We'll need a tper or for everyone to understand that this TF will be very hard work... o wait! my PB has group fly1111 w00t
Plight -
When I actually had snipe I could go from out of aggro range to melee range with one interrupt reducer with only single slotted sprint (not saying woo go me, just that slotted swift etc is for melee intense builds mainly imo, not so much the intred snipe approach), now i have a lot more slots and movement enhancing powers I'm more dangerous i think.
Plight -
No Prob Comp, i'm sure we'll hear about what the score is from one of your RL buddies or you can get me on msn
take care and have a safe move etc.

i agree snipes arent bad dmg, but as i have posted in pve guide threads lots and lots of times, whats the point of essentially wasting aim and BU then spending 3-5 seconds getting into range for blasts/melees. if you want to place the range game then its far better dmg to use a chain of the standard range ST powers, maybe open with snipe, but you list proper squishy ATs, not even blasters have much to fear any more from snipes.
i agree melee blasters (full blappers) are not the only capable PvPers, they are pretty poor actually against faster opponents and those with higher HPs, i think what im trying to say for the millionth time is that blasters too often neglect half of their build, some go all range, some all melee, both of these have severe weakness imo. personally my blaster has 3 ranged attacks and 3 melee attacks, he has 2 ranged forms of control and 2 melee forms of control (holds and drains) plus other things. as i said before you wouldnt catch a troller not using their secondary and still doing well usually, nor any other AT, so i dont see why blasters should be all about the primary or all about the secondary, but about both... and just as a thoguth before someone chimes in that my argument revolves around ATs focussing on their primary and using their secondary as support, in many cases this isn't true, and especially for blasters; 'why?' i hear you ask. because the blaster secondary essentially doesnt exist anywhere else in the game, sure the melees belong to tanker secondaries, but there's plenty going on in the blaster secondaries that you don't see many other places, and mainly combined in the way they are, which i think is the most important thing im trying to get at.
bah, blasters should have stacks of dmg in melee and at range, those that cant control do not fare as well as those who can. lalalaa ored of myself now :/
o and Chap, GL with the ice elec, they do quite well from what I've seen

Your a broken record plight... ! :P
Can you hold over a Brute or Stalkers mez resist? - No.
Can i knock back over a Brute or Stalkers mez resist? - Yes.
Therefore - is the status effect granted by Energy better than Electricity when fighting high mez resist characters - yes.
Energy primary allows the glass cannon to stay at range and safe and allows PvP blasters to get out of the Blapper mindset.
[/ QUOTE ]actually yes i can hold a brute or a stalker thru their protection, i was just doing it in RV, also, whats the point in staying at range with relatively poor dmg, most toons use both theor 1. and 2. powrs to fight, saying that you shouldnt melee is like saying a defender shouldnt attack or a controller shouldnt debuff. once u have ur control, KB or whatever, you should be in there with the cannon half of your glass cannon, infact, hitting them with the cannon.
so when i respec i'll be able to hold thru tank protections, like to see stun do that as effectively

Ah i also meant top point out that energy is massively resisted (i think energy blast does smashing too, which is also resisted. my blaster has like 20 and 30% res to these). while some of the powers will cut through, i don't really notice it when fighting 'PvP specced' energy blasters. imo a blaster primary should offer good ranged control and damage and i don't really see energy doing this.
not meaning to say it's poo, but in zones and arena it's always energy manipulation that gets me, not blast, even some guy in warburg who was dive bombing and sniping me wasn't having any success whereas if he had just run up and bashed me I would have died :/.
ice/, elec/ and sonic/ ftw!
Plight
P.S. Can we have a duel then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Plight, of course you know that electric powers count as energy damage
[/ QUOTE ]of course, although I'd like to see someone escape the ranged holds of elec which drop players restistance toggles. When was the last time you saw someone fight an energy blaster at range and them say "Oh noes1 He are KBed my toggles offz0r! :'(" lol, elec has the control to not need anything but energy damage tbh, fire has the damage unresisted but nothing else so tends to be no good alomne (or at all) and ice has the cold/fast/hold that all help. While elec as a primary is well know to be nowhere near as damaging as Ice blast, it offers more utility and especially when combined with elec manipulation.
I know i bang on, and I don't think that elec/elec/elc is the be all and end all of blasters, I just that any set with a hold is usually more use than a set without, the more utility the better (apart from AR/dev which has all the utility under the sun but is still appalling in comparison to almost any other blaster).
lalalalala i pwn jo0
o and far fewer people resist end drain than KB, draining people from range with a bog standard PvE elec all range blaster isn't impossible with some endmods.

