Quote:Why would they?I've just been wondering about the acceptability of playing a villain AT to 20, switching them to hero, and saying that they've never been a villain. It seems kind of dumb to say that you must be a villain, Praetorian, or ex-villain if you control a small army of robots, but I'm sure somebody would complain if I tried to make a pure-hero one.
The Gadget based hero is one of the prime types of hero after all. -
That's a moral view.
If we go by Consequentialism as an ethical frame work, then assuming this does lead to a massive fall in the numbers of the undead, then her actions are Ethically quite sound. -
And there we have the reasoning behind the attack.
-
Prior to the attack.
Tomb sat in her hideout, hiding her injuries under her costume. She sat in a big, black leather chair, the kind any Bond villain would be proud of. In front of her were several computer banks and monitors, each manned by a technician.
Behind her three white boards were attached to the wall and each was covered in calculations, the first was purely financial figures, the second showed figures that dealt with those people who hunter monsters and demons, it showed over time these numbers slowly dwindling as such factors as mortality and retirement took effect.
The third board dealt with the Countess and her eating habits, a few guesses were made to how often she ate and how long she had lived, the low end guess put her personal fatalities in the upper hundreds, the numbers spiralled upwards, in the more grim cases the Countess would of been responsible for eating several thousand people.
It was noted on the board that each of these kills could create a new vampire, that would kill just as often as the Countess, and each of these kills could create a vampire that would go on to create and kill.
The numbers eventually showed an apocalypse scenario with vampires ruling the Earth. Below it Tomb had written We must avoid the current stalemate of the war, the Hunters have to be active and on the attack. They need something to force them to continue.
Boss? Riggs her lieutenant asked from her side Its time...
Begin the operation, kidnap groups move out and remember your masks. Meatdoctors make sure your tools are sharp. Tomb commanded as across the city sprung into action.
She sat head bowed and muttered softly to herself.
Please forgive me. -
Does Wednesday the 1st sound okay to everyone?

A question: How often do the Vampire players of CoH feed?

((The defence rolls went badly 1, 4 and 2))
The combined assault of the heroes on the machine were simply too much. It fell as its remain leg was severed, dragging itself forward by its arms, single minded in its purpose to gain ground and reach Pious. The missiles hit as raised on arm in a final attempt to kill the hero.
The machines optics burned, the entire world was in flames, it had succeeded.
It wasnt notified of the shot piecing its power core, the damage readings had long since overloaded.
"MATRIS DID EGO OPEROR PUTEUS?"
<Mother did I do well?>
The core overload, flashing white hot as the machine exploded.

While a lot of the machines coding was in fact standard Malta stuff, several sections such as the machines lexicon had been written by another programmer. They leave a message in the final piece of coding.
//While no doubt you view my actions today as monstrous, they were ethically sound, something I have no doubt history will agree with//
As the explosion consumed the machine, this too vanished on the wind. -
Will post in the morning, very tired had family over all day, adorable children.

Improvised weapon, your own severed limb. Man this brings back DnD memories.

Could it be that these aren't super booster's because they won't be tied to origins like the previous boosters?

