Trying to work out the least annoying way to get there, either a train from Chav Town to Sheffield and then to the meet, or hopefully a train Chav Town B to there.

I go by the DC comics rule. "No body, no actual death."

Hmmm I've said my piece, why continue posting?.
While subscribed I want to get the powersets for free, without waiting months for each one.
I'm perfectly happy with them making me pay to 'keep' premium powersets, but not pay for them while I'm already paying them monthly.
I prefer the Turbine/Cryptic model of Hybrid payment, rather than this stange double dipping method Paragon are implementing. -
Quote:Right now: you lapse your subscription, you lose access to everything.
Once Freedom hits: you lapse your subscription, you lose access to some items.
Access to some features will be behind a paywall in Freedom, just like they are behind a paywall now (COV before the merge, GR, boosters).
What's there to think?
Did you miss the whole.... your subscription costs the same but gets you less thing?
No one is saying that you should get everything for ever, if you stop subscribing, but giving you a one off fee of $10's to access a powerset, when you have given them $15's already this month (and $15 last month, and the month before and so on) is complete BS. -
Quote:I don't think "jingoistic" means what you think it means.
In 'my' country we aren't bound by a contract, that we have to accept before we can even see said contract.
1) By opening this shinkwrap you have accepted the EULA.
2) the EULA is contained within the jewel case, within the shrinkwrap with no way of checking it before hand.
Nor do we demand the rest of the world obey our **** legal system.
(Not that my country is perfect, its just better than the US, hence Jingoism.) -

Quote:Yep happens all the time. That's why they sell packages of channels. The channels available in the packages change from time to time, they even drop channels or pick up new channels.Quote:Yup. My satellite provider ditched G4 a while back. I didn't notice my bill getting anything knocked off for that. I haven't sued them, though, because frankly I ought to have sent them a fruit basket for doing me the favor.
Just a heads up... if you are ever in the need of a bunch of cash and or extra TV channels... -
Quote:Yep happens all the time. That's why they sell packages of channels. The channels available in the packages change from time to time, they even drop channels or pick up new channels.
Now you see...
This is where law might vary from country to country.
But if I enter into a contract with you, and part of that contract is you give me goods for X amount of money, or a certain amount of services for X amount of money, and you suddenly demand more money or cut the services/goods i recive then well... to put it polietly you are **** in court. -
Quote:Since this thread is probably on its way out, I'd just like to remind the OP that I have not gotten your stuff yet. Just toss a PM my way and we'll hash out the details.
Very truly yours,

