Henchmen are movable. That's what the Go command is for. You've been playing a melee-oriented mastermind since October and you don't have a Go macro or keybind?
[/ QUOTE ]
He's referring to the ability to push pets/henchemen.
For example, if my bots are blocking a doorway, I don't NEED to tell them to move, I can slowly push past them. This is NOT true for Thugs, at least the first tier pets. I summoned one, ran into him thinking he'd move and I'd slide past, nope. Was like running into a brick wall. Sat there for a minute attacking him from all angles and the sob didn't budge an inch. So it's bugged and hopefully fixed.
However, the go command is fine in a situation like that but in the middle of a tough battle in a bottle-neck on a big team your teammates need to be able to push past the pets/hencies on their own and not depend on the mm to move them. -
::grunts at the spelling::
Just a few rebuttles:
[ QUOTE ]
My 2influ it's been said but here we go
1. No clips throw do rags. bandanas you know there colors when they are Tru gang members
[/ QUOTE ]
There were gangs long before there were hoods. Also this isn't a gang power-set, it's thugs and thugs and gangs can be two seperate things.
At first I though that was the road they were going down (thugs in gangs etc) however I'm pleasantly surprised to see they did NOT go down that pathetic path. If they opted to go that route I'd not be testing thugs nor would I build one on live.
[ QUOTE ]
2. No whistle cell phone all the way
[/ QUOTE ]
Would require different animation, longer cast time and again... this isn't some lame [censored] "in the hood" gang. Whistling is very common when calling attention to things. ::whistles:: "Over here boys, there's some Longbow..."
[ QUOTE ]
3. upgrade anumation if u throw bandanas or du rags show them tieing them on as they power up
[/ QUOTE ]
Longer upgrade time, shelving the power-set to create all new animations and again, this isn't a gang. It's a group of thugs.
[ QUOTE ]
4. they are to slow speed them up
[/ QUOTE ]
/signed
[ QUOTE ]
5.they are a bit on the dumb side
[/ QUOTE ]
/signed again. They seem to be having some pathing issues. Thay have issues accepting an enemy as dead. (I had one stand over the body of a dead enemy [set to aggressive] while other enemies were attacking me.) They're also supposed to be ranged biased but sometimes they love running 50' upt o an enemy and pistol whipping him. But this has happened since beta. I don't think I've ever had a group of bots that always avoided closing to melee. So this is AI issue with biasing.
[ QUOTE ]
7. pistol attacks need a end reduction hard to use them with out suckin wind
[/ QUOTE ]
IMO as a player since almost day one I'm finding pistols refreshingly sparing on endurance. With the support of a couple thugs my endurance lasts quite a while. -
[ QUOTE ]
1: all they really are is a bank heist and a cape mission rolled into one except the only big change is now you can break things (which could be done for the entire game not just select missions).
[/ QUOTE ]
Right now it IS just select missions. It's not like they flip a switch and suddenly all objects in missions are destroyable objects. They might need to go through every mission placing destructible objects in it. Also art-work for those objects needs to be created to replace the merely graphical/geographical item that's already there. Some day maybe, but right now it would take a huge effort for them to convert all missions to ones with destroyable items. Look at it this way:
The technology has existed since (or even before)the Council/5th Column war for mobs to fight each other. However, until then you didn't see it. Since then it's common in newer zones like the Hollows and almost all CoV zones. However if you run through Talos you won't see the Tsoo actually hurting the warriors or the freaks hurting the warriors... they'd have to go back and adjust every one of those mobs. So for destroyable objects, hold your breath for future missions having them and it being more common but probably not older missions... at least for a while.
[ QUOTE ]
I also said older more mature gamers need more than mindless smashing. what was meant by this is we need to get something out of destroying objects be it little xp (even if its very little), or even more time this would be at least something. (as it stands right now we only get extra time for not getting caught ( by beating the good guys up not for destroying objects).
[/ QUOTE ]
You do get bonus time, in fact it's where most of your bonus time is going to come from outside of the side-missions. How many objects did you destroy? You don't get bonus time for EVERY object... I think you need to destroy so many of an item type to get bonus time.
Unfortunately you either got a bugged mission or didn't do enough mayhem to get bonus time.
Hey, let me ask everyone this, for those of you who didn't get bonus time, what zone was it in? Wondering if maybe one of the instances is bugged. -
[ QUOTE ]
The toughest part of the mission seems to be the first few moments on entering the bank. Tons of security and an immediate spawn of Longbow. Is that intentional?
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless it's changed, expect a Longbow ambush to come any time you enter a new door. On the couple of mayhem's I've run so far every time I enter a side-quest and the bank a Longbow ambush showed. -
From reading your post Cal I don't think you gave it a fair chance, however I respect your feelings on it, I did want to touch on a couple things:
[ QUOTE ]
Um, well, in order to be able to say I know what I'm talking about, I broke down and did one of these missions today (since I couldn't do any missions in GV).
[/ QUOTE ]
That's always good. People love to yap about [censored] they have no idea about.
[ QUOTE ]
I must say, except for the temp powers, I really don't see the point of these missions. Some people will find them fun, I guess, but I found the one I did to be rather annoying.
[/ QUOTE ]
The point of these missions was to let villains feel more villanous. People have been crying since beta about feeling more like dark heroes or anti-heroes or nuetered villains than REAL villains. Also since CoH beta people have had issues with the complete lack of destructible enviornment. These missions serve 2-fold.
Also, IMO it shows where the technology is going. I believe each mayhem mission contains *4* side-missions ON TOP of the rob the bank portion. It shows how large and complicated they can make missions. If for nothing else THAT is exciting. Think about how much more interesting and complicated they can make TF's/SF's/Trials? Move them away from one door mission to another and create whole outdoor instances or even indoor instances with side-missions etc.
[ QUOTE ]
No rhyme or reason to what I needed to destroy or why.
[/ QUOTE ]
Everything. Because you can. Period. (Well, for the bonus time too for destroying stuff.)
[ QUOTE ]
I didn't get 'extra time' for tearing things up, but from flying away from the PPD.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen a couple people say this. How much stuff did you destroy? I think there are hidden counters. When you destroy x car, you get x bonus, when you destroy x parking meters, you get x bonus etc. If you didn't see a point to destroying things I don't imagine you took the time to really lay waste to the mission before going for the vault.
[ QUOTE ]
There were no cameras that I could interact with, so Stalking against them never happened.
[/ QUOTE ]
No cameras that you saw. Did you do the side-quests? A couple of them have surveillance systems in them.
[ QUOTE ]
The PPD were useless against me. I'll vary mission difficulty to see of that alters, tomorrow.
[/ QUOTE ]
How often did you fight them? You said earlier "flying away" from them... let a couple flashbangs an sticky arrows get you.
I'd give it another try and try to do some of the side-quests. You can get them from the normal mobs in the area, like Talos has several group of freaks that drop keys. They're pretty fun to do. -
[ QUOTE ]
Is anybody collecting these reports and analyzing them? Or should I go back through the thread and see if I can get enough information from people's posts to compile a report myself? Either it's random, or bugged, or the pattern will only be obvious after a lot more examples are analyzed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been following the thread and my impression is it's bugged OR random. However there are factors I don't think that's being accounted enough.
I'd like to see people actually track how long they were in the mission before grabbing the loot. That's one of the only things I'm not seeing reports of. It could be time-based. NOT bonus time, just how long you've been in the mission. -

