.'

According to what's listed in his Paragonwiki profile, Back Alley Brawler killed Protean, earning Manticore's respect. So yet another differance between this reality and ours.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Brawler also was there to help Manti as he grew up, unable to in a coma

Arachnos was originally a Italian fascist group run by the Weaver. Over time, and nothing is made clear, Recluse was put in charge to it's American branch and eventually, prolly through force, took the entire thing over and moved it's main operation to The Rouge Isles, where he then sent the woman who would be Ghost Widow to destroy the president there so he could usurp power.

Perhaps the reason never rose it's head.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

“Manticore was one of the few men in the world I trusted with my life. Now he is one of the two men I would take it away from.” - Statesman

    Whoa. Harsh words form blue-boy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed, one can gather from this that Statesman is a more harsh person then we realize. Although he does agree that lethal force is not OUT of the question, just a method of last resort.

    [ QUOTE ]

SO, more facts to go along with the lack of Zig breakouts and lack of Outbreak Cure.

The Vindicators are now the Guardians, and it's not MRS. Liberty, not Ms.

Manticore is the same for MOST of the comic books that we've been given, except that he went over to Arachnos for REAL and not undercover as stated in one arc.

Last question: WHAT'S IN SOUTH AMERICA? Aztec mystics?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Issue 1: Perhaps Statesman's daughter was able to take with her this time, a dose of her immortality and did not have a duaghter that stands in Atlas Park?

Issue 2: Interesting point, but it sounds like without Brawler's help ( he was in a coma) he didn't just tetter on the edge, he went over the side! He wasn't ejected from the FP, he was suspended (like me o.-, what a cranky guy) for going against orders and using lethal force.

Issue 3: Perhaps the theory that Recluse and Manticore are working together to fix things is correct, let's suppose for a moment. That would mean they would not be doing so without a goal, both are level headed men, a immortal demigod and a writer's personal character, neither, as centuries of literary has told us, will be dim witted. Or perhaps there are Robots, and those two are the only one's left. Perhaps it's just something that came through portal tech's portal one day, you know paperboy with a huge throwing arm.

Perhaps, Statesman is the evil, and has controlled the media to make it sound like they are terrorists, all things fabricated against them and woven into a web. Marcus was always the one with the plans in the First book and Stephan I believe resented him for it, hence his need to sharpen and increase his mind, rather then Marcus compensating for his need for hired muscle, ergo his focusing on super strength.

Perhaps I know too much of the lore :<

But I'm excited, you hear that Fish? I'm excited! Posi? War Witch, BAB ( the live one o.o) I'm excited!
