Since so many seem to be asking for multiple powers, how does this sound:

No more than 20 points can be spent on one power.
There's no limit to how many points can be earned.
After 50, each point is awarded when you've gained enough XP to level.

To get two "maxed" powers would be the equivalent of getting to level 72. No easy feat, but would be an incentive to keep playing your level 50's - being able to wow n00bs under Atlas with a string of customised powers would be an acceptable substitue for the legend system, methinks?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Um, no.

No matter how long it might take to get enough points for 10 such powers, it will happen. Our coal could start doing 3 LRSFs a day, and Doors in WB or farm RV if not enough for the LRSF. That would be a maxed sig power per week, maybe two, could be less even.

And then I could make a 10 power attack chain and prolly solo AVs and Heroes on any char. I'd say keep it to one maxed power, tho maybe you could make more then one power, but you'll have to divide those points among those powers.
  2. hmmm, just how powerful are you expecting Sig powers to be?

If you/we make just one, I'm expecting teir 5-6 tops

If we can make make more then one, prolly 2 teir 3, or 3 teir 2, might make 5-6 teir 1, but doubt you can get much use out of 6 teir 1 powers.

    Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For any one who's studied philosophy seriously, and not just memorized a bunch of interesting saying, then you'd have found out that this statement was re-examined and "fixed" long ago

    It now goes:

The ILLUSION of absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It's only when there's some measure of power out there that you don't have and try to control it at all costs, most likely because you think it's a threat to you, that your illusion of beliving your power is absolut that you become corrupt in trying to claim it

This is the difference between God and Satan. This point works whether you believe in them as real, or just as concepts. God has power over all creation, there is no power he doesn't have, there is nothing that can entice or corrupt him. Satan, believes himself better then God, and in trying to set himself up as all powerful, has become absolutly corrupted.

Now again, you need not believe in either. And even if you are an atheist, there's no need to refute the point as a threat to your world view. It's understanding an idea of having absolut power, and the idea of not having abolute power and becoming obssed with achiving it. If you don't believe in God, Satan, or any cosmic beings of any sort, it still doesn't change the definition of these beings (real or not) or the ideas and concepts of them.
  4. I suggest people read the 1st post again and consider the following:

The idea as suggested, and add to that any balancing by the DEVs, it looks like your complete power is unlocked and built in sections. Unless we assume that we get at least a complete bare bones power at 33, it won't be doing anything for awhile.

And then there's the matter of where we can spend points and when.

Can points gotten at a level you unlock something only be spent on what you unlocked? And like the situation were you can only put 4 slots, 3 extra, in your 49 power, so can you only put some many points in something you unlock at 45. And they may also make it like your primaries and secondaries where you can only chose certain powers till later levels.

For example, as is, you basically have 18 levels to build your power, it may be you can't add to the magnitude of a power at every level, but that magnitude increases are spread out, so that even is you chose every one, you'll only get it to 3 or 4. Or if not like this, just like a power can only have 6 slots total, it may be certain things cost more then one point, so in effect, you'll only be able to "6 slot" your sig power at best.

Assuming this goes live, I wouldn't worry too much about the balance, the DEVs will work out most kinks. Not that I assume it'll be perfect and need no fine tunning down the line after going live either. But I don't think for a second the DEVs will somehow accidently allow us to make anything close to a teir 9 power, or a teir 7 or 8 power, even teir 6 may be pushing it. Most likely, we'll be able to make a pretty nice "6 slotted" teir 4 or 5 power.

This caused myself an inspiration. What if, at key levels, one could pick a Back Story Power in lieu of two slots?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If the advantages they gave felt compairable to what you can get from a slot, sure. But there can be quite a range in slot value, depending on what power it's in, and what you might have put in it. But generally, people think we have too few, especially after 47, and threads ask now and they for ways to earn extra slots.

While not a bad idea, I'd rather it happened some other way then to cost us our already valuable slots.
  6. I like the ideas here, but except for the rogue pool, find them very overpowered. If it were up to me to balance this and fit it into the game, no bonuses (like merchant) would be more then 2-5% Lone Wolf looks the most unbalanced, that could be a huge difference over time in xp, even a 5% xp bonus would mean you're lvl 50 whiles others at 47.5

Also, I'd keep these rather low powered all the way around, make them inherant powers that you automatically get at like 8th, 14th, 20th, and 26th, and make then auto, no clicks or toggles.

In essence, these are vocations, and such powers shouldn't be on par with any "super powers"
  7. I like it a lot. Looks pretty balanced as is, and could be tweaked easily with the choices we're given.
