Trying (and failing) to keep up with the thread so I come with a quick update of plot related goodness from ingame action;
The Corporation had a directors & managers meeting to discuss the whole situation, what they should do and who they should help. They are now preparing and will show their hand soon enough in game I'm sure. -
Midday, Thursday 3rd of June.
A corner of Pocket D.
A petite woman stood tall despite her meager 5' stature, her long blue hair shifted gently behind her as though caresseed by unseen waves and her eyes, softly glowing in the dim light were focused on her taller companion. His pointed tail flicked casually from side to side as he spoke openly and honestly. Frequently the pair would exchange smiles, his friendly and hers gentle, polite, almost serene.
The music lulled for a moment. "I still think your on the wrong side Aquis, you could be a great hero, specially with your diplomatic skill" The male complimented in all earnesty.
"Paragon isn't my home Blade, and these 'sides' aren't as concrete as some like to think" Aquis countered with quiet ease as the next track made their continued conversation difficult to hear again.
Moments passed before an imposing shape moved up behind Aquis, the impressive and infamous form of Ubermensch Kahn, his scarred face and precise eye taking in the entire situation. The large soldier's expression soon became one of boredom at listening to Blade speak yet still the trio talked for several minutes before Kahn left, a slight smile on his weathered features.
Left alone the original pair resumed their discussion for a few minutes before parting ways with a friendly hug. Blade took to the air and flew for the elevators lit with blue lights, and Aquis turned on heel and strode with purpose towards the base portal.
What had been discussed was unclear, but what was certain was that in this time of uncertainty for hunters a member of the Nighthunters had made contact with two highranking members of The Corporation. -
Oh thank god I'm not alone. I was starting to get all worried. I tried both IE and Firefox and both give the same error message for me. Hopefully it's a small hiccup *fingers crossed*

Taking firm hold of Alphaea's hand Hailey gave a small nod before activating her teleporter. The pair of Humanity First recruits were gone in a flash, whisked back to the Isles and away from the madness in Kings Row.
Stepping foot on the streets of Sharkhead Isle once more Hailey promptly threw the teleportational device into the sea. "Ain't havin' no one trackin' me no further than this" she muttered to herself, annoyed. Not only had she had to ditch a piece of tech she was still itching for a fight. Maybe it was time to hit the cages.. -
"Screw that!" Came Hailey's blunt response as she swiftly pocketed the dead man's wallet "I ain't here t'call amb'lances. We're outta here" She concluded, shifting her focus back to her teacher to whom she offered the hand she'd offered to Soapbox just moments ago. The porter was still good to cover two people and there was nothing more for either of them here.
-
Quote:Hailey carefully observed the other woman for a moment. For a split second it felt like some sort of twisted joke, one of the uptight teachers she'd been sent to months ago decked in black with the vitruvian symbol printed neatly on her chest. It didn't take long for the teenager to recover however and soon she was sneering slightly behind her mask."Shall we leave while we can, miss, or do you want to wait for Britanic's autograph?"
"That school ain't no place fer me" She stated clearly and defiantly before glancing to Soapbox's remains
"But there ain't much more I c'n do here. So gimme two and we'll bail" She promised swiftly before tugging her mask up further to block out the awful stench as best as possible before setting to looking over the mess that made up the former Humanity First member's body. Waste not was the way of survival, besides she wasn't going to take the heat if he had something important on him and it got into hero hands. -
The girl gave a small disapproving click of her tongue before replying. "Next time yer under fire from summat that can do that" she nodded to Soapbox's remains "You try rememberin' what all the stupidass combos of red an' white mean. Was a Longbow, official'r rogue I dunno, but still a damn candy"
-
Resecuring her mask over her lower face the young woman leant over the edge of the fire escape to look at the new arrivals in the alleyway. "It was some longbow chump" she snarled before vaulting the edge of the escape and landing neatly in a crouch on the ground "Sicko took his arm as a trophy an' all" she murmured as she approached the rest of Soapbox's remains, still smattered in gore from his explosion.