Tagz, If there's room I don't see why you couldn't come, but I doubt there will be, I also doubt your level 38 WS can get on a level 40+ TF.
Yohan, 7pm BST is really late for a SSTF1, I suggest you make sure everyone has 8 hours or so spare and post a list of players and builds.

energy primary isnt that great, no high damage powers to shout about and only KB as a secondary effect (resisted totally by acrobatics). energy secondary i'm all for though

Aye, maybe will say a bit more about PvP, although the new PvP team idea is in there, I'd love a better pic of the SG colours, but my lappies a bit poo and my toon is a bit poo too, so any offers will be good.
deliberalty didn't submit the thing today as i had almost no feedback, so thanks for the posts etc, i'll get on it tomorrow hopefully

Well me thinks the base would be a good location for both heroes and villains group pics if possible can we get it done as early as possible?
[/ QUOTE ]The villains have access to the heroes base and vice versa. Maybe if we logged half the villains and took a pic in the hero base, then heroes swapped to villains and villains to heroes then took a pic in the villain base?

ok so here is what I will be submitting, it's only a draft. if you want to make changes pls quote the parts to be changed, highlist additions in blue and deletions in red please.

Supergroup Spotlight Submissions
Please answer all questions and include all the requested information in your submissions. Go into as much (or as little) detail as you like.
Notes about some questions are included in italics please remember that these are only suggestions, not requirements.
- What is the name of your Supergroup?
Order of the Cruciform Swords (Hero)
Order of the Crucified Swords (Villain) - What is your Supergroups Motto?
Justice through force. Mercy through Compassion. (Hero)
*i forgot this one lawl* - What are your Supergroups emblem and colours?
You can either describe them, or include screenshots to show them.
clicky - If your Supergroup has a website and/or message boards, whats the URL?
OotCS hero thread OotCS villain thread - Please list the character names of your Supergroups leaders and/or founders.
You can also include details of your current membership if you like.
Plight Trawler is the founder/leader of the OotCS - How did your Supergroup get started?
As with most of the following questions, weve left this as open as possible. You could supply a full history of your SG or a simple story of how you and a few people met on a mission and decided you got on well enough to form an SG.
The SG name and all themes come from Plight Trawler's last US SG on Protector. When he transferred to the EU and started over, a new SG was made in the hope that yet another group of positive, mature and fun loving gamers could be created to provide an environment for new and old alike to play CoH. - What is the overall goal or aim of your Supergroup?
This could be a single line mission statement, a fully developed in-game reason for your SGs existence, complete with backstory, or as simple as to have fun playing the game with friends.
The overall aim of the SG is, and always has been, to have fun with one another whilst making new friends and helping eachother in order to have fun as much as possible. Long term, the SG is aiming to get a fully functional base together for raids and SG exclusive missions/content. Recruitment is steady and the SG is growing each month with new players. On a social level the SG aims to set the highest, most exemplary standard in terms of manners and also gaming actions. - What does your Supergroup do?
This is probably the most open question of the lot, and is your chance to tell us and your fellow players whatever you want about your Supergroup and how it functions. Do you run regular Task Force nights for members? How is your Supergroup organised, and what is expected of members? Do you arrange in-game or out-of-game events? Anything and everything your SG does can be mentioned here.
The SG plays regularly, with most players logging on for between 1 and 12 hours a day. Whenever possible, members play characters at levels so that as many of the SG can be on a team as possible. Task Forces and Strike Forces are easy to arrange via the SG threads and often spontaneously in game. There's also a lot of socialising to be done, people sometimes just stand about and chat with friends. If you can imagine it in CoH terms, the SG can probably help you do it! Some members also host costume competitions, write fan fiction and draw members of the SG for fun in real life and post them on the SG threads for all to see. - What is your Supergroups finest moment or greatest achievement so far?
This could be the time you all got together for a night out in real life, the time you organised a Hami raid, the best mission you ran in a Supergroup team or anything else that sticks in your mind or has become legendary among your SG members.
The greatest sole monument to the SG members' commitment to one another to date would have to be the hero and villain bases. Millions of prestige have been earned and spent in order to get a functional base on both CoH and CoV with teleports available to all available zones, inspiration dispensers, resurrection rings, enhancement/inspiration/salvage storage and all the necessary items to complete SG only Strike Forces and Cathedral of Pain trials (when they go live).
Recently, in game, a group from the SG with the help of some friends, completed the Faathim The Kind Task Force, against the odds with the recent increase in difficulty of Arch-Villains. Outside of the game, several members of the SG have met at a comic convention in Brighton and had a blast together, and more recently than that, Plight Trawler has been shipping CoH/CoV boxes to a few SG members abroad where they can't get deliveries, it's all about doing as much as you can. - If your Supergroup has a base, please tell us about it.
Again, this could be the in-character story of how your SG found an abandoned office building and slowly developed it into a fully-functional, top of the line headquarters, a description of your existing base and/or your plans for the future, or anything else about your base that youd like to tell your fellow players about.
The base(s) is(are) an ongoing project, at the moment we have many of the basic facilities available, as well as an upgraded plot. Short term goals for the SG are to build the auxillary items to enhance Hit Points when defeated and teleported back to the base's infirmary. More mid-long term goals are to expand the plot more and to obtain an Item of Power to buff SG members' stats permanently. Base editing rights are granted to anyone who has been promoted to 4 of the 5 available ranks; however, if people want to have a go with the base, supervision can be arranged for them to do some editing.
In the bases there are provisions for storing enhancements, there is a store for 100 of each origin of enhancement, SG members are asked not to sell their enhancement drops, but rather to pool them together to save the group money and keep people with more up to date enhancements. Over level 20 or so Training Enhancements can be sold, and over level 30-40 or so (not finalised as the system is very new) then Dual Origin Enhancements may be sold too.
The hero base is all technology based at the moment, and the villain base is (almost) all arcane. A long term goal is to have a very large base with both arcane and technology items to increase diversity and survivability in raids. - What are your Supergroups plans for the future?
Another open question, which you can answer in any way you want, whether in-character or as a player.
The main plan is to carry on as they do at present. The SG is looking to expand and take on new players always, hopefully if the number of members allowed in an SG is increased, many more players will be able to join. One project which is just starting to get off the ground is a new set of PvP orientated alts who can be played together a few set nights a week and level to 50 together to offer fun during levelling and major back up later on in the levels - If your Supergroup is open to new recruits, please provide details of how a player can go about applying for membership.
Please include details of emails, URLs, Global Chat handles and the like, as necessary.
The 1st port of call for anyone who wants to join the group is to join the global chat channel 'OotCS', this is where all SG members can be found whenever online, regardless of server or alt. If possible interested people should seek out @BindWhore or send an email in game to Plight Trawler. Once in the SG channel (which is open) anyone is welcome to introduce themself and should be as upfront as can be.
Outside of the game posts can be made to the hero or villain threads. - Please include at least three screenshots to illustrate your Supergroup with your submission.
This could include a team portrait, pictures of your base, shots of your SG in action on a mission or Task Force and so on. Please submit full-size (uncropped) images in JPEG format.
Please let me know if you think this should be done in character or from a first person point of view (most likely mine). If someone wants to rewrite the whole thing, go for it! No one is any more important than anyone else really, I just threw this together.
I'm thinking we should try and make it a bit more jazzy, but don't want to come across too RP, as, i think, we fall into the mid-hard core gaming stratum.
Plight - What is the name of your Supergroup?
-
I can definately say TANC ftw, however our SG is also lovely, active, and anti-idiot. There's a link in my bio page if you click my username. It speaks for itsself I'm sure
Plight -
i was actually coming here to remove myself from the list, but seeing as the match rules are now vaguely sensible i wont, yet. If Bob cant get my global name next to my toon after several posts about it then I'll be off methinks, i have other things to do too :/

