If you don't have enough, you can take a crack at mine if you wish... But if you're swamped I'd prefer you take someone with less arts before me...
Fenian: http://fav.me/d2ucc2k
Fenian Wolf: http://fav.me/d2v17v9
btw - FenWolf is definitely the naughtier of the two so if your art was going in that direction she'd be the better choice. -
She's having a spat with Squirrel Girl, no Chipmunk Lad!
I just hope we get to watch them make up! -
-
I suspect the linework is probably better for most artists early on but don't give up on the colors... Just cause I liked the b&w better doesn't mean the colors aren't cool!
-
I totally love the rhardo! I think he really made a great piece of art there! Congrats, now go cash in those eggs and get more arts!
-
Like I said, say something often enough and you'll start convincing people. Maybe even yourself. In the meantime, Im getting bored dealing with this nonsense yet again so feel free to shout into the wind.
-
Wow, you used shift lock and a bunch of capital letters, you must be right.
Let's see, because I said I didn't mean to come off condescending then, according to you, I obviously mean to be condescending. No proof of it needed, just your say so, convienant that.
And... You assert I said one thing yet meant anoth but that isn't a lie? Huh? I thought that was the definition of a lie. And your asserting I did it time after time. Would seem that repeatedly lying would make one a liar... But you didn't call me that, or even suggest that if you want to play the semantic game...
Ya, whatever. Keep shouting, if you scream nonsense often enough people will start to believe it. -
All three are looking great but I like the pencil one the best... And welcome back! Stay this time!! :P

Tis indeed a very cute pic and the character sounds adorable

I am sorry if I left the impression you had the integrity to actually come right out and call me a liar. You did not. Rather you just said that when I said something I didn't mean it. Yes, sorry I was not totally clear about that.
And just so we can all see exactly how you said it, here we go:
Quote:I wasn't going to say anything else in the thread because my points were all "countered" with paragraphs starting with "Not to be <insert insult here>, BUT" (which of course means you're being exactly that) for me to really consider it a debate anymore, but you so completely and totally missed my point with that example that I have to step in and clarify before I'm credit with a buying local art movement that I find insane. It had nothing to do with LITERALLY BUYING LOCAL. The point was I could take the time to do some research, listen to the advice of people in the field, spend the same money, get a BETTER product, and make sure my consumer dollars worked to benefit a community/industry I like to buy from. There happens to be a lot of farms in driving distance that have what I want, but I also have gotten beef from a farm Vermont in the past because I liked their operations.
You hinged on this localvore thing and started splitting hairs over it and totally lost the point that it was an example where, as a consumer, the bottom line isn't your only best interest. If you want to keep getting commissions, it would also be in your best interest to spend your money and/or time in ways that will ensure you'll be able to KEEP getting commissions, ideally having even a larger choice of even better ones. I can't believe you even need to debate that.
Good God, an artist worth commissioning is an artist worth commissioning no matter where they/you are. I'm saying that money spent on contests or tantalizing inexperienced artists into doing commissions when they really shouldn't be is a poor use of funds towards the community, and there are much better ways of encouraging learning artists. -
Quote:So you take my little joke as an excuse to take a swipe at me? Shocking.Yes, Caemgen wins.
See, this overall battle really does go to the people who dropped, not for reasons of being busy or something came up, but when they made big shows of taking their ball and going home. More than once we had self-disqualifications over-ruling my own judgements on pieces that would or would not qualify. And this slew really defined what happened with the competition.
This last drop out, forcing everyone's hand into whether we got a last battle by Pyro's good graces or not is just the cherry on the cake, and has totally soured my taste for the whole thing.
I'll give Shia and CR a final theme if they want to do something a little more epic for their last show, but otherwise, CR wins.
Anyway, I do feel the need now to clarify a couple points:
1) I did not take my ball and go home - I took both of them. I have a strict "No Ball Left Behind" policy.
2) You've called me a liar before so I'm sure based on the same evidence you'll choose to ignore this truth since it doesn't fit into how you wnat to view things but I withdrew out of a point of integrity, something which is important to me.
I had no problem with the hot chick rule, in fact I immediately started trying to think up way to have fun with it. Then I broke the rule (by mistake) and once I noticed I withdrew. I included just one person in that particular art - Alice. And yes, you did say she qualified for the hot chick rule and I overrode your judgement... Sorry, but being the artist I happen to know that when I was creating the image I was trying to create the image of a 11-13 year old girl... My skill (or more rightly, lack there of) probably left the age a bit ambiguous but I knew my intentions.
I explained this as my reasoning but apparently you think it was silly. I don't know, maybe you have no problem with objectifying little girls but I do. I didn't feel it was right to hold up what I intended to be a young, preteen girl as a sex object... And I also did not feel it was right to be dishonest about my intentions as to what age I meant for her to be.
So yeah, your judgement was to objectify a kid and let me continue. I overruled that judgement and DQ'd myself from the contest. I would choose upholding the rules over sexualizing kids any day.
So yeah, I took my balls and went home. -
Sorry all but I declare myself the winner.
Contest over.
I said, contest over!! -
The odd thing is if you click the link I quoted those 3 from (Eddy Swan's Adventures in Color post), his colorization of your art is right above them so you SHOULD have seen those before!
Quote:The right colorist can bring out all the best elements without taking away from the style of the pencils. Eddy was clearly the man for the job on those.
Love the new Clap-sans buddy. He's got such a graceful style to his lines.
Yea, I've always loved how Eddy adapts his coloring to the original art rather than forces his color techniques onto them...
And thanks, I love Clap-Sans art all around... I think I may try to snag a watercolor or two next -