[ QUOTE ]
I took over a pillbox that was already villain-side, but the person controlling it had been killed or run away or something. It had no turrets, but when I took it over, ONE turret spawned (instead of four) and it was right next to me, clipping the transparent dome. I'm guessing this is a bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lady Sadako- do you remember which pill box this was?
thank you for the information

[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen this too Archon and it was the one nearest the villain base I believe. -
[ QUOTE ]
1) Why are the FX so hideous? (The "trailing rings" effect is why I never really play characters with superjump.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately it's a matter of perspective. My first run got me +end for 3 days and I'm not all that keen on the graphic, but for a little extra endurance I deal.
[ QUOTE ]
2) Why is it not a toggle? (Gaah, let me turn this off, please!! Pretty please?)
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not set up like that. It's not like say, the Nemesis staff or a piece of the Wheel of Desctruction which you need to choose to use. It's more an 'affect' than a usable item.
[ QUOTE ]
3) Does it *really* last for a full 3 days of GAMEPLAY? (I really hope it will time out if I go offline for 3 days playing something else - I can deal with that.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah the wording is a bit odd, but I think it's 3 days. Could be wrong though. (Loading my toon who got the +end a few days ago and checking...) and it's still on him. So I'm wrong I think. It's been more than 3 days since I got that power... so unless I got it again on the mayhem mission I ran last night which reset the timer it's 72 hours of game-time.