((Whisper grabbed a 'stray limb' before porting away)) -
-
She didn't register the change in the Longbow agent's movements until it was too late. Peering back over the fire escape she caught a glimpse of him grabbing Soapbox's arm.
"WHAT THE HELL?" She yelled loudly "WHAT SORTA SICKO DOES THAT?!" she demanded as the man temeported from view leaving her with the twisted remnants on the alleyway floor. Inwardly she cursed, unsure what to do, she was already untrusted without teleporting back to the Isles with a bucket of Humanity First remains. But on the other hand maybe leaving him would be worse. Or maybe, just maybe he'd want people to know what was happening, should she make more of a scene?
Suddenly she felt her age. Young, and more than a little lost. -
A growled expletive escaped the teen as the horrendous scene played out in front of her, hands balled into fists once more she scanned all vantage points above the alley. Whatever was happening to Soapbox she couldn't stop it, and if the stomach churning scent in her nostrils was anything to go by there was no time to save him in.
What she could get however was a little payback before she got out of this huge mess. Spotting the sniper on the roof her eyes narrowed and she set off at a quick pace, seemingly not caring at the stink of burning skin and the smattering of gore that hit her leather jacket as the hideous blisters over Soapbox began to burst. Running and jumping she grabbed hold of a fire escape and clambered up onto it before storming up the metal stairs, determined to get to Whisper's location before he got away. -
With a nod she moved swiftly closing the space between her and Soapbox, knowing that time was likely short for them. Someone up themselves and all selfrighteous was bound to be along any second to try to arrest them at best or be one of those dark avenger types at worst.
"We've done enough, we're gettin' outta here" She declared firmly offering her left hand out to him as she claimed a small teleportational device from her pocket with her right. "Enough t'get us both t'the Isles" -
Disgusted as the shiny hero decided to push himself between her and the monsterous creation the blonde teen took a step back. Typical, the capes always thought they were better and more capable than everyone else. The anger in her grew further, yet in the moment she was forced to disengage she registered her surroundings again. Out of the corner of her eye she caught Soapbox's desperate bid for freedom and instinctively knew that that couldn't end well.
Turning on heel she ran at full speed through the panicked crowd, not caring who she barged into or knocked over in the process. Hearing the shout behind her only one word filtered through the sound of her heartbeat pounding in her ears 'Good', he deserved it for trying to grandstand and not being quick enough. If you're not quick or strong enough you die, it was the way of fighting.
Crashing out into the alleyway not long after Soapbox she fiercely yanked down the mask obscuring the lower half of her face and raised her voice "Hey!" She called out to grab his attention. -
The young blonde looked down at the vitruvian symbol splashed across her chest fir a split second and the thought of removing or hiding it didn't even register in her mind. All she had was anger, pure and simple fury as the greyskinned man spoke. So many things had gone wrong in her life, all at the hands of people with powers and now she was free of them she found all opportunities in her life taken from her by the 'supers', all she knew was fighting but she had no shiny aura nor laser beam eyes so nobody seemed to care. And now, not only did she have the mutants and mages to compete with but genetically engineered freaks to overshadow and to steal any hope she had at a future. Her fists tightening and her tired eyes becoming more alive, ablaze with what she felt was righteous anger, she kept crouched in her chair, paused to strike at the first opportune moment.
Then she saw it, Chimera moved forward, focused on Soapbox above all others, distracted enough to get a solid blow in. Catapulting herself forwards she didn't care if she'd be the first into the fray, she had to help stop this, not only for herself but the others in Humanity First, they too deserved a voice. Moving with the practiced grace of an experienced fighter despite her apparent young age the girl, who on closer inspection had to be in her late teens at most, threw a solid punch. With precision and timing she caught the much taller woman in the abdomen, the strike not only landing but giving pause to the living weapon.
((That was a 6! So knowing my luck there'll be a lot of 1s from here on!))
((Also, in case my descriptions thus far suck, here's a screenshot of the Humanity First recruit)) -
Not long before 7.30pm, Crowne Memorial Hall, Kings Row.
