You know who might make a better dominatrix?

    Dominatrix.

    Just throwing that out there.

Batman regularly defeats the likes of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy.

Superman defeats Live Wire, Volcana, and even Granny Goodness (who was voiced by freaking Ed Asner, yikes!).

Neither hero has often felt called upon to punch any of these women in the face in order to arrange their capture.

    Statesman sucks at heroism.

Also, where do you punch a faceless evil? What will you do now, hero? What Will You Do?

I apreciate the invite Bill, but I don't actually want the conflict to end. See, as long as the war rages, I have an unlimited liscence to loot and kill.

Hang on, I think I see some tragic victims about to be caught in the crossfire.

    Our Hero ladies and gentlemen.

On topic. Arakhn. Although if Clamor actually did staple her fishnets up, then that deserves at least a one night stand. I have a self rez.

    You lost me at Fusionette.
  6. If you want to that's fine. It doesn't really do anything to help us, with Golgothan already having given us access to his base we can use, but if that's what you want, then I don't care.
  7. 93.94%. I have no idea off the top of my head what the aggro cap is.

I just know I've gone over it when some of my herd stops attacking and starts wandering away from me. But in those moments I am not usually counting heads.
  8. Blood Spectre

    Round 3 P.P.

Fire Melee and Fire Armor Stalkers, Ice Melee and Ice Armor Stalkers, Stone Stalkers of some kind (not with Granite, think something more like Marvel's Sandman).
Ice Melee and Ice Armor Brutes, Broadsword Brutes, Martial Arts Brutes.
    Psychic Blast Corruptors
    Dark Miasma Controllers
Illusionist Masterminds. Or Dominators, I don't care. Both if you can swing it.
    Dark/Dark Dominators.
    Super Strength Scrappers
Energy Aura Tanks and Scrappers. Not because I think they will be good, but because giving these powers to hero ATs will cause them to be re-evaluated and made good, finally.
Martial Arts or something very like it for Blasters.

Archery Corruptors made me very happy, so I am content to wait, but there's still a lot of PP that could be done.

I don't want to stifle creativity and I do believe ice should have the full spectrum, but the point of having a full spectrum is there are colors other than black.
    1) I'm only coloring my powers black until we get a darker option.

    2) I actually have powers in all the colors I feel are thematically apropriate for those characters. Yellow and white lightning, red darkness, tan regeneration, yellow invulnerability, black psi blasts, orange and black fire, white and brown sonics. My Ice Dominator happens to have black as the most apropriate theme for her powers. I don't see why my options should be limited just because you don't like black.

    3) The term Black Ice, while not directly referencing ice that is litterally black, does suggest a hidden threat, and is a theme I would like to be able to expand on.

It's a nitpick, but one which I am evidently prepared to defend. To the death! Yar!

  10. I never even saw her. I saw her dialogue and started firing arrows, but before I got her in my sights she was already dead.

    Er, moreso, anyway.

A little bummed that there doesn't seem to be any way to get a black ice effect, but that's just a nitpick.
  12. as for double xp weekend, I have all day Thursday and Friday, but work Saturday and Sunday. If you want to do something when I'm around, holla'.

How do you plan to handle the contacts who give missions out of order? Will we try to get everyone to the arc before we start or are we running yours no matter what?

Depending on the answer I'll either try to get o first mission of arcs before tuesdays, or keep my mission drop available.

Lastly, any plans for double xp weekend? I'm not available saturdays until really late, but can be there any of the other days.

    Gol-
The plan is to get as many people who want the arc into the arc as possible, and towards that end, we'll be trying to clear out the non arc missions for the people who get jerked around by the contact first. I understand that not everyone cares that much about their merits as they do about just playing, but for those of us who do care, I want to get as many of us the merits as possible. And for my own part, I care a whole lot about my merits.

I think as we advance in levels I will try to schedule more SFs and Respecs in, because that way everyone can get a good number of merits without having to do the arc mission hokey pokey. But right now there aren't too many options for that.
  14. Good work last night guys! Team 1 had a pretty straight run through the Mayhem and into Krylov's first arc. We hit level 15 so we wont be getting the second one right now.

Next week I want to run Willy Wheeler, so anyone who wants merits should get him unlocked before Tuesday!

  17. We definately ran two paper missions in Cap last week. I have one to go on Sphinx.

Regarding mayhem tactics. All good advice. My group didn't have as much trouble with our Mayhem on week 1 as Golgothans did, and the main reason is we stayed together.

I hadn't considered that we might outlevel Krylov. If we do, I would rather start working on a higher level contact like Willy Wheeler or whoever introduces Wellman. I certainly am not going to suggest we turn off xp just to get Krylov's merits. There are merits out there we can get without turning off xp and extending the pre-stamina grind.