[ QUOTE ]
Also, invulnerable citizens need to go the way of the dinosaur. I'm the bad guy. It's my job to pick on the helpless. Make citizens smashable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. Also, since they don't award anything, pets and the NPC villain need to be coded to ignore them. We couldn't enter a side-mission or even the bank and keep the NPC with us. The stupid villain kept running off on her own as battles would start and go beat on civilians. My pet wasn't quite as bed, it kept following me but that stupid villain would sit there for ages beating on the same civi.
At the end, who comes up? Mynx. Who's not there? Villain. We beat EB Mynx, exit the bank to do a little more mayhem before we exit and who comes running up a few seconds after we leave the bank? The villain. Fat lot of good she did us. -

[ QUOTE ]
-Testers encourage PlayNC to hurry up and fix the (minor) bugs in these missions and send them to the live servers, because they are awesomely fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're kidding right? awesomely fun? not even close
Mayhem Missions dont differ much from a mindless shooter or a hack and slash, all they really are is a bank heist and a cape mission rolled into one except the only big change is now you can break things (which could be done for the entire game not just select missions).
Mayhem Missions are nothing more than a crumb being handed out to draw in a younger crowd (which seems to be working), older more mature gamers need more than mindless smashing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Love seeing personal oppinion stated as fact.
At what age does one become an "older more mature gamer"? 'Cause I gotta' tell you, this 30yo has a blast with his mayhem missions, if for nothing else them showing growing tech and usage of that tech in game. It opens up so many doors on what can be done with this game over time. -
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously, just let the villian players test out the zone for at "least" one day. That's not asking much of you at all.
[/ QUOTE ]

I only have 1 toon who's high enough to get into RV (hero) and it's a total hero-fest. The ONLY time I saw villains getting out today while I was playing is when a pillbox had THREE AV's at it keeping everyone occupied... then the villains could get out and assist the AV's but that didn't win them the zone... only a couple kills before the heavies turned on them for a real fast smackdown or 20 heroes retargetted on the villain long enough to drop them before going back to the AV's.
I didn't see the villains get one pillbox today while I was playing and there were plenty... at their base... behind a wall of heroes.
I'd really like to let the villains win a couple times. To see the sig heroes in action, to see the zone under their control and to test bugs.
Ultimately I think people are sweating the badges for the AV's so much they can't wait a whopping 15 minutes to let the villains win once.
What'd be nice is if we could actually get people to agree to an alternating schedule. Heroes win one, then villains etc etc.
That'd require a lot of cooperation though and well... don't see it happening. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm... So it sounds like the strength of the 'boss' all depends on how much mayhem/damage you caused on your way to the bank. Is this a solid assumption?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's two questions you've asked where the answers were answered SEVERAL times. I know the thread is getting big but please try to at least skim the posts for your answer.
No, it's NOT a safe assumption. It's completely wrong in fact.
For the 4th time:
I laid waste to the zone and whiped out the prison (on a level 33 toon) BEFORE going to the bank. All I got was a lt. I should have at least gotten a boss or EB according to the assumptions of some on how it works.
Also others said they've done lots of damage and only gotten lt's so their assumption is wrong, or maybe even right and the missions are bugged and not reporting damage correctly or some such. -
[ QUOTE ]
After level 20, engaging in any Mayhem or raising the difficulty guarantees an Elite Boss, so take extra purple and red inspirations.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it doesn't.
For the third time:
I got a LT on my 33 after tearing the zone up and doing the prison. -
[ QUOTE ]
what if you had kryptonite
[/ QUOTE ]
We don't know what/if any weaknesses the signature heroes have.
Even if we did... it'd have to introduce a whole new system into the game to account for those weaknesses.
I'd also hate to come with my kryptonite ray gun to have batman show up. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well if you had run around blowing up everything and destroying everything I think you would have gotten a AV version of some hero.
I dont think you ever get a Boss hero except maby in the low levels but then again Im not sure. I just threw the B into my line of ranks becaues I wasnt sure if people got Bosses.
In my mission with the level 40's were I was SK'ed they got an EB becaues they all just beelined to the bank after sweeping the police station. However my level 22 MM got wailed on by a very angry strong valkyrie after looting the vault.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well there Mr "Brought it on yourself"... how do you explain my level 33 getting a LT! after blowing up half the zone and wasting the police station?
If you're going to look like an [censored] and be condecending at least have some clue about what you're talking about. -
[ QUOTE ]
i could use aid other, self, and rest in the jail, as it SHOULD be...
[/ QUOTE ]
The fields aren't aligned properly. It's still in test. Once it's fixed all the cells will be dampened much like a Council prison.
Anyway... as it SHOULD be is the dampening field blocks ALL power usage (think Arena Gladiator Match).
What the heck good is blocking your ability to rest when you can launch a forklift through the door? If they were serious they'd nix all powers except brawl and make you punch your way out! -
[ QUOTE ]
A bug I noticed is that there are some lighting issues when entering a bank (Character got EXTREMELY bright). Also, when I accepted my Mayhem Mission, it said I would be given 20 minutes to complete it, but I only got 15.
My mission was in Talos, and when I got into jail, there are a few problems. First of all, the exploding door nearly wiped my robots out, but left me unable to prepare for the boss ahead (Whom I hardly beat). I can't use heal other, aid self, or rest because something in the jail kept on interrupting me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Prisons have dampening fields around hem to prevent certain powers from working. -
[ QUOTE ]
Im curious what does the xp look like from mayhem missions compared to the old way of just the bank heist. I ask because I wonder if this is a conscious decision at lower lvls to make sure every character cannot play out every early story arc, as it is in port oakes I have a hard enough time getting all the story arc badges and temp pwrs before outleveling them (thus proving the point).
I'm not saying whether this is good or bad, I can see the use in making sure no character can run through every single story arc, to make sure you have to role another one to see everything.
[/ QUOTE ]
Potential for MUCH more exp. The bank's about as big, plus the side-missions which have mobs in them, plus the mobs on the street, plus the TMK unlimited ambushes...
I think as long as you can maintain time you can keep ambushes coming. I stayed in the mission a good 10 minutes after I completed it just destroying stuff. Ambushes kept coming. -