Head hung low a young woman adjusted her battered leather jacket over her cropped shirt emblazoned with the Humanity First logo. Her eyes, slightly tired yet determined, were all the more striking thanks to the ninja mask covering the lower half of her face and the bandana holding her mousey blonde hair in place. Despite her unfamiliarity with the other newer recruits of Humanity First she gave a simple nod in greeting before hopping up and into a seat, heavily booted feat hit the seat first. Landing in a crouched position she balled her hands, covered in soiled adn bloodied wraps, into fists and scanned the crowd, alert to all around her and looking set to pounce at any moment. -

Quote:"Feel free to geek out!" Becky cheerily replied with a slightly dorky giggle of her own "If you can't be a nerd at a con where can you be one?""Oh no, I'm kind of a fan of all of them, I was just going to follow you to see where you went, I'll try not to 'geek out' if we someone really famous like Statesman or Back Alley Brawler..."
Terrance let out what can only be described as a cross between a chuckle and a schoolgirl giggle.
Slowly she gave an amicable shrug before nodding in the direction of The Militia's stand "Shall we start over in that direction? It looks like there are a few heroes you could ask for autographs over there"
Quote:Over her shoulder, he saw the guys with laser swords coming around for another pass, this time with what seemed to be two people in gorilla suits in tow. He momentarily reached down to grab her arm, thought better of it, and instead nodded over to where she and Starjet had been standing moments before.
"We should get out of this, it's madness!"
"Oh right, some people don't like the blinking out of existance thing. I can get us over there in an eyeblink if you want.." she offered brightly as she glanced up at him "But we can do the pushing through people if teleporting makes you queasy, I've had so many people almost throw up on me because of unwanted shiftings, it's never fun!" -
Quote:"Not a bother at all" Becky replied cheerily "I'm here on my own so having company would be great" She continued, finding the excitable toaster's upbeat attitude infectious."Oh I wouldn't want to be a bother, you're probably busy trying to get autographs of your own...I mean if you're going to a heroes booth then sure I'll come with you, this place is huge...I wouldn't know where to start!"
Terrance was as chipper as ever, his voice having slightly electronic undertones to it, there was so much to do here and certainly not enough time to do everything...he decided to just follow his new friend and try not to make a nuisance of himself.
Shifting her hands into the back pockets of her comfortable cargo trousers she glanced around the convention hall, hazel eyes scanning the bright costumes and tables adorned with action figures, DVDs and comics. "Do you have a favourite hero you really want to see? I can accompany you get their autograph, maybe get one of my own if it's someone I'm a fan of" She rattled off. Talking to a toaster wasn't overly strange to her, the notion of hunting out autographs of people she'd possibly have to fight in the field one day however did sit oddly with her.
Quote:Then, through the body of the crowd, he saw them - Starjet and Irradiant, chatting animatedly beside a booth. Mustering up his enthusiasm, he put his shoulder to the crowd, and began slowly making a path fror himself
He was a little surprised at his readiness to approach the celebrated heroes, especially after his hesitation contacting metaConnect just the week before...
He had come -this- close to not making that call, too. So no more hesitations...
With this in mind, he ducked confidently under the papier-mache wings blocking his view...and ran face-first into a crowd of Phalanx cosplayers being chased by some guys waving badly faked laser swords.
"So, this is capecon, huh?"
He couldn't help but laugh
Without waiting for a response, she blinked out of existance, reappearing beside Will. "Hey you!" She greeted him easily, her tail flicking eagerly from side to side, showing her happiness at being at the convention and bumping into both him and Starjet. Her smile however faded a little and she gave a small squeak of surprise as she was almost hit in the head by a pair of 'wings' crafted mostly of cardboard and tinfoil. -
Quote:Offering up a dazzling grin Becky very carefully shook the small mechanical hand. "Hey there Terence, I'm Becky, it's good to meet ya" She introcduced herself, the slight English twang in her voice slowly starting to show through more firmly. His audio receptors picked up the compliment and spun around to seek out it's owner...spotting Becky through the crowd he very carefully maneuvers his way over to Becky.
"Oh thank you miss, they can be a bit hard to stablize at times but you learn fast..." He held out a small mechanical hand for her to shake.
"My name is Terence, are you a superhero? can I have your autograph? I get so nervous around people..."
"I'm not a her though, I'm afraid. I'd be a bit of a fail hero if I told you I was one though as this'd be my secret identity" She babbled a little before giving a dismissive wave of her hand. "I am an inventor though, I make unique devices, weapons, special effects, that sort of thing. I've made things for a couple of heroes, nobody big though."
The grin never leaving her face Becky gave an amicable shrug as though having a conversation with a floating toaster was the world's most normal thing to do. "You don't need to get nervous though, you're doing fine." She assured the device before looking around "It is fairly crowded though, so if you want any help or company getting around, I could do that" -
Quote:Becky spun around at the small whumming sound, she had been hoping to get a nosey at some techy bits today, but she really hadn't expected the small wave of geekjoy she felt at seeing the sight in front of her. As an inventor and nerd she'd been all sorts of enthralled by the story of the walkie-talkie toasters and despite having matured a little after discovering she was pregnant she still had the distinct urge to hug the floating appliance.there was motorized whirr followed by a dull whum noise as the owner of the little voice hovered to head height.
"That, is an impressive balance job on the anti-grav" She intead noted aloud with a bright smile as she watched the toaster curiously. -
Quote:Irradiant held up a single finger at the other heroine's words "Touché, good point well made!" She responded with a giggle "Besides Nik can man the stand for a while" she added, nodding over to the teenager sat at the Metaconnect booth who was wearing black bunny ears and glaring daggers at her older sister, who merely waved back in response.Starjet shook her head and grinned wryly. "Have it your way, D. But, doing something silly and dangerous is hardly a unique trait amongst us, and neither is having dangerous powers" And she points towards Fusionette across the hall, who was cheerfully posing for a photo beside a Positron-alike.
But then her eyes twinkle mischeviously "Besides, I thought you wanted to show people how much more effective a duo can be?"
"If you're up for a slight glowy green boost I'd be happy to help alongside for your power display. We can show these guys how the Nuclear 90 event has manifested an odd variety of powers." -
Quote:"Oh, sure! Take care and have fun!" Sara called brightly after the rapidly departing man, all the while wondering how he could be so shy."Um.. Yeah, good fun. Umm... You're gonna have to excuse me. I got um Comics and stuff to look at."
'You really do meet all sorts of people at cons'
Shrugging a little she headed onwards giving a small wave to Suraya as she passed, still thankful for the interview the Desert Princess and her boyfriend Blade Racer had done for the magazine's last issue. -
More than a little at home at conventions Becky bounced through the crowds with excitement. Usually she attended conventions for video games and all things techy, but today she'd made an exception. Of course a wanted villain turning up in Paragon City was a risk, especially considering the fact the building was filled with capes and her choice of costume. Unable to resist she'd put together a costume that closely resembled the combatwear of her partner, Headbreaker, although she'd cropped her t-shirt to make it a little more femenine, especially as it was getting to the point she'd soon no longer be able to show off her stomach. Usually in good shape, Becky's stomach now had the slightest curve to it, hinting to the observant and those that knew her well that her unborn baby was growing and settling.
Briefly she considered approaching Starjet, who she knew had had the occasional interactions with The Corporation in the past, but as a young heroine dressed in black and neon green teleported over she scrapped the idea and instead wandered contentedly, thrusting her hands in the pockets of her baggy camo trousers. 'No wonder Bill wears things like this' she mused silently 'these are damn comfy' -
Quote:"Mystery it is" Sara agreed with a supportive smile at seeing the small blush edge into his cheeks. She knew the kind thing to do would be to let the poor guy go but she loved talking to metafans and she couldn't help but the think the shyness coming from the impressively built man was adorable."Name!... Umm... How about we go for that mystery option. The guys at work would have a field day if they see the pictures and realise it's me."
"And don't worry so much, really, you look amazing. I'm sure the guys at your work would only be having a field day because they really couldn't pull off the spandex look." As though on cue an overweight 'Synapse' and 'Positron' (complete with 'armour' made from shiny lycra almost splitting at the seams) wandered past. "It's all fun though right? There's so much serious out there, it's nice to escape into a world of bright and showy from time to time"