If this thread does get moderated... well lets just say that my global feed back about CoH will drop to the negative for the first time ever. -
Quote:It sounds to me like you heard CoH was going to have a Free-Play option and you decided right then and there that you would stop paying, and now you are disappointed that if you do, you won't get some of the things you want.
Um....
No.
No.... and double NO.
My complaint is that my subscription now gets me less. The only times I've ever unsubscribed was when I really didn't want to or could not, play.
What I would retain, doesn't matter a fig to me, If I unsubscribe, I don't play.
But now my sub doesn't cover powersets any more, which is BS, since my sub hasn't reduced in price. -
Quote:The extra fee you're mentioning? I believe that's called Pay Per View or On Demand services.
Wait a few months and it will be broadcasted on the other cable channels.
I was talking internet, since we were talking about cable modems.
Unless America is some sort of strange place where all the TV comes through the internet.
To take it to TV's.
Your TV/Satalite/Cable provider gives you XY and Z channels as part of your subscriptionj. Then they change it so that channels Y and Z are now an extra charge, but still charge you the same for just channel X as your were paying for XYZ.
Wouldn't you think, 'wait a pancake-ing moment?' -
Quote:EULA's are not a contract. And if you read the EULA it clearly states under member conduct that You agree not to use the Service to:
impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a NC Interactive employee, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;
So that 13 year old that misrepresents himself as a parent or guardian runs the risk of getting his account banned if NCSoft discovers what he has done.
They have been challanged, and defeated in a court of law.
The Dev's could write in the EULA, that they have the option to teabag, every subscriber's mother, if they whished. It would still not be legal. -
Quote:~Hmmmm~You could also go with a Cable Modem example.
Yes I paid for the cable modem. But if I don't pay the monthly fee I sure as heck won't be getting any internet access. So yes, I own the cable modem(like the CoH game client). But without paying the monthly, it just takes up space and doesn't do much beyond that.
Thinking I SHOULD get my cable for free because I bought the cable modem from the cable company? Now see, that's just crazy talk.
How about your cable modem company, charging you $15 a month for internet access for seven years, then suddenly changing it so that to stream a movie/song/etc you have to pay your normal $15 + an additional fee.
Alternativly, you could just wait 2-3 months while paying your cable fee's to stream that one item? -
Quote:Not really interested from a discussion point of view, since I aired my views and was ignored but...
Now you get to the log-in screen and the EULA.You have to accept the EULA before they allow you to play. And after legalize and mumbo-jumbo big words, it basically says: This is our game/ intellectual property. You rent the privilege to access our servers. We determine what you have access to. Anything you do in game also becomes part of our property. You do not own anything in regards to our property. We can allow you access to the servers at our convenience/ pleasure. We can remove your privilege to access our servers as we please. We can change anything we like at any time. Your only official recourse is to stop paying your subscription.
EULA's have never been upheld in a court of law, in fact they have been defeated several times. An EULA is not a contract. -
Quote:She was the passenger and the car was not moving at the time. Very reasonable precautions that the majority of people don't actually take when they get a hot drink at a drive through. But the jury still found that she was 20% liable because of the way she was trying to open the lid, and reduced the award they gave her by that much.
A big part of the ward she got is that Mc Donalds said the coffee would be hot.
What they didn't say was life threateningly scoldingly above what it should ever be hot. -
Quote:How long would that take at 400 points a month? With new content coming out each month?Giving the free PP to Subscribers while they are already getting everything for free isn't a good idea. If that were the case they could just save up those PP and use them to unlock everything for the Premium account and never have to pay again.
Remember they are subscribed during that time so Paragon are getting $15 a month from them.
Plus if you know that you won't have to buy say Staff Melee, then that X amount of PP EXP boost, looks really tempting to go with your scrapper.
Plus well you can get more than 400PP for $15, by the time the player could save enough PP to access all the content they'd lose by going Freemium, they'd of spent way more than just out right buying PP. -
Personal view is that while you subscribe you should get all the 'premium' content for free. Well not for free, because you are paying for it via subscription.
Of course I'm not advocating that you get to keep the 'premium' content should you let your subscription lapse, at that point to continue to use the characters using those powersets you'd have to purchase the powersets.
This is the standard system for Hybrid subscription types, your subscription lets you access all the good stuff, and here you can have a little bit of pocket money (PP/AT etc) to buy treats.
With the current prices we are looking at the equivalent of a mid sized issue release every six months (Two powersets = 4 months PP, being generous and saying a costume set will cost the same), but that is without any of the 'nice things' like character slots, enhancement slots, exp boosters etc. being purchased.
To summarise my view.
- While you are subscribing powersets and other 'content' should be free for you to use.
- Stop susbcribing you have to buy it to continue using it.
- Monthly PP given while subscribed, is there for buying treats, or hoarding incase you go free.
-
Quote:No they don't.
What they are giving subscribers for free is Archetypes. The archetypes don't have new power sets, they are using specific powers that already exist in their game.
The powers they do sell are sold on an individual basis and cost half of what we are paying for 9 powers.
Incorrect.
Since F2P they released one new power set, Heavy Weapon, that is free to play to subscribers.
The arch-types are simply guided leveling packs for free to play players (Or uncaring subscribers).
Everything else in the store? Fluff. EXP boosts, tempoary powers, costume packs, travel powers which are exactly the same as the ones subscribers get for free, only with an added particle effect. -
-
Quote:I needed to look up dates to show a period in which several 'free' powersets were reduced. If I were to be picky I could point out that added 10 powersets during that time.Don't change what your argument is when someone counters your argument. You didn't try to make the point that what CoH is doing is different than what other games do. You tried to make the point that what CoH is doing now is different that what it's done in the past. It's flat out not, and the people telling you so are not Yes Men for saying so.
You're allowed to disagree with the way they do things. But you should have your facts straight on how they did things before, and how they do things now, and how they're not really different.
Additionally, when you bring a crappy attitude, you don't have a leg to stand on when someone calls you on it. If your posts had been reasonable and rational instead of sulky, then the person who pointed out what you said was childish would indeed have been making an ad hominem attack. Instead they were just calling a spade a spade.
Are we allowed to disagree though? The moment we do so we are told we are whiny children.
"OMG You don't like the end game, you are a want everything now child!"
"OMG You don't like paying for extra for powersets, You could jsut wait and spend none of your points on QOL upgrades, you want everything now child!"
Always the same bleeding people as well.
All Paragon needed to do was have their cash shop offer 'extras' for their subscribers, the QOL upgrades, the EXP boosters, just like the proven model of Hybrid MMO's. But apparantly pointing out that you dislike them double charging a subscriber, either in actual cash or in months paid (after all the points you save to buy a powerset, can't then be spent on the QOL upgrades), makes you open for attacks . -
Quote:
No they aren't. They only cost extra if you are a petulant 6 year old with entitlement issues that has to have every shiny he sees as soon as he sees it. Much like the Auction House patience is a virtue, with the exception that in the Paragon Market patience means you don't have to pay a penny.
The competion gives subscribers all new 'powersets' for free.
Every hybrid MMO I've played gives subscribers classes for free.
Your passive agressive attacks, make it clear that you're just a Dev Defense Force 'Yes Man' the kind that have begun to plague the boards lately, and will pretty much screw the game over in the long run. It is okay to say 'I don't like this', you don't need to ad homienem attack anyone who doesn't respond to every move the devs make with a 'Please sir can I have another'.
Edit:
Periods where they added several powersets for free?
Issues 11-13 Added Dual Blades, Willpower, Villain Epics, shield defense, pain domination. -
Quote:Please do though. My understanding is that as long as I stay subscribed, I get all of the content I previously had.
Where did you hear that it was different?
You get Time Manipulation.
Beam Rifle? You have to buy that.
Street Justice? You have to buy that.
Titan Weapon? Guess what? Yup you have to buy that.
So yeah, now powersets are additonal cost, on top of your subscription fee.
The 400 points a month you get? won't cover them either in a single month. -
I get his point. I nother F2P hybrid MMO's you 'buy' content and that is it, you have it forever. The current version of Freedom that doesn't happen.
You can't buy access to the AE, you can only rent that access for a month, which is kinda BS.
Don't even get me started on the whole paragon points for a subscriber not covering content that we used to get for free issue either. -
Quote:A player could get Hami-O's without ever teaming. That still requires team content.
And besides, Hami-O's came before the market.
/b I'm selling <insert Hami-O> send tell with offer!
/t player name, I offer <insert inf here>
Players trade, and the solo'er gets his Hami-O without ever having to team up.
