Quote:Irradiant gave a bright little giggle at Starjet's mock-grimace "I wonder if anyone's here cosplaying as you?" She remarked lightly in a teasing, but friendly tone. "Maybe they'll dance too!""Hello, D" Starjet replied warmly as she located the familiar voice that suddenly appeared beside her.
"It's certainly interesting" and she nodded her head towards 'Manticore' and 'Sister Psyche' dancing enthusiastically on the stage and then mock-grimaced at Irradiant.
"They certainly have more courage than I do... Speaking of which, are you in the power display later?"
"Uhh.." she started uncertainly as the subject of the power display, her tail curling a little at the tip "I really don't think I'm 'big' enough yet to be a draw, besides despite there being a lot of metafans about, I think there's a lot of people who wouldn't understand my powers too.. even with time to explain I think there'd likely be a little panic at the word 'radiation' ... especially as I kinda, sorta, maybe triggered a mutation in my sister a few years back. That's resolved but better safe than sorry and all of that. Besides, this way I have more timke for my table and to maybe find Will" -
Quote:Sara quickly snapped off several shots from various angles, moving at high speed to ensure she wouldn't hold the poor guy up too much and not caring about the occasional odd glance she'd get from passers by for getting on her knees or hopping up on an abandonned chair to get photos more dynamic then the standard fodder you saw as results from cons and the like. After a few minutes of the flurry of activity the shutterbug ceased in her assault of clicks and flashes from her camera and settled in front of the 'Statesman'Inwardly dying of embarrassment, the Statesman uniformed Brickhouse went into a number of incredibly corny heroic poses.
"Thanks, that was amazing" She complimented genuinely, only just managing not to melt inside at both the knowledge that she had some great photographs but also that she'd managed to find someone who not only looked good in spandex but could pose for the camera.
"If I run the shot in the magazine do you want your name adding, or any comments? or would you prefer to keep the mystery?" she questioned, just about managing to tear her eyes away from his chest and up and into his eyes. -
Quote:A bright grin settled on Sara's open face at the man's posing, she liked him already, then again she'd always been easily swayed by all things meta.Oh no! She ain't talking to me is she? Brickhouse thought to himself as a young lady carrying a camera called in his direction.
He then took a quick glance towards Catwalk who was still caught up seducing the egotistical Captain Hollywood with her insincere flirting. Focused on her own mission she was in no position to help Brickhouse leaving him to deal with this annoyance on his own.
As the young woman approached he forced a nervous smile, and for reasons not even he could explain pushed his chest out and rested his fists on his hips in a semi-heroic pose.
"Uh... you talking to me... er Citizen?"
"Hi there, I am, yes. Thanks for stopping" She breathed out excitedly. She was in good shape from running around and climbing things to get perfect shots yet she often came out sounding a little out of breath every time she spoke to someone after running after them. Silently she blamed the nerves and embaressment of how rude it could sometimes seem.
"I'm Sara Saxon, of Kapow!" She pointed to her badge with a slightly apologetic smile for her upcoming question "I was wondering if I could get a few shots of you for the mag. Your costume is just amazing and you pull it off really well!"
-----
Irradiant meanwhile had spotted the glowing eyes of Starjet and teleported swiftly tot he other side of her table, much to the geeky glee of onlooking fans.
"D! No! I'm not manning your stall alone!" Her younger sister objected with a pout that was of course missed as Irradiant blipped from existance again only to reappear next to Starjet.
"Hey!" The excitable girl chirped up at the much taller member of the Nuclear 90 "Having fun?" -
Sara's eyes lit up as she spotted a man dressed as Statesman who unlike the scores of other 'Phalanx members' at the con actually had the physique to carry it off. Moving swiftly she weaved between the fanboys and girls to catch up with the man who made an incredibly passable States.
"Hey!" The photographer called out in the hopes of grabbing his attention, she had no idea who the metafan was but she knew she needed to get a photo, if not for the magazine, then for the girls in the office at least. -
I shall be writing up questions during the next week for those who've asked for them. I'm also looking for:
* Other articles - on characters/plots/interesting ic developments
* Adverts (so its not just my characters businesses being advertised)
* MANA categories
* Letters to the editor/mag staff
* Items to be put up in the charity auction -
Firmly securing her badge proudly emblazoned with the Kapow! logo in place on her khaki jacket Sara Saxon left the magazine's small booth to start her rounds. Camera firmly in hand the shutterbug snapped off shots of waiting heroes and anxious metafans that could be glimpsed through the opening doors. She hadn't stopped grinning since the second she'd arrived, Capecon perfectly embodied everything Kapow! was about and she just knew her grandfather who'd set up the original Kapow would have loved to have seen such an event.
-----
Meanwhile the petite Irradiant put the finishing touches to her table, her bright green tail flicking nervously from side to side as she pinned a banner to the tablecloth in front of where she'd be sat.
'Metaconnect - matching heroes and sidekicks
As seen in Kapow! - Issue 2'
She was still uncertain and a small amount of fear showed in the young woman's emerald eyes. There was no turning back now however so she vaulted the table with ease and settled herself in her seat beside her minion for the day, her younger sister, also dressed in her hero costume, Chaotic Bunny.