i LOVE the fact that i can hit pedestrians with my /kin powers. Huge fulcrum shifts, always a target to siphon speed.... Oh glorious day!
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably something that would help with the "immersion" factor is if you hit a civilian it is "teleported" out. That way you are defeating the civilians, but not really hurting them.
I do love seeing level 1s running around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, trying to understand how propel can cripple a level 30 villain but only knocks a level 1 civilian on his butt unscatched...
Of course, we've all seen granny holding onto the purse for 15 minutes with 10 Outcast around her...
It's not so much City of Heroes as City Of Those Who Need Technology To Be 'Immortal' And Actually Fight Mobs Vs Just Resist Them -

Thumbs up on the Mayhem missions! Well executed and fun!
I failed mine, thoughLongbow are much easier to handle than Reinforced Doors...
...why, yes, I was playing a Dominator (mind/psi, threat level 28), how did you know?
[/ QUOTE ]
What's your difficulty setting? I totally dominated with my dominator.
The only time I ran into a problem is when I was trying to break the villain out some longbow came up the elevator and blindsided me... I couldn't hit anything 'cause as soon as I exited the elevator a stupid ghost flashbanged me. -
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, your mayhem mission spawned a lieutenant?
Gee, mine spawned an EB Manticore
[/ QUOTE ]
Well aren't you special. Nyeh nyeh nyeh. ::bitter::
lol j/k
I'm ticked though... I saved my domination for him thinking this big bad hero was going to come running at me... and I get a lt with a cape and flamey eyes. Sheesh I coulda' held him with a flashbang grenade on me. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm fairly certain I saw Jesus at one point during my Mayhem Mission.
So. Good.
One comment: there is way too much glue flying around. Kudos on everything else!
[/ QUOTE ]
Meh the glue was okay... however the damned flashbang grenades just sucked! If I didn't have my sing and a villain I broke out of prison helping me (when she wasn't busy bullying civilians) I'd have eaten dirt a lot in the mission. Those grenades are just awful and they last forever. -

The 'hero' was just a lt in a cool costume. Not a boss, not an eb, not a hero, a bloody LT.
[/ QUOTE ]
I played with the "vicious" setting and it spawned some bosses. I think my hero was boss. What setting were you playing on?
[/ QUOTE ]
Lowest but if it's a hero... it shouldn't drop down to a LT.
That means it went hero->eb->boss->lt. Didn't realize the hero->eb code goes that far... unless they never spawn as anything OTHER than bosses (I guess I'm assuming they spawn as hero-level mobs because they refer to them as heroes) which would explain it. -
Bugs I noted:
No map in prison. This may be intentional, however the bank has a map. Again though... may be intentional. I can imagine being provided a map of the area I'm infiltrating and the bank but not necessarily the police station.
The villain in the prison ignored the door. As soon as I got close she popped right through the door.
She was EASILY distracted by civilians. Most of the time I didn't have her assistance as she was too busy beating up civilians. They either need to ignore civies or be more biased toward following me once I get to a certain range distance than continuing to beat up civies.
The 'hero' was just a lt in a cool costume. Not a boss, not an eb, not a hero, a bloody LT. -

Either that or they need to change the badge to read:
