We even sent the cutest girl we could find find to chat with him. Still he would not give up the details.

Probably would have worked on James Bond...

Statesman, on the other hand, has 6 slotted "willpower".

    Thanks for the confirm godeity.

Any other attendees get some juicy info out of States' and crew?
  3. Bountytaker

    WonderCon

Anyone who attended have any interesting game news to report?

On another thread, someone said there were fliers announcing issue 4 in March. Can anyone confirm that report?
  4. I would think it would come out prior to the anniversary celebration/event. And it would have to have a bit of space, if possible. So, i'll say either March 15th or 22nd.

Here's an additional question: Will Issue four have an "event" with it, like the Rularuu invasion and the 5th Council war? Something involving the backstory about who funded the arenas perhaps?
  5. Since TV is all pulp, could Challenger Tech. be a reference to the character from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World"?

(sorry for the multiple posts, reading a bit, then posting as I go)
  6. Eastgate Park, I think, is because the "Hollows" is actually called "Eastgate", which is a reference to The Lord of the Rings. (Eastgate, or "the Hollows" was added with Issue 2, A Shadow of the Past, which is a LotR chapter title)
  7. For Founder's Falls:

I always thought Louis Forest refered to Louis XVI, the king of France who helped the American Revolutionaries by giving monetary and military support.

Hutchinson could refer to the Governor of Mass., Thomas Hutchinson, who was a Tory, supported the crown, and wrote some letters to King George asking for troops in Boston. The letters were leaked, and Hutchinson was forced to flee.

Don't know if that's what they were going for, but it's the best guess I have.
  8. Congrats to all.

The only one, so far, that I've seen an liked enough to put as my own wallpaper, is the one that won. So, I guess I agree with the decision.

Nice job everybody, even those that did not get posted. I am envious of your artistic talents.

Hmm. A quick google shows that chapter 34 of "The Count of Monte Cristo" is called "The Colosseum"...

So maybe the chapter signifies the transition from issue 3 to 4?
PvP is a given, hence Colosseum, where the gladiators fought in Rome.
From what I read (I've never read the book before), The Count of Monte Cristo is a story about the revenge and hatred of an innocent man (the Count), and in particular, chapter 34 concerns the financial losses of one of the Count's foes. Maybe some kind of storyline concerning Statesman and some new enemy of his?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks like we have a winner. Well done. Five stars for you.

Issue 3 had a mutiny, a la Treasure Island, so, what does issue 4 have that relates to The Count? Just the revenge? Someone wrongly accused?

    Something to think about.
  10. I'm hoping that date was a typo. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to pick up my flame proof clothes from the cleaners.
  11. If I had to guess, I'd say the badge. Gotta be the easiest to implement, right.

Plus, badges were a big component of the Halloween event.
  12. Great choices devs. All look very, very worthy. Congrats to all the winners on some great pics...

you are a braver lot than I

PS For those of us who may never come across the winners in game, can someone tell us what that special title is. Just curious.

Any comment to the rumors that the 5th Column are being dumped due to German laws regarding Nazi representation?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's going on with the 5th Column? I'm afraid you'll have to wait for Issue #3 to find out...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Statesman and crew have trained you well
  14. Welcome Bridger. Must say, you picked an auspicious day to start. Try not to drown in all the Marvel posts.

Well, I'm from the US, but since no one has posted yet, I might as well start things off with a very popular question:

Any comment to the rumors that the 5th Column are being dumped due to German laws regarding Nazi representation?

    Again, welcome to the boards
  15. Could an offline SG members act as an NPC, and not accrue debt if they are defeated? In other words, they can provide "minimal" support to the base, but the owner doesn't get debt when/if their character was defeated while they were away.

I like the idea of hiring guard NPC's with influence. Nice suggestion.
  16. The chapter titled "Council to War" in Treasure Island revolves around Jim, the protagonist, telling the captain and his friends about Long John Silver's plan to mutiny. So, in basic terms, the "council" are the good guys, and the "war" is the planned mutiny.

So, I'd say we're looking at a mutiny among the 5th. 5th fighting themselves would explain the extra bases popping up(both sides need bases). And, it would explain why some are surrendering (would rather be arrested than captured by the splinter group).

The question is, how did this mutiny form? The mentioning of the White Rabbit suggests it came from Portals. Possibly Requeim vs. Axis Amerika. Perhaps were/vamps vs. non? Perhaps robots vs. humans.

As a guess, I would say you'll know it's happening when you see 5th fighting 5th in the streets. And, you'll have to choose which side to help(which, btw, leads into Statesman's comments about our decisions affecting the game world, ie, we decide which side survives the 5th vs. 5th battle)
  17. I'm looking foward to this, just hope it happens AFTER work this time.

And, just cause I'm a bit paranoid, can anyone confirm that the "events" on the test server tonight are NOT what this article is referring too.

I thought the reason all the villians kept getting out of jail was that bail bonds company that I always see the posters for in Perez?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same here. I always assumed those signs were a clue to CoV. Figured you would reappear in the Bail Bondsman office. It's something you can have in every zone, and can be pretty non-descript, much like the first floor of the hospitals.

But, looking a Recluse's response, I'm now thinking they haven't decided yet. Interesting.
  19. 1) Thanks for the post Manticore. Has made this the most popular thread I ever started.

    2) BBhumeBB should get the astute credit, since I see that he posted this theory before I did. I had not read his post, so did not know when I posted yesterday, honest. And, I always give credit where credit is due, so well done BBhumeBB.

    3) The issue with the missing article "A". If you notice, the title of the second chapter of the Fellowship of the Ring is The Shadow of the Past. The title of the second issue of CoH is A Shadow of the Past. So, the articles don't necessarily need to match. Hence, A Council of War versus Council of War. But, its just a theory, so the other book may prove to be it also.

    4) Please, please, please, if we get a new water zone, new water based villains, and water based epic AT's, can we get water based costumes(fins) and vehicles? It would really help out my main.

    5) Forgot about Through the Looking Glass. Makes me want to search the chapter some more for an insight into the next update.

Keep the speculation going, I love this stuff. Later.

you must be like that guy from A Beautiful Mind...do you look for things like this in everything?? (I do it too..but most of the time its because of my...condition lol)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing that interesting. Just some free time and Google
  21. The chapter entitled Council of War is the chapter where they discover Treasure Island.

The Council of War refers to Jim revealing to his friends that he overheard Long John Silver's plans to mutiny.

    Again, water zone? Mutiny?

I love these little cryptic games
  22. Well, issue two was called "A Shadow of the Past", which just so happened to be the title of the second chapter of "The Fellowship of the Ring". Oh, and "Eastgate" is referenced as being part of Moria in the world of LoTR.

So, going by the theory that the chapter titles refer to great works of literature, I did a little research into the new title: Issue 3 A Council of War.

The only thing I could come up with is Treasure Island. Chapter 12 (1 plus 2 equals 3?) of Treasure Island is called Council of War.

So, is this title a hint at the possibility of a water zone? Perhaps pirate villains? Or some sort of treasure?

Just some speculation I'll put out there. Enjoy.