"Calm down, seriously, D you get much more highstrung and we'll be needing to peel you off the ceiling!" The younger girl jibed playfully as she put her dark boots up on the table.
"Gah! Trying to look professional here!" Irradiant replied swiftly as she pushed her sibling's heavy boots off of the nice white tablecloth. -
I welcome anything, both lighthearted and serious.
As for interviews I can try to meet people ingame or send out sample questions for the sort of things that would be asked for the player to answer/fiddle with/add to/take away from. -
Ooh, can't wait to see. People are free to make up names for junior reporters but if you lack inspiration:
Matthew West
Sue Kennedy
For a couple of junior reporters. -
Aww, thank you so much Game ^^ It's a lot of fun to do, and it seems to be growing as I'm getting more offers from other people to write articles for the next one!
-

I'm finishing off articles, ordering pages and the like. I am hoping to have Kapow! issue 2 up at the weekend (although it may be early next week depending)
So I am giving people until Friday to send in articles/interviews/adverts etc etc if they want them in issue 2 -
Seriously, I love you guys. It really is an encouragement and makes me smile when others give their input on things like this and Kapow!
-
Oooh, do approve, thank you Al! *hugs*
-
Haha, thanks Al, I am looking for the more serious as well, yes
I'll be around when those gears kick in
-
Again, you are made of awesome hun. I giggled at seeing the suggestions and they are exactly what I had in mind!
-
Still open to suggestions on this one. Any and all categories welcomed. I shall also ask on the Union Roleplayers channel later ^^
-
Thanks for all the responses guys.
A few notes on responses:
* The Succubi Club is more than a simple strip club, and is a business that contacted Kapow to put a mysterious ad in (note no contact details) as they cater to those with a taste for things quite metahuman. Also I don't feel comfortable doing adverts for companies that aren't my own without express permission from the owner of the idea (I was a little worried over the worn cover one I did)
* More on ads: I welcome any and all ads for IC businesses, if you're not of an artistic bent I can put together something for you.
* Interviews: I can try to meet people ingame, but also welcome writeups from people of interviews (I can write up example questions for prompts if wanted). The mag has NPC staff that could have met with your character (this lessens the load on me!)
* Shadowe: I'd love to see some articles from you, anyone in fact! The one on eating habits I would love to see, I liked that as an idea, it came from the photographer 'Shutterbug' Saxon running into someone who said they ate souls. All fun RP stuff. -
Hee! Thanks guys! And the plan with this was always to try to bring in contributions from as many people as possible, I just wanted to get the first issue out there to give a feel for what I'm going for. I welcome contributions from PCs or NPCs and relating to anything in Paragon or the Isles.
It's why the next issue is planned to be out really soon, I thought the idea of a Vlaentines issue may spark imaginations. Articles on meta couples, love notes from fans to favourite heroes/villains and general gossip on the speculated relationships between characters just something light and perky to contrast the whole war thing of the first issue.
I'm also always wanting screenies of characters to run hot or not articles as they'll always amuse me. So many sorrys to Elizabeth Báthory for the first one but it was commented on ooc that she was wearing the exact same shade of red as the Corp at the villain meet, she almost looked like one of us! ^^;; -
Heh suggestions can be put up here or on the discussion page. I'm subscribed to this thread so I'll be notified of replies. I'll likely just copy&paste suggestions over from here to the discussion page so I have them all in one place though so it may be easier for people active on the handbook to put feedback there themselves.
As for the IC/OOC, in character would be prefered as its more fun but I'll take ooc as well and attribute those suggestions to random metafan NPCs -
I'll always be wanting more material and I'm more than happy to take on any and all contributions. I can always jump up and down and yell some time if needed though! I just thought this would be something fun and lighthearted for the community and also give a place for vague overviews of the big plots that are doing the rounds.
-
Thanks, it's very much a start, a first stepping stone thing. I'm hoping with time it'll get better and I'll be able to put in more of the goings on in the Union RP community in there ^^
-
Metahuman Accomplishment, Notoriety and Appreciation awards or MANA awards are coming soon to the Union Universe. This is a light-hearted and fun community plot that I'll be running over the upcoming months. For more information have a nosey at the MANA awards Handbook page. It's a little empty for now but will see updates as the plot progresses and I will be welcoming feedback throughout.

For those of you not aware of my pet project, I thought I'd share:
Kapow! Issue 1
Kapow! Issue 2
Kapow! is a metafan (that is fans of people with powers, both heroes and villains) magazine, updating readers on plots, schemes, gossip and just idle rumour about the caped community. The first issue gives and idea of what I'm doing and with time and feedback it could grow into something bigger.
Even if it doesn't grow, this is an IC item in the Union universe so characters are free to reference it as it's freely available. -
It's sounding good and shiny to me. I am happy to help as best I can with planning and the like. I have an alt mountain so I'm sure I can find something interesting to take part in things.
-
I may pop in but I'm unsure, the masquerade did not go so well for me, I hoped to RP with some new people but it seemed most were happiest talking to the people they usually talk to and not branching out too much :\