I'll whip something up here this afternoon, post it to this thread, let you all have a fiddle, alter as I see best and submit it tomorrow. Could someone with good graphics get picss of the base (CoV too) and host them on www.imageshack.us then post URLs to them all here so I can DL them and attach them to emails. Basically (base lawl) if I have to do this it won't look as good.
I'll also be putting a group photo together at some point this evening, I do expect it to take priority, it'll prolly be around 8-9ish when most are online, so please be ready for it (location??? base or somewhere dramatic?)
Cheers for the tip MCX

Hi Plight, I have a few questions about the build ^^.
1) What do you suggest? Starting out as a newbie, slowly building this build; or starting out as a PvE elec/elec, and then respec to this one at later lvls?
2) I was wondering, why did you pick both Swift and Hurdle? Don't you think you could get rid of Hurdle and just pick Health, instead?
P.s.
Also, kind of silly questions ;P
a)What is 'mez'? I'm such a newb ;P...
b)Is there any chance you have your build's file uploaded, so we can take a look at it more easily (I'm currently working on 'copying' it to the editor :P)?
c)Sorry for asking a probably stupid question, but what do you mean by 'EndopEXP' and 'NucleEXP'? I know it's written there 'accuracy/mez' and 'accuracy/dmg', but how should I use this in my build? :P
Thanks in advance ^^. I wonder how you people can stand newbs like me.. ;P
[/ QUOTE ]We were all new once, and i remember being taught all the things i didnt have a clue about.
I would suggest going mainly ranged to start with, this will mean that you have faster recharge on attacks. Considering defiance is more commonly seen as useful at lower levels then faster recharge is better imo. Until 18 elec lacks a lot of it's control too, so melee range is not that safe to be honest. I wouldn't go melee heavy until you have a few rangeded attacks, also, ball lightning is you main contribution to team overall damage, getting it at 46+ is a PvP choice. I'd say the build is playable as is, but it's not a 1-50 plan, it's definately a 50 respec (to be honest I did 1-50 without stamina and hasten, in teams you get enough buffs, and solo end isn't too much of a problem, especially after 35; with power sink you can solo most missions on most settings non stop).
The whole swift/hurdle/stamina route is mainly used, for me personally, as a way to maximise my travel speen and jump height when suppressed, as well as to avoid hit point regeneration. For the blasters that are capable of control, defiance is a tool that can be used with good effect. With aid self you can easily out heal a blaser with 3 slotted health, so it makes more sense to make yourself faster between targets in melee, and get more out of you defiance inherent (as a note if you are soloing heroic once u have a hold, or 2 holds especially, there will be no need to heal between mobs, you can hover around 30% hp, barring boss spawns, to get a bit of extra damage and not really be at any risk. I don't heal vs my own level spawns usually in 2 or 3 man teams or solo.).
'Mez' is any mesmerising power, so holds, stuns, sleeps, fears etc. Elec/elec/elec has access to 3 holds, 3 stuns, 2 sleeps, 3 KBs (knock backs) and 2 drains (a non mez form of control really).
My build is there for all to see, it will change again soon, LF is going, it doesn't cut the stalker mustard, so I'm putting shocking grasp in and going for a tank killer theme. I'm sure you can copy it, but some things you will want to change, this suits me, not everyone.
EndopExp and NucleExp are Endoplasm (deep internal cytoplasmic fluid) Exposure, and Nucleus Exposure (I think it's nucleus, if not then it's nucleolus, the area of a cell's nucleus where rDNA is abundant and production of new rRNA takes place), anyways, they are Hamidon Enhancements (HOs) which are the equivalent of 2 SOs in one, so acc/mez is +33.3% to both all types of mez a power is capable of and accuracy.
There are many different types of eleec blaster, my best advice would be to start off with 6 slotting charged bolts, lightning bolt and ball lightning, then short circuit and 3 slotting aim and build up. After this (or ASAP after 18), 6 slot tesla cage then work on your melee skills, push your luck with short circuit to learn what you can get away with, then once you are into the 30s drop a ranged power for a melee power (provided you have taken the medicine pool, if you are teaming and have not, then take all your basic blasts and all 3 melees).