Quote:Found two posts to quote to make the comparison easier for ya, Airhead...Clap-san does amazing work, and I love the Fenian. Super-stylish.
It seems almost a blasphemy to colour his beautiful shading, but has anyone tried, and did it work?

Getting busy this weekend with commissions. (goes back to work)
Personally, I think the right colorist obviously makes it worthwhile! *I still love the originals but I really love the colored versions at least as much.... -
Foo can't play until he gives me my hat back!
Fox - Alpha's just mostly dead... If peacebringers could go to praetoria I'd have ressurected him already...
Suich - I think the problem is the tar... There are much, much better sticky things to cover Neko in... Chocolate Syrup, Peanut Butter, Fluffer Nutter.... Tar just isn't that appealing. -
All things considered, I think Timewarp is the best piece shown here...
-
Hey now! I should be off nights withing 5 or 6 weeks...
(Of course I still don't know what shifts I'll be on but they can't be as bad as nights! errr, but 3pm-11pm would still have me missing at least half of these... Hmmmmmm...)
Anyway, I'm sure you'll survive another week without me -
Perhaps but we'd rather see a chick fight between Mel and Neko
And you could team up with Kai for the who good and bad imagery....
(and Crimson - don't take her word for it! She's forgotten way more than 9 months before!) -
New arts by Clap-San! I love their style and the takes they did on my trio previously so when I saw a chance to get Fen's new costume and Fenian Wolf done, I had to jump on it.
-
His 40 in 60 thing is over and in fact the most recent change? Innovation? Development? Is that he has taken on a few commission pieces... Add those in to the multitude of birthday arts and other promised freebies and I'd say don't hold your breath...
BUT... I wouldn't count it out either. You never know what toon is going to inspire him or when he'll crank out a freebie just for giggles *shrug* -
I just wish Foo would give me my hat back!
-
Quote:It does seem like something I'd do... Except for the anonymous part. Still, sure, give me the credit! And I suspect a certain perverted Irish demon is responsible for this... >.>
(I'm also available to take credit for oil spills finally stopping, for winning lottery tickets and for other random goodness - except pregnancies! Good news or no, I am NOT responsible for that!!)
Cool art though, congrats! -