  19. For clarity's sake I am not calling for across the board buffs. I'm just saying that would be preferable to what was suggested earlier, which was reworking the entire defense system we have. If we were starting from zero, maybe it could be done better. But take a long hard look at PVP if you want to see what happens when we decide to build anew something that basically works already. Not that I mind new PvP. I didn't mind old PvP either. But I can't find anyone who thinks the changes have grown the PvP audiance. I'm not looking to repeat that sort of thing in regulal game play.

I'm just saying look, we enjoy a wonderful diversity of options in this game. I can't think of an MMO that has such variety in it's classes. But if you start smashing down the outliers, then you sort of push people who want to perform at the peak of the game's challenges down very narrow roads. It's a path just as harmful to our wonderfully diverse game as power creep would be.

Obviously, the decisions about Defense were well thought out, and have been for a long time. If they weren't, there is just no way they would have made VEATS the way they are, for example. A couple of them can soft cap an entire team without even using IOs. Clearly, defense is working the way they want it to. And again, there are more than a few enemies that just utterly ignore it, so I think it's okay if it is very good aside from those kryptonite mobs.

The real problem is that it's so much easier to cover yourself when only dealing with three positions for defense, rather than having to use typed resistance, which requires a much broader amount of protection, and has less options. I agree with people's assesments that in general, resistance is undervalued. I'd like to see it made better regardless of what happens to defense. I think that way back when this was all designed there was the thought that since resistance was less vulnerable to the vagaries of the RNG, that it's consistancy would balance it out against the randomness that defense offers. I don't believe however that it played out that way, just that someone thought it would.

I really think in this specific scenario a boost to resistance is called for. Or at least far more called for than a nerf to defense. And I should point out that I have and play characters at the far outliers of both types of protection, and I do enjoy and do well with both of them.

Thus, you've just created a new baseline, but at the expense of all of the work involved to do so. Meanwhile, bumping a few things down to bring them closer to what other sets can do is much, much easier, and takes much less time.

That does not mean that nothing should be bumped up, just that a trend of ONLY bumping things up is a bad idea, as it's a neverending cycle.
There are more builds that can not run at the upper tiers of difficulty now (with the advent of additional difficulty options in I-16) than there are ones that can. So I think a general boost would be in order.

No it isn't. There exists and upper level of difficulty in the game. It is there for people who can play it. As long as there exists more difficult options, then there should be builds that can survive at that difficulty. I think it would be better to make more builds capable of hitting the greater challenges, as opposed to the proposition that there should be less. The only real reasons to disagree with me are apathy and selfishness, neither of which do I consider a valid argument.

    1) God-like performance (solo) was not intended to be available 100% of the time and is not needed.
    2) The main reason is so that you can have better normal performance from powers without fear of hitting god-like with no effort. Weave should be better than it is. Other +defense powers should probably be better than they are.
    3) It is unfair. For example, SR and Invuln and Shields and Traps and FF can get to the soft-cap with less effort. Even if you change IOs so that they grant a bonanza of +resistance, the mechanics do not allow you to approach what soft-cap defense allows.
    1) The performance is hardly God like. Soft Capped builds can and do die. There are plenty of things in the game that can get around your defense. Which isn't to say that a soft capped character isn't very, very good.

    2) Removing a soft capped build will not make Weave better. It will make it worse. Right now the thought that I might need it to soft cap is the only reason I would even consider that power.

    3) It is unfair. So let's bring the other builds up. You don't think 90% resistance is as good as 45% defence? I am not sure I agree. My Electric Brute with 90% energy resist farms Rikti in a way that my soft capped build would have a lot more trouble with. I would agree that Resist based sets could use a boost, but I think really, at 90% resist, you should be able to fight anything dealing that type of damage and do just fine. If every Resist set could hit their cap easier, I think more people would roll those sets. Of course the biggest problem with that, is that only Brutes and Tanks can get to 90, with Scrappers and Stalkers having a much lower ceiling, which is absurd, since both those classes can get as much defence as they want.

So in short, 90% resist caps for everyone. More ability for resistance sets to reach their cap in at least one or two types of damage. Let's build upwards, not tear good things down.
  24. Okay Legends, tonight we leave our mark on King's Row! We have one more paper mission to run first, then we strike at the heart of Paragon City. Regarding the mayhem, this is the general plan. We will move directly to the bank, not using travel powers, but not stopping to fight if we can avoid it. We will gather in the lobby of the bank to put down the ambushes we trigger along the way. From there we will fight our way into the vault as a group, grab the loot, and defeat whatever hero thinks they can stop us. Once that is done, we will swing around and grab the badge for whoever wants it.

Then we'll rendevous with Dimitri Krylov. We'll try to run his arc all at the same time, so that Auto-Complete will allow us all to get merits. Therefor, if any members of the team do not get his arc right off the bat, we will try to help them clear those side missions first, so we can all run the arc together. Or as many of as possible, at least.

See you in Cap Au Diable, at 8 o clock!

Longbow are not the only source of -resistance villain side either. Spend any amount of time in St Martial and you'll encounter ungodly amounts of Wailers, which are all Sonic, all the time.

So yeah, Red Side has plenty of - Res to go around.