Quote:The plasma burst finishes.Schmitt hunkered down behind the metal shield, standing in front of the plasma blasts and being forced back as the brilliant arcs of plasma impacted his shield, heating it up rapidly, Schmitt battling the heat with his psionic energy, trying to absorb as much as possible, the ground cracks s he stands there, fighting against the plasma as much as possible. Gradually his left arm starts to heat up, causing Schmitt to grunt and grit his teeth as it spreads to the left shoulder and torso, before it stops, Schmitt's armour now glowing red and radiating heat...
The machine reaches forward and down with one hand, the plink plink plink of rapidly cooling metal and wet sounds of sprayed coolant audible over the sound of the fire rain falling to leave burning puddles around the battlefield.
It picked up its severed leg and raises it high, before hurling it towards the hero that had blocked its plasma attack. -
I've always seen it as the person wielding it needs to believe in it.
In old World of Darkness, there was a person who drove off a bunch of vampires with true faith, the thing is he was an atheist and it was his absolute belief that supernatural things like vampires couldn't exist that drove them away. -
The missiles were stopped, but not without incident...
The thirst third were conventional, explosive missiles, they were destroyed before they were armed, either by flame or by sword. The second third of the missiles, released clouds of lingering gas upon destruction, greenish gas a mixture of cyanide and other deadly chemicals, but these clouds were also consumed by fire or simply buffeted apart by the wind.
The final third were filled with incendiary liquid, which when destroyed by the flames ignited, burning rain falling down towards the fighters and the machine.
With a titanic roar the machine attacked, a flow of super heated plasma launching from its hands, streaking towards Pious, too brilliant to look at and igniting things as it passed due to the intense heat. -
"Because of the mysticism surrounding silver's lunar associations, as well as the aesthetic qualities of the white, reflective metal that cause it to be associated with purity, silver in European Folklore has long been traditionally believed to be an antidote to various maladies and fictional monsters. Notably, silver was believed to be a repellant against vampires (this primarily originates from its holy connotations; also, mirrors were originally polished silver, and as such, vampires allegedly cannot be seen in them because they are wicked) and it was believed that a werewolf, in his bestial form, could only be killed by a weapon or bullet made of silver, and was equally effective against vampires, as described in Eastern European folklore. This has given rise to the term "silver bullet," which is used to describe things designed to cure or fix a wide array of maladies."
It's a bit of lore that fell out of fashion for awhile, it's started coming back into vogue with modern day Vampire films however. -
Pucker face I'm sure means some one in the powers division.
They are sucking up to Cole and the praetors, an *** kisser in other words. Both requiring you to pucker you lips, hence pucker face. -
Status. Left leg broken away, no longer capable of full movement in combat.
Hydrocutter no longer cuts.
Preparing to attack. -
Quote:The DeFeurard siblings nodded once, before rejoining the fray. This time all three focussed their attacks on the things legs, Leon attacking the right knee, Marie the left, while Lawrence hovered behind it, blasting the joints with barrages of intense flame, attempting to cause an over-heat and siezure even if the other two could not cause direct physical damage.
((Oooo things heated up while I was away))
((Rolled 5 for defence -1 to roll))
With the tortured scream of metal grinding against metal, the machines left leg is crippled, the servos and hydraulics spurting sparks and fluid. It steps forward dragging its lame leg behind it, the knee joint dragging against the ground hard enough to rip deep into the asphalt.
Quote:
Turning into a nose dive, his sword at his side, Blade plumetted with all the speed and power he could muster. He aimed for centre of the machine, hoping to punch right through it, using dark energy to form a second spear tip around his entire body.
Blades impact slams into the machine, but with its already ungainly stance, the machines armour is simply too much at an angle for his spear to bite deeply, it is angled up and towards the machines shoulders.
Quote:Schmitt leaped and propelled himself forward vanishing in a bright flash and reappearing seconds later from a psionic rift once more, aiming to barrel into the machine harder this time, shield extending into a circle with a sharp point in the centre, aiming to pierce the robot's midriff with the charge, "We need to work together!" he yells to the vampyres and Blade
With what appears to be an angered raw, the machine responds to Erez'Zul command it dodges Schmitts attack with sudden acceleration, twisting round on with the power of its right leg, the broken left join finally gives as the machine turns back towards the school and Pious.
AUDIO QUOD PAREO!
<I hear and obey!>
The machines bellowed words came out in a sonic burst, that spread out, shattering windows and setting of car alarms for several blocks.
Ports opened along its shoulders as it raised both arms towards the school, and Pious.
From its arms came the high pitched whine of something becoming super heated, as with a whoosh missiles rose from the ports, heading straight up into the sky. -
((Defense roll 16))
Luckily for the machine, the waves of fire and energy strike each other, robbing them of some of the impact, unluckily for the grisly trophies they still hit, burning those that have yet to be given mercy.
((Defense roll 8))
The spear drives true and deep, when it is withdrawn heated blood spurts through the hole in its armour plating, Blade has struck one of the pipelines for the machines blood cutter attack, severely weakening that attack.
The machine stops for a moment...
UT VOS ORDO
<As you order>
With three heavy steps it turns its back on the blazing school, stepping forward back down its trail of destruction. -
The blood is, normal blood mixed with actual vampire blood, no virus present.
After being burned I guess the blood would be inert, fire after all is supposed to be one of a vampires weaknesses so I guess it gets purified by the flame. -
Titans' current status.
Joint armour weakened -1 to defense rolls there, staggered for a turn.
Unaffected by the fear attack, because well it's a robot... -
Quote:((Rolled 15 for defence, no damage yet but armour in that area weakened))She nodded, backflipping off the construct and freefalling to the floor, landing perfectly with cat-like grace, before launching herself at the things knees, hacking ferociously at any exposed joints and servos she could.
Up close, the attention to detail and sheer artistic nature of the machines design are easy to see. Each exposed bolt and rivet of the machines armour is an exquisite silver finished pentagram, the cables and joints are wrapped in a blood lacquered leather like hide, and it is this material that takes the first impacts, splitting slightly but preventing the blade from driving deeper.
Quote:Schmitt's disorientation lasted long enough to miss the beginning of the fight, but as soon as his wits were about him his shield appeared, fanning out made from the liquid metal, with a grin in his words he called out to the robot, tinging it with a psychic allure, his shield pulling back as he vanished and appeared 'falling' sideways, out of a rift brimming with Psionic energy, he barreled into the robots midriff as the vampire's backed off, "Tincan! Ignore the mosquitoes!"
The heroes impact occurred just as the machine was stepping forward, throwing it off balance, though it does not yet fall, it collides with a house smashing into the building, its weapons no longer trained on the heroes as it frees itself from the debris. -
Well that's its most interesting attack :P
-
Quote:The machines dreadful eyes dimmed, again it bellowed but this time the sound was strangely... liquid... organic? So saying, Leon and Marie lunged at the thing, Marie drawing twin swords out of the air as she and her father began to attack the giant construct square in the face.
CRUO EST VITA!
<The Blood is life>
Blood dripped from the titans skull, flowing from its eyes, nose and jaws, only to suddenly spray with incredible force. The blood was tainted, mixed with the blood of various vampires, to have it enter your system would no doubt leave a mortal man bound to the will of the vampire donors, and cursed to rise from their grave upon death.
But it was not the infection that made this attack dreadful, but the pressure, the blood flowed with such restrained force that it became in effect a hydro-cutter, capable of sheering through steel. -
The machine bellows?
Like a cruel demon the machine roars in triumph advancing towards the fallen Priest, its every step smashing and ploughing through the ordinary things of normal, peaceful lives. -
I was just going to roll a D20 when attacked for the effects :P
But the more the merrier...
